Beiteynu refuses extradition of freedom fighter
Image
This morning Foreign Minister Siegfried Blaskowitz announced that the government of Beiteynu under President Meyer shall not pursue a policy of extraditing certain individuals affiliated with the Onglian Liberation Army (OLA) including freedom fighter Uinseann Mac Giolla Phádraig who was credited with evading his captors and being granted political asylum in Beiteynu. furthermore Blaskowitz outlined a policy of actively funding the OLA in order to overthrow the authoritarian state of New Englia. Phádraig shall be placed under the protection of the police far from the public.

Beiteynu announces it's decision to airlift it's Yeudish brethren in New Englia

The authoritarian regime of New Englia through it's house of parliament enacted legislation requiring the registration of all Yeudish congregations with the police. the pretext for such actions has been cited as suspected aid to the cause of the OLA especially from the more wealthy members of the Yeudish community in New Englia. The Government of Beiteynu shall therefore announce the commencement of an airlift of Yeuds from New Englia to the land of their forefathers. those wishing to flee must head to the Beiteynuese House in New Indrala where they shall be given free passage. those who'd rather stay on are advised to do so at their own risk and arm themselves if needbe. The Government has placed the military on standby. any such harm inflicted on Yeuds shall result in a declaration of all out war.

Yeudis "welcome to leave but even more welcome to stay," says Shevington

Lord Protector Rafe Shevington has denied New Englia's Yeudish community is under any threat, insisting "Yeudis have lived here for centuries, and we hope they will continue to live here for many, many centuries to come", adding "they are welcome to leave - we certainly would not try to stop them - but they are even more welcome to stay".

He argued that the measures the government introduced to impose checks on synagogues were "necessary for security reasons, but we were careful to make this process as dignified and non-intrusive as possible".

However, a number of leading figures in the Yeudish community have spoken up and told a different story, complaining of harassment by Inglians, harassment by the police and serious incidents at the hands of the Inglian Volunteer Force (IVF), an Inglian paramilitary group which is technically illegal but in practice has long been given a fairly free rein by the police.

first flight of evacuees takes place

This morning BeitAir flight 48 took off from New Indrala carrying 200 Yeuds of New Englian origin from the land of their birth to the land of their ancient forefathers. the authoritarian regime has done little to prevent the evacuation of their former subjects to safety in foreign land. further flights shall take place uninterrupted as long as Yeuds wish to be free of persecution from their gentile brothers and sisters. we have received reports from New Indrala of congregations acquiring various surplus weapons while others construct barricades in Yeudish areas designed to deny access to the police and IVF should they decide to conduct pogroms with government permission.

OLA bomb rips through Hulnew City army barracks, 8 dead, 24 injured

Image
Hulnew City army barracks

A bomb blast at an army barracks in Hulnew City in Central Province has wreaked devastation on a government army barracks base, inflicting 8 deaths and 24 injuries upon army personnel. The Onglian Liberation Army (OLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

In response to the attack, the army and the New Englian Constabulary (NEC) have closed off Hulnew City and are conducting house-by-house searches, almost entirely in Onglian areas. Dozens of individuals have been rounded up and taken in for questioning.

Lord Protector Rafe Shevington has condemned the attack as "a heinous and cowardly act", promised to do "everything that is necessary to defeat this terrorist campaign" and vowed that "this government will never give in to terrorists".

Yeudish Enclaves in Hulnew City and New Indrala hoist the flags of Beiteynu and The Liberation Movement as uprising begins

This Afternoon the Rabbis Spencer Silverman and Gabriel Waldeck of the two reform temples of Hulnew City and New Indrala announced the establishment of The Yeudish Freedom Fighters by hoisting the colours of Beiteynu alongside those of OLA. The YFF has 200 men at its disposal most of whom are former war veterans and high school students armed with bolt action rifles, SMGs, and homemade petrol bombs. The new organization stressed the need to combat the authoritarian regime that is at present responsible for reviving old hatreds. Yeudish areas are being barricaded and the civil population evacuated to a designated area undisclosed.

OOC: Sorry to be awkward again, but there would only be a small community of Yeudis living in New Englia - most of them, I've suggested, living in New Indrala, the capital city. Could we reduce the size of the YFF? I'd suggest maybe 100 or 200, at most.

I appreciate New Englia can be confusing with stuff like this, BTW. Going forward, I'm hoping Moderation/RP Team will consider approving some kind of "Census", so there is a clearer picture of what New Englia's demographics look like. To give you the general picture, though, the population is about one-third Inglian (meaning mainly English) and about two-thirds Onglian (meaning mainly Kilani/Irish, but also some Caldorians/Scots, Draddwyr/Welsh and Mashacara/Native Americans).

