Dark times for Tropica ? Prime minister hit closed doors in Alduria and Kanjor.

Maybe the future for Tropica will be very dark. Recently, the idea of the minister of democracy, Pikake Kane, to create electoral committees that would hand-count the results of the election, was blocked in the national assemble of Tropica. The opposition parties argued that this idea would make the nation look like a dictatorship, which could lead to international sanctions. However, the nations electoral machine where still not remplaced because the governments lack the funds to repairs it, and the ideas to take away funds from healthcare, education, police, or from the electric maintenance program where also blocked by the National assemble of Tropica. Another subject that hang around the air is the incredible power given to the leader of a party, there was multiple to discuss it and many attempt to reform it, but none of them succeeded. The Tropican prime minister tried to ask the nations of Alduria and Kanjor for foreign aid, in order to solve this problem, however both nations refused to give any kind of foreign aid and the representatives of the Seleyan Union have yet to reply to her demands. Meanwhile, tension between parties, especially between the Tribe Union and the Native Satanailist Alliance are very high.

a few comment in reaction to this situation

I must say I am full of compassion for Malina Metua. She is trying to find a solution for a very obvious problem, our broken electoral system. But her friends are more interessed in religions, then in elections and as soon as they, all parties try to pressure her into accepting their politics. Some day, its the friends of animals, then its the NSA, the liberal, the luthoran assemble. Everyone are trying to exploit their position in that coalition to force the prime minister in accepting their politics. life is a hard.
Lalepa Makala, leader of the new democratic party

I'm not certain there is a super future for Tropica. If we continues like this, we are going to embargoed in, for lacking democratic elections, but we are unable to organize any kind of democratic elections. I tried asking two nations, but both of them refused to aid us. I really hate how some nation can just sit on ton of foreign aid.

Tropica Solution to the electoral crisis, a new political party.

Malina Metua announced a rather unusual solution to her continued government crisis. She will use public funds to create a political party, the Party of Neutrality, who would have the mission to safeguard the democracy of Tropica and whose members would be granted the right to participate in hand-count ballots. This mean electoral machine would be scrapped or recycled, and the results of the new elections would be hand-counted. The prime Minister assured the journalists that the Party of Neutrality would be able to attract people by offering goods salaries to those who volunteers and that this party would be independant from any of the current parties of the national assemble of Tropica, She also assured the journalists that the people who be handling the ballots in the next generals are going to be neutral.

This mean our next election, when we will able to organize, are going to be handled by neutral individuals. People who will not have any reason to lean toward the communists, the greens, the Labor or the Satanailist, for their only goal is protect the democracy of Tropica. The most common objection we had to hand-count in Tropica, where the possible presence of members of political parties in the processus, and I can assure everyone that members of political parties shall not play any role in the democratic process. The Ballots will not count by a communist, nor by a green or by any other political party member, it shall be counted by an independant organisation. And I took some precaution, for exemple I made sure it would be illegal for members of the party of Neutrality to directly call members of other politicals formation.
Malina Metua, prime minister of Tropica

However, the leader of the Labor denounced this solution
This is a bad plan, What we will see, is that members of political formations will infiltrate the neutral formation, and this will threaten the democracy in Tropica. That's why we used machines to count our ballots, Because Machines can't have any interests in a communist victory or defeat.

Party of Neutrality disolve after infiltration by other political parties

the prime minister of Tropica has recently decided to disolved the party of Neutrality, after the party was invaded by multiple political members, who brought political reason on the table. This move mean that the nation will be unable to proceed to manual counts, and will be unable to hold new elections. It has already been 11 years since the last general Tropica, and it does not look like the crisis is going to stop. As the leaders of the Tribe Union and the Native Satanailist alliance are still in conflict with each others.

The prime minister of Tropica also announced that this term is going to be her last term as prime minister of Tropica.

Tropica is undergoing a bad political crisis and is becoming extremely hard to manage, it has already been 11 years since we last hold democratic election in our nations, and I don't see how the current situation can evolve. It seem there is only two solution, etheir our country receive foreign aid, or we wait for the old politicians to retire and be remplaced by new and more open politicians. I'm doing everything I can to manage the nation to the best of abilities, but there is a limit to what I am able to do. I found it extremely sad, that the party we created to hold the new elections, was infiltrate by members of others political parties, our election should always be organised by neutral, not political personnal. We are not in a dictatorship where the president can delete the vote of the opposition.

Prime Minister Malina Metua had enough of the Tropican Bullshit, there shall be elections, and it shall be hand-counted by independant electoral officials.

