Azeez’s Forces Arrive Safely Back In Medina, As Azeez Immediately Rushes Off to Northern Border

After Azeez’s miraculous escape from certain death in Statrica, the famed Commander arrived safely in Medinese ports, where he was met with adoring crowds — but his public smile faded away as he slipped behind blooded doors, and the public caught just a glimpse of strain and unhappiness in his eyes.

While Azeez is not himself blamed by the public for the failure in Statrica, the Sultan is — still, he remains immensely popular and this is generally viewed as an acceptable first slip, and is admired for his quick-thinking and level-headed withdrawal.

Azeez however has immediately got back to work at the northern border, where his troops have reinforced South Utemban forces to defend against invading North Utemban and Talmorian troops. Local South Utembans are divided, with many supporting King Raafith, but many loyalists wishing to re-unite with the north. Some loyalists have even taken up arms, with Imperial troops quickly arresting them, supported by Medinese intelligence agents operating in the region.

A major conflict with Northern Utemban and Talmorian troops is expected to come soon, with Azeez looking to deliver a decisive battle before pushing further northwards and crippling North Utembo, a move which, if successful, could close off the northern conflict and shut off the Utemban theater of what is now being called the Medinese War. This would be incredibly beneficial for Medina, but it seems likely that issues with the largely loyalist population further north makes this less likely to succeed, although Azeez certainly is capable of putting up a solid defence here.

Meanwhile, the rest of the so-called ‘International Coalition’ is expected to launch an offensive in Medina or the Empire itself, despite the Sultan’s call for peace. The mighty Sultan has however now called up all of Medina’s reserves and began quickly making defensive preparations, including calling on civiilians to be ready to resist if occupied in the future, a call which is generally supported. He is also rumoured to be in talks with at least two other nations in an attempt to secure allies for Medina, possibly more.

The conflict is quickly becoming the Empire’s defining moment here — failure would mean denouement, the end of the Sultan’s reign, a complete catastrophe for the Medinese Elpire; victory would mean that Medina would not merely solidify its position as one of the foremost the former colonial nations in Dovani, but would have a mandate to continue expanding across all of Dovani and becoming a world power in due course. But which will it be, and how much will the people have to suffer before this happens? Is Medina on the back foot, or is defence actually the best strategy here? Can Medina stand alone, or will it’s allies abroad come to its aid?

More as it happens.

Tropica Accepts New Constitution Again, Forming Absolure Monarchy

Tropica’s first Imperial constitution granted the Sultan’s brother immense powers to maleness decisions when the divided and borderline anarchist Parliament could not, and granted the moanrchy large powers over war and diplomacy. Now, however, the people have come to love the new king and reject the failed, useless Parliament altogether — so much so that they accepted a vote to abolish Parliament altogether with a majority yes vote of 72%!

This should make Tropica just as efficient as its fellow Imperial Medinese nations, both already absolute monarchies, although it is still strongly in favour of remaining within the Empire and committing more than ever to its defence against the International Coalition and even the Security Council if necessary.

Report From The Battle Of Kansala

After months of fighting, the Talmorian / Northern utembo / Esinsundu forces in Utembo recently put the South Utemban capital of Kansala under siege in an effort to force King Raafith to capitulate. However, Azeez’s recent arrival on the scene could be the key to turning the war around, at least for the moment.

Taking over from the apparently overwhelmed South Utemban commander, the far more experienced and skilled Azeez was able to utilise a large number of Medinese forces to rout the enemy’s rearguard outside Kansala while Talmorian troops were disposed with siege organisations. The surprise attack, which saw Medina’s first use of its elite units in history, alongside some of Medina’s only tanks and specialist equipment, was a very successful all-out assault on the enemy that is sure to prove Medina’s strength and provide some security for the King.

The assault began at dawn, with troops apparently encountering the Talmorian forces by accident in the East — at least, that’s what it looked like. In actuality, this was a smart deceptive move from Azeez, who used the opportunity to ambush the enemy with a large number of Medinese troops. Deftly manouvering his army to attack at Talmoria’s weakest points, supported by the use of six of Medina’s tanks (of which only two were severely damaged) on two fronts forced a retreat, after which Azeez used his characteristic vehicular chase to continue dealing damage to the enemy after victory was attained.

With troops setting off in trucks, on motorcycles, even on horseback — any way that would allow them to gain a speed advantage on the enemy — Azeez was able to wipe out good numbers of the enemy’s number as they retreated, though much of the army did manage to escape the attack.

