Reunification council announces successful agreement
The council, which has been working for over a year has finally created a plan

Prawanwit Phrompan, a rising star in the reunification talks

KHATTAYA, Hanzen: It is crazy to think that there are now multiple generations of children who haven't lived in a unified Hanzen, as the nation has been made of a number of princedoms since the dissolution of the Hanzen-Xsampa Empire 39 years ago; however it is quite possible that things will be changing for the better in the coming months.

A year ago, an exploratory council was put together to discuss the reestablishment of a unified Hanzenese state. The group, which has been meeting in the port city of Khattaya, is made up of representatives from across the princedoms and republics, and have recently announced that a consensus has finally been reached.

The new government will be a federal, parliamentary republic headed by a constitutional monarchy that holds limited power. Due to lobbying from many local governments, a federal system will be put in place, allowing for local leaders to keep some power; although, this may limit the parliament's ability to push for the deep reforms many predict they have planned.

One star rose up above the rest of the representatives: Prawanwit Phrompan, a business owner from Eastern Hanzen who many speculate may be able to cinch the Chief Ministry in future elections.

Elections are slated to occur in two months time, allowing for a small amount of local campaigning. A committee has also been established to find any surviving members of the royal family, or those with blood relations, who will be coronated as the new monarchs of Hanzen.

Hanzenese citizens take to the streets of Udon Nakhon to celebrate the coronation

UDON NAKHON, Hanzen: After less than a month of searching, the Royal Committee was able to locate a number of distant blood relatives to the deposed Wechsupaporn Royal Dynasty. However, they eventually settled on Parchand Udomprecha, whose family fled into the mountains living as simple farmers.

Today, King Parnchand was coronated early in the morning, so that the rising sun could receive the three bows he gave during the ceremony. This is the first time that the Hanzenese monarchy will return to the Phra in quite a long time and marks a hopeful return to normality for the people and country.

While the ceremony, itself, was private and only attended by the royal family, high ranking officials, and few Daenist and Jienist priests, the new king was quick to make a public appearance, walking outside of the palace to greet his new subjects. The news has been met by great fanfare from a majority of the populace, and the streets of Udon Nakhon were flooded with celebration throughout the day.

"Thank you all for accepting me as your new monarch," said King Parnchand in a public speech, "I can't wait to work together with you to return the great nation of Hanzen to glory."

The royal family also includes three children, two of which were recently born. This already puts the monarchy on a stable path for the future.

Prawanwit Phrompan thanks his supporters for the Chief Ministry

UDON NAKHON, Hanzen: Yesterday saw the citizens of the Kingdom of Hanzen vote for the first time since the country's reunification, an event that brought about a huge voter turnout for the nation with over 75% of the electorate turning up at the polls.

This election seems to have set the tone for the nation's political future, with two main parties seeming to come out on top: the Royal Peoples Party and the Elephant Workers' Party which both gained over 100 seats (154 and 103, respectively). Rounding out the 356 seat parliament are the Daenist League with 65 seats, the National Unity Alliance with 21, and the Orchid Society with 13.

As expected, the Royal Peoples Party's Prawanwit Phrompan, who rose the prominence through his role in the reunification council, will be leading the country until the election cycle as Chief Minister of Hanzen through a coalition with the ideologically aligned Daenist League.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Apinya Changtai speaks to a gathered crowd

UDON NAKHON, Hanzen: Freshly back in Udon Nakhon from celebrating the New Year with her family, Apinya Changtai, the RPP Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with members of Dinh community in the capital city.

At first the conversation was light-hearted with Changtai cracking a few jokes and asking about everyone's holidays; however, it quickly darkened as the subject moved on to the State of Kimlien.

"I, on behalf of the Kingdom of Hanzen, would like to issue my sincerest apologies to the State of Kimlien," said Ms. Changtai, "we as a nation must come to reality with the horrors we wrought as part of the Xsampa-Hanzen Empire and there's no better time than now to work for a better future."