OLA cooperates with YFF in a plot to assassinate Alban Fowler

This Morning at the home of National Party minister of Argiculture Alban Fowler, the architect of policies designed to deprive Onglian freeholders of their property via redistribution was killed along with his wife and four children in their modest home by the blast of a bomb planted by members of both the OLA and YFF. This is the first successful assassination attempt to be carried out by the two organizations in their fight against a common foe. The Explosives were of Foreign origin though the country of origin is yet to be discovered.

December 4341

Detention-without-trial extended indefinitely

Image

Following continued Onglian Liberation Army (OLA) violence, including the recent assassination of Agriculture Minister Alban Fowler, Parliament has voted to extend detention-without-trial indefinitely. Detention-without-trial was introduced as an emergency measure during the OLA uprising in Central Province, and was originally expected to be phased out in the aftermath of the conflict.

The vote to extend detention-without-trial indefinitely was won by 67 to 25. Charles Panshawe and other liberal faction MPs campaigned strongly against the bill and tried to delay it as much as possible, holding it up at committee stage and engaging in filibuster tactics on the floor of the chamber, but there was never any serious risk of the government being defeated.

Avery Wulvedon, the Internal Affairs Minister, said the measures were "unfortunate, but fully justified", arguing "liberty is important, but we will have no liberty left to defend if those who wish to destroy us are allowed to succeed". Lord Protector Rafe Shevington echoed this message, also adding that "the New Englian Constabulary are the finest, most honourable, most honest, most courageous police force on the face of Terra, and we have every reason to trust them - we cannot force them to fight a war against terrorism with one hand tied behind their backs".

New detention centres have sprung up all across the country, and the number of OLA and suspected OLA prisoners is estimated at over 20,000. At least 10,000 of those are being detained without trial, having never been convicted of an offence.

The Onglian Civil Rights Association has accused the government of "creating a police state and engendering a climate of fear".

Draddwyr village to be flooded to build reservoir for Inglian city

For years, the growing, mainly Inglian city of Arrowhead in Englia Province has been struggling to meet its water supply needs, meaning there have often been unpopular hosepipe bans and other such restrictions imposed during the hot summer months. The city council's favoured solution has long been to create a reservoir by flooding the nearby Senglia Valley. There is just one problem with that, though: the Senglia Valley is home to Tri Mohon, a Draddwyr village of about 400 people, which includes Gorffwysfeydd, an ancient Draddwyr pagan shrine and resting place for the dead. For reasons of cultural sensitivity, governments have previously refused to give the go-ahead to construct the reservoir, but now, it seems, they have suddenly changed their mind.

Appearing at a press conference with Lord Protector Rafe Shevington, Arrowhead Mayor Josias Child announced he understood "the concerns about Tri Mohon and Gorffwysfeydd" but argued "Tri Mohon is a dying village with a declining population, whereas Arrowhead is a growing, bustling city - we have got to look to the future here, and do what is best for the population as a whole". He also promised that all of the residents of Tri Mohon would be offered alternative accommodation in the form of low-rent council housing in Arrowhead.

Tri Mohon villagers are furious at the proposed move, and many have vowed to remain in their homes until they are evicted by force. Rhona Buell, the chairwoman of the Tri Mohon Residents Association, has said:

Tri Mohon is special, very special - it has been here for as long as anyone knows. Gorffwysfeydd, our ancient shrine and resting place for our dead, dates back to pre-history and is is an invaluable part of Draddwyr heritage and culture. The Inglian City Council and the Inglian national government need to understand that what we have here in Tri Mohon - the combination of the people, the places, the history - is irreplaceable. Once it's been demolished it will be gone forever. But we won't stand for it. We will fight for our rights every step of the way.

The Tri Mohon Residents Association and the Onglian Civil Rights Association are working closely together in their campaign to block the proposal. They have already contacted the governments of two Draddwyr countries, Aloria and North Dovani, in the hope that they will take up their cause.

Wulvedon Assassinated by OLA death squad

This Evening Avery Wulvedon, New Englia's Minister of Internal Affairs along with his wife and children received a nasty surprise that came in the form of four OLA gunmen dressed as members of the Constabulary. They were taken to a abandoned factory and executed for "Crimes against the Onglian People" The Couple's Children were strangled to death. The bodies were then doused in petrol and set ablaze. The OLA has accused the Constabulary of creating a set up.