The Prime minister of Tropica has recently made a big statement in front of the journalist of the Tropican daily. She said that she will organise, when ever the others parties agree with her or not. She said that the Nations will proceed to elections on the 11 June 4534 and every 4 years after that, at each 11 june. She also confirmed that her government has created an independant electoral office that will hand-count the electoral results of each cities / districts, called the Elections-Tropica. The prime minister also confirmed that she invoked the super dictatorial law, in order to proceed with her plan, without having to submit it to the national assemble.

I had enough of the parties accusing each other of sabotting the electoral proceed and the parliament paralysing the nation. I'm going to use my power as head state to impose my decision, and elections shall be hand-count, they shall be organised and regulated by Elections-Tropica and that is that. And no, i'm not submitting this bill to the parliament, this bill shall be the law because I say so. Now the others parties can just wait for our next elections and calm the hell. We have become the laughing stock of the democratic world.
Malina Metua

So far, only the Labor Party has reacted to the decision of the prime minister.

This is unacceptable. Malina Metua just decided to name herself as a dictator, she might as well name herself the Super Great Queen of Tropica and abolish election. She just decided that all others and everyone who did not vote for the communist party has no word to in the decision process. We are elected official who represent the people, she should just retire like she said she would and let us handle the crisis, we would find a solution. But instead she decide to impose the martial law, and now she will passes any law she can. i'm quite certain there are multiple communist that are unwell with this decision. Our nation does not want to see the super great queen of Tropica step over the parliament and all their elected representatives.

27 February 4545
Hangakore Watere seizes control of parliament, forms grand coalition
Shortly after forming the Tropican National Party, former mayor and military officer Hangakore Watere has seized control of parliament.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Mr. Watere speaks before the Tropican Parliament, mere minutes after seizing control.

Through a swift series of actions, namely the securing of military support and of those in the national legislature, Hangakore Watere has seized control of the Tropican Parliament and proclaimed himself Prime Minister, all with legislative approval. Then pressuring other parties into forming a grand coalition, Watere immediately called a fresh set of parliamentary elections, with his newly-formed Tropican National Party winning in a landslide, gaining nearly half the seats in the legislature. Almost immediately, public outrage was heard all across the nation, namely by communists who had ruled the nation unopposed for the past several decades. Speaking before his constituents, Watere gave a harsh critique of the former ruling party, even going so boldly as to proclaim that communists were "demons".

Members of Parliament,

I speak to you today as a man who is tired of communists repressing our people for decades. For so long now, our freedom has been raped by these bastards in the name of "socialism". Well today I say to hell with it! The Tropican people have suffered enough! Under their tyrannical rule our proud nation has been exposed to some of the most disgusting acts I have ever seen in my entire life. There have even been reports of Satanailism and cannibalism being practiced in this very capital! Shameful, I say! Today I can no longer say that communists are even fellow human beings. They are demons, walking among us! That is the only logical explanation. We must cull these demons from our society by any means necessary. We must return Tropica to a greatness that it hasn't seen in centuries!

Mere seconds after his speech, Watere proposed sweeping anti-communist reforms before the legislature, namely a ban on communist parties and the immediate removal of all communist politicians from political office, both at the state and local level. He also declared that cultist activity, namely Satanailists, were directly tied to communist activity and ordered their arrests. Furthermore, provisions were included in his anti-communist provision bill that would grant him emergency powers, and the ability to declare a state of martial law. Passing nearly unanimously by the legislature, it seems Tropica may see a swift removal of communists across the nation, who have comfortably enjoyed a majority in the legislature for quite some time now. However communist parties weren't the only target of Watere. Various other small parties that existed under the communist regime were also either directly integrated into the Tropican National Party or dissolved entirely, with him proclaiming that they were complicit in the oppression of Tropican people. Former parties that were abolished by the communists were also restored for the first time in decades.

Some other, small emergency reforms passed by Watere was a significant increase to the size of the legislature, from 237 to 550 seats, a size not seen since the 4300s. After calling fresh parliamentary elections, the current results have been finalized by polling outlets across the country. Provided to the Tropican Daily Dispatch, the current organization of the Parliament of Tropica is as follows:

Tropican National Party: 297 seats
United Democracy Party: 125 seats
Labor Party: 42 seats
People's Coalition: 36 seats
Tropican Green Party: 30 seats
Freedom Party of Tropica: 20 seats

21 October 4545
Parliament unanimously approves ban on Satanailism, outlaws cannibalism
After having been given a platform for countless years by the communists, Parliament has finally dethroned such harmful movements.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The ban was implemented with nearly 100% majority, with only the Freedom Party of Tropica abstaining from the vote.