The minister spoke about her party's hope to once again restore good relations with Hanzen's southern neighbour. "I hope that our two nations can once again find common ground and learn to bring peace and prosperity to our tired continent," she said, to cheers from the those who had come to listen to her speak.

This is seen by many as a concrete move by the current government to reject the militaristic past that Hanzen saw under the leadership of Prime Minister Babpiboon, who led the nation into the creation of the Xsampa-Hanzen Empire. The statement drew approval from all sides of the aisle, except the National Unity Party.

King Parnchand pushes for closer ties with Indrala
Hanzen's monarch shows his true governmental influence for the first time

The Grand Palace of Hanzen, residence of the Royal Family

UDON NAKHON, Hanzen: In one of his first public statements directed at the legislature, King Parnchand has requested that the nation look towards places such as Indrala.

"I'd like to humbly ask the National Assembly to further relations with the State of Indrala," he said, "as it is clear we as nations share similar cultures, histories, languages, and even people. Thus, we're obvious partners."

The king has long been known to have supported the idea of bringing Hanzen closer to the nation it was formerly a protectorate under, even though many areas of the East are heavily against such viewpoints. However, it is generally believed with Indrala's top role in Terra's economy and growing military strength that Hanzen will be able to grow greatly with its friendship and aid. Along with this, king Parnchand, himself, has ties to the Indralan Emperor, placing personal ties into this issue.

Hanzen's legislature seems to generally support the measure despite hesitations, and the two largest parties the Royal Peoples and Elephant Workers' Parties have announced intentions to work towards the goal. Although it isn't known how other parties stand, these two control over half the legislature.

If the issue passes, it might be an indication the king will have much more influence of legislation and policy than many thought he would.

Tiankong to invest in Udon Nakhon, other large cities

Rendering of the planned headquarters

UDON NAKHON, Hanzen: The Tiankong Group is a largely Indralan based company that is known not only in the airplane and flight industry but also for its green energy and development initiatives.

Recently, the company's Ren Guanting announced that she wanted to be able to move the company onto the international stage, starting in Hanzen before working its way through Dovani. However, Ren must first get through the hoops of the National Assembly in order to gain permission for such sweeping and expensive plans.

The development will largely focus on the modernization of urban areas, including the introduction of cleaner energy, better transportation systems, and updates to many dilapidated public structures.

If allowed the project is estimated to bring in millions, if not billions of economic aid and opportunity to the nation, a move that move that many hope will increase the power of the already prominent tourist industry. Furthermore, if this headquarters actually ends up in Hanzen thousands of new jobs and possible expansions to what Tiankong had already done to the country are expected to well up in the capital..

Prince Khemkhaeng takes on greater responsibility as the King undergoes chemotherapy
The Prince was elevated to the rank of Somdet Phra Anujadhiraj (Heir Apparent) shortly after the King was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer

⠀⠀His Royal Highness, Prince Khemkhaeng has had his royal duties expanded ten-fold while His Majesty the King undergoes treatment for his advanced pancreatic cancer. Despite being the King's third son, born to the King's second consort, the Prince was elevated to the rank of Heir Apparent last month when news of the King's prognosis was made public. While the elevation of Prince Khemkhaeng shocked many conservative monarchists, the vast majority of observers anticipated that Prince Khemkhaeng would receive some high-ranking post in the government on the basis of the Prince's strong relationships with the military's top brass, in addition to his popularity among young Hanzanese men.

⠀⠀"His Royal Highness [Prince Khemkhaeng] is a very ambitious and assertive young man," said Professor Stitaya Baimai, Dean of Political Science at Khattaya University. "While his brothers were busy with academia, Prince Khemkhaeng has spent his time in the military, building connections and laying the foundation for his own base of support."

⠀⠀Shortly after his elevation to the role of Heir Apparent, Prince Khemkhaeng also assumed the role of Private Secretary to the King, Regent President of the Royal Council of Hanzen, the Bureau of the Royal Household and the Crown Property Bureau respectively. These additional roles grant enormous power in the Prince's hands, placing him directly below the King in terms of legal authority.