Medina certainly took some heavy casualties, but also inflicted a great deal of damage once the enemy and gained a good strategical advantage by forcing out the enemy’s rearguard and exposing the besieging troops rear. Now, Azeez appears to be focusing in pressing his advantage by trying to dismantle enemy lines of communication and supply lines, while reinforcing his army with more troops from mainland Medina previously reserved for a thorough defense against invading troops.

Still, the Talmorians have a vast advantage in technology and their siege on the South Utemban Capital is set to take a heavy toll on morale for South Utembo, even with their rearguard routing.

Will the Talmorians recognise Azeez’s skill and come to the table? Or will they seize the day and deliver a crushing blow to Medina, opening up an easy route to the Medinese border? Or, under pressure from his suffering citizens, will Raafith betray the Empire?

More as it happens.

OOC: just for clarification, the Northern Council are NOT involved in Medina, just a mistake because of some confusion about an earlier post: bombings still occurring, but will be rectified :)

Sultan on Security Council, Naval Victory

The Sultan has finally responded to New Endralon’s recent proposal to the World Congress Security Congress which proposes that nations across the globe no longer trade with Medina on a few specific materials and goods which could be used for war.

An absolute disgrace. They intend to put me on trial? Good luck! As if that could be a fair trial... It’s nothing but a colonialist nonsense resolution, based on the false foundation that our protectorates are illegitimate. South Utembo was formed by a peaceful agreement by both the King of Utembo and I, and Tropica’s constitution was voted in twice by the people to avoid the catastrophic anarchism that was previously dominating the region.

This is nothing but an attempt to thwart Dovani once again and keep the lowly colonial nations in their place... Well no more! Medina shall not fall so easily.

Meanwhile he also celebrated a recent naval victory against New Endralonian forces arriving by boat, with more than 1000 casualities with the enemy losing badly to Tropica’s merciless and brilliant tactical use of submarines, calling it “a stark warning to those who wish us harm that we are not to be underestimated.”

Statrica Votes to Avoid Offensive on Medina But Maintains War

Today the Statrican assembly voted to focus troops on securing and improving their domestic situation, with long-hidden radical and possibly violent socialist and even monarchist groups arising in the face of the scorched earth policy implemented by Azeez which has left parts of the economy shattered and led to an uncomfortable increase in tensions in the region.

The vote is not binding, and the two nations shall remain at war, but means that Medina does have one fewer enemy to worry about in the coming months.

Azeez Faces Retreat In Utembo as Raafith Begins to Crack Under Pressure, Empire Shrinks

The only mildly popular King Raafith of South Utembo was forced to make a desperate attempt to flee the city of Kansara today, arriving at the Sultan’s palace at 8.47 PM.

The Sultan’s brother Raafith is widely seen as a usurper in the nation, taking hold at the end of the Medinese-Utemban war some years ago. While peace had generally been maintained up to this point, the recent war with Talmoria and Norh Utembo, with the capital coming under siege, has led to a resurgence in loyalist movements and put immense pressure on Raafith to capitulate. While still insisting on his right to Kingship, his fleeing from the country “for his own safety” has struck morale in the South Utemban armies badly, which was already at rock bottom.

With Kansara near enough fallen, Azeez, who had recently struck a powerful victory against the Talmorian forces, looked furious as he was forced to make a retreat after Raafith’s escape.

The Sultan has harangued Raafith for the failure, though will obviously maintain his royal status, with South Utembo now falling into the hands of the enemy and unifying the Utemban nation once more. While Utembo has agreed to no longer Perdue retribution and entered peace talks with the Sultan, they seem to be absolutely certain that they won’t restrict any other nation’s attempts to use their land or resources to invade Medina, even if it means perpetual war.

Meanwhile, Azeez has taken out his own frustrations on a lowly general who lost a great deal of casualities on he retreat to a surprise attack from the Talmorians, with Azeez sacking him on the spot. Azeez has been developing a more ruthless streak in recent months, reports suggest, increasingly feeling that his generals aren’t up to the task without him, bar a few exceptions. Azeez seems to be absolutely furious with the state of the war. Indeed, it seems that Azeez is the main driving force for success for Medina, scoring the only major victories yet aside from the recent naval assault.

Still, he maintains that “we will win this war”, citing the Medinese and Tropican lands as “considerably more secure” and “strongly pro-Medina”, saying that “I invite anyone to begin any attempt to invade us, for it will be futile: so long as I breathe, the Sultan leads and the people have faith, Medina will never fall.”