For decades under communist rule, the only stories that were often received by foreign press were instances of Satanailism running rampant within the nation, cultist movements being given seats in the national legislature, and cannibalism being wholly legalized and encouraged. Hangakore Watere, a former military officer who recently seized control of parliament via a careful series of events has clearly shown himself to be a man of change, wishing for Tropica to rid itself of communist tyranny by any which way possible. Mr. Watere is also a firm believer in the nation being able to return to normalcy, regaining its sense of morals and promoting traditional beliefs. His views were seemingly visualized today after a near unanimous ban on Satanailism, and an official outlawing of cannibalism. The Freedom Party of Tropica was reportedly the only party to not vote yes on the proposal, instead opting to abstain.

Giving a lengthy delegation before Parliament, Keka Tipene, the current Speaker handpicked by Mr. Watere himself, thanked fellow parties for their cooperation with Mr. Watere's "unity government", and congratulating them on finally taking a stance on horrendous issues that have been plaguing the country for countless years.

Members of Parliament,

I cannot believe we had to conduct such a vote, but I am extremely glad we had done so. The communists may be gone, but their cronies belonging to Satanailist cults still exist. While Prime Minister Watere formally arrested various ringleaders of such groups, they were still technically allowed seats within the legislature. Well today I can safely say that is no more. On this day, which is surely to be a historic one for the prosperity of our nation, this Parliament has nearly unanimously voted on a formal ban of Satanailism, and any cults related to it or of a similar nature. Also included in the ban's provisions is a complete outlawing of cannibalism across the nation. This has gone on long enough—Families have been torn apart by this legalization of such a disgusting human act. Mothers have had their children wrenched away from them, only to be murdered and eaten for sustenance. Black markets on the sale of human body parts for either replacement organs or consumption flourished under the corrupt nature of the Communist Party.

We cannot thank our members of Parliament enough for not only cooperating with Mr. Watere's unity government, but congratulate them for standing in solidarity with Mr. Watere's beliefs in enshrining stability in the nation and restoring normalcy and taking a stance on these disgusting acts that have run amok in our nation for so long.

When told the results of the vote, Mr. Watere was reportedly ecstatic at the news. In a statement released by his own office, Mr. Watere's anti-communist actions and bans on immoral sections of Tropican society were merely the "first of many" further normalizing reforms under his administration. "Our new society has no place for these communist demons and cannibal scum. Frankly, the nation would only be free of them if they were executed. Perhaps that may very well be the next measure of my administration."

National Assembly unanimously votes to dissolve the Council of Traditional Elders, forms new upper house
Likely the most controversial decision yet by the Watere government, parties voted unanimously to disband it, announcing that a new, 100 seat legislature referred to as the House of Representatives would fill its place.

The Parliament Building in Tropica City.

In a bill drafted by the center-left and secularist Labour Party, which called for the dissolution of the Council of Traditional Elders, an organ of the Tropican parliament for centuries, seemed destined to fail on the floor. But unexpectedly, the Tropican National Party, United Democracy Party, and the Tropican Green Party voted in favor of the proposal, safely securing a supermajority of 494 yes votes, with 20 no votes and 36 abstaining. Graciously thanking them for their support, Labor Party Secretary Charles White stated that the move was ultimately necessary for Tropica to move into the future, one he described as "Free from religious influence", whether it was from more western faiths or local tribal religions. Mr. White stated that it was also due to the overwhelming amount of Satanailists who had sat in the Council.

With minimal agitation from the public, it seems that the most significant administrative reform to date under the Watere administration has been adopted peacefully. The new legislative body established to fill the its place is the House of Representatives, consisting of 100 seats. Upon the news that their upper house was rendered effectively obsolete, various Elders expressed their frustrations, but reluctantly agreed to either become members of the lower house's parties or retire from politics altogether. Additional sections are expected to be built in the chamber to accommodate 100 deputies, as the previous body consisted of only 50 members. Despite this, Speaker of the National Assembly Keka Tipene called fresh parliamentary elections for both houses of Parliament.

With the results having been received by the Tropican Daily Dispatch, the current organization for both chambers of Parliament are as follows:

House of Representatives:

Tropican National Party: 52 seats
United Democracy Party: 16 seats
Labor Party: 13 seats
People's Coalition: 10 seats
Tropican Green Party: 6 seats
Freedom Party of Tropica: 3 seats

National Assembly:

Tropican National Party: 141 seats
United Democracy Party: 77 seats
Labor Party: 71 seats
People's Coalition: 65 seats
Tropican Green Party: 52 seats
Freedom Party of Tropica: 44 seats