⠀⠀While being just 24 years old, Prince Khemkhaeng has already gained a number of powerful allies, including Narong Aphichari, Commander-in-Chief of Hanzen's Royal Air Force. It is widely reported within the military that Commander Aphichari has a deep respect for His Royal Highness, with some reports suggesting that Aphichari views the Prince as his own son. Indeed, the Prince has been under his stewardship since he entered the Air Force at age 17.

Image
Above: His Royal Highness Prince Khemkhaeng (age 17) poses for a picture with his cadet comrades in the Royal Armed Forces

⠀⠀Prime Minister Kamon Thongyai, leader of the governing National Unity Alliance, has also previously indicated his support for the young Prince over his elder brothers, suggesting in a veiled manner that it was Prince Khemkhaeng alone who had the "strength, fortitude and popular support" to govern Hanzen. In contrast to the other Princes, Khemkhaeng is undoubtably popular, with a vast number of young male supporters who prefer the Prince's populist rhetoric, military service and patronage of athletics to the elder Princes' academic bona fides.

⠀⠀Prince Khemkhaeng is an ardent supporter and practitioner of Muay Phra boxing, encouraging the combat sport as a means of physical exercise, self-defence, attacking, recreation, and personal advancement. The Prince has personally funded hundreds of Muay Phra gyms, associations and clubs across the country and has taken great interest in the development of the discipline. The influx of investment into many rural communities has likewise won the young prince countless supporters in Hanzen's vast rural countryside.

⠀⠀As Heir Apparent, the Prince has continued his philanthropic work in addition to taking on greater state responsibilities. Last week, the Prince was joined by many high-ranking military officials to discuss the on-going modernization of the Royal Armed Forces. Earlier this week, Prince Khemkhaeng was in Eastern Hanzen, touring local farming cooperatives and listening to the concerns of common people.

President Seichō of Seko visits Hanzen, stresses importance of partnership with developing world
En route back to Seko, President Seichō travelled by way of Hanzen in order to meet with Prince Khemkhaeng and various Daenist leaders
8 September 4742

Above: Her Eminence Pressident Seichō Sakura (left) meets with an Upayanâ monk, stressing the importance of "intra-faith dialogue" and "pan-Daenist solidarity"

⠀⠀Her Eminence, President Seichō Sakura of Seko visited Hanzen briefly, en route back to Seko after attending the enthronement of the Emperor of Yingdala, Yu Li. During her short stay in the country, Her Eminence was hosted by the Royal Family and a number of Upayanâ temples.

⠀⠀His Royal Highness Prince Khemkhaeng met President Seichō at the Parchand International Airport in Udon Nakhon, where the two leaders reviewed the military guard of honour before embarking to the Grand Palace. There, Seichō was received by the ailing King for whom the President, a Daenist Abbess, performed a prayer and blessing. Afterward, President Seichō and Prince Khemkhaeng held an extended meeting with various government and military officials before concluding with a vegetarian state dinner, in recognition of the guest's dietary preferences.

⠀⠀The next morning, Prince Khemkhaeng brought the President to a number of Upayanâ temples and monasteries throughout the Udon Nakhon metropolitan area. The President repeatedly stressed the importance of an "intra-faith dialogue" among the various schools in the Daenist tradition, and encouraging those she spoke with to practice "pan-Daenist solidarity."

⠀⠀The Prince, for his part, spoke of the "Sekowan model of development" as a path to economic stability and food security for the rural regions of Hanzen. Seko's rapid economic conversion from corporate management to a co-operative and democratic alternative has had an impact that has spanned all the way to Tropica. The Prince specifically spoke of the strength of co-operatives in creating sustainable rural employment through business models that are resilient to economic and environmental shocks, while empowering marginalized peoples.

⠀⠀Later in the evening, the Prince joined the President for a public banquet held in central Udon Nakhon wherein the President personally distributed food for needy children and poor families. The two leaders eventually shared a meal on stage before the Prince delivered a speech in the President's honour. Prince Khemkhaeng spoke briefly, emphasizing the new relationship between Seko and Hanzen.

⠀⠀"In the words of Her Eminence, today Seko and Hanzen take the first step in joining hands to liberate 'all oppressed people in the world from material and spiritual suffering,'" said the Prince. "Let's dare to think differently about Dovani, because everything man is capable of imagining, he can create!"

⠀⠀The President took to the podium shortly afterwards, praising the young prince for his commitment to "social justice and development," vowing to build "strong partnerships throughout the developing world."

⠀⠀"A new breeze is blowing across Dovani, and the breeze is called solidarity," said President Seichō. "From the sagacious words of His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor of Yingdala, to the noble work of His Royal Majesty the King and of Prince Khemkhaeng, to our humble efforts in Seko, let it be known that an age of mutual aid, fraternity and prosperity is coming!"

Crown Prince Khemkhaeng seen at Daenist charity event with
daughter of Air Force Commander Narong Aphichari

18 December 4742
Image

⠀⠀Crown Prince Khemkhaeng appeared at a Daenist charity event in Khattaya this morning alongside Busarakham Aphichari, the daughter of Royal Air Force Commander-in-Chief Narong Aphichari. The two were seen together praying, lighting incense and greeting those who turned out for the event.

⠀⠀The Crown Prince is deeply involved with philanthropy across the country, particularly with regard to marginalized youth, athletics and agricultural sustainability. The Crown Prince has been known for his ability to mobilize resources among Hanzen's elite classes for various causes relating to social justice and development. At the event, hosted by a local Upayanâ temple which works to serve the homeless, the Crown Prince presented a grant of $15,000 from his personal foundation.

⠀⠀Countless pages in the Kingdom's newspapers have been dedicated to speculation regarding potential spouses for the Crown Prince ever since he was elevated to the rank of "Heir Apparent," just less than a year ago. Accordingly, the very intentional decision of the Crown Prince to attend the event with Ms. Aphichari has attracted a frenzy of attention and interest from the Hanzenese domestic media.

⠀⠀Ms. Aphichari, for her part, is a relatively unknown commoner who had only been seen publicly when accompanying her father at state events. In a statement from the Bureau of the Royal Household, the ruling House of Udomprecha offered a measured explanation for the dual appearance, stating that "His Royal Highness and Ms. Aphichari attended the charity event together on behalf their parents, His Royal Majesty the King and Commander Aphichari respectively."

Royal Family announces engagement of Crown Prince Khemkhaeng
The Crown Prince is set to marry Busarakham Aphichari next spring
10 January 4743

Image

⠀⠀The Bureau of the Royal Household has announced that His Royal Highness Crown Prince Khemkhaeng will wed the daughter of Narong Aphichari, Commander-in Chief of the Royal Air Force, next spring in a private Daenist ceremony. The Bureau released a number of formal engagement photos of the couple, who had previously only been seen together one other time publicly at a charity event in Khattaya last year.

⠀⠀According to the Bureau's announcement, the King is "elated," with the engagement, stating that "For His Royal Majesty, the wedding of his dear third son will be a great comfort as His Royal Majesty undergoes medical treatment."

⠀⠀While it is reported that the engagement is a love-match, it nonetheless comes with political implications. Many leading figures in the Armed Forces are reportedly celebrating the engagement as a symbol of ever-greater unity between the military and the Royal Family, which exerts near total power in the developing country. It is public knowledge that the Crown Prince and his future father-in-law Commander Aphichari share a very close, almost filial bond.

⠀⠀Following the announcement, various domestic media sites crashed in response to an uptick in traffic. The website for the Bureau of the Royal Household similarly went offline for around one hour; though no explanation has been provided, it can be inferred that the Bureau's website crashed for similar reasons to their media counterparts.
