The King Julien XIII campaign does not accept this corrupt and undemocratic decision by the WCRC. It is clear that the Majatran elite backing Mizzi have overthrown the previous WCRC chairman (known to us only as "CCP") over his refusal to disqualify King Julien XIII, and have now installed a more "pragmatic" and compliant chairwoman. We also ask if the WCRC has any connection to the GRC, a known corrupt organisation that for some reason continues to consider Istalia and Vanuku great powers (when they are clearly not) and forces this opinion upon all governments.

Declare your candidacy for President of the General Assembly now!

Election for President of the General Assembly will begin on Saturday, September 1st, one week from now. The GA President is the leader and Presiding Officer of the General Assembly and has the power to enforce rules in the GA including World Congress Resolutions and Game Rules. The President will also work closely with the World Congress Role Play Coordinator (WCRC) to come up with new Role Plays, reforms, and ideas for the World Congress as a whole.

All players are invited to stand for election. You must choose a name and nationality for your candidate. Your character may be from any country you choose. Please use this thread to announce your candidacy and your plans if elected.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO RUN IN THE ELECTION?

Characters from any country may stand in the election. There are no age, professional, or educational restrictions.

DO I HAVE TO BE CURRENTLY PLAYING IN THE COUNTRY MY CHARACTER COMES FROM?

No, you do not need to be currently active in your character's country to run him or her for election, and you do not need permission from that country's government.

CAN CHARACTERS FROM FORMER COLONIES RUN?

Yes, characters from the Former Colonies may stand for election as GA President. However, Former Colonies may not cast votes during the election as Former Colonies are barred from voting within the World Congress.

CAN I RUN MORE THAN ONE CANDIDATE?

No. Only one candidate per player is allowed.

MY COUNTRY IS A SECURITY COUNCIL MEMBER. CAN I RUN CANDIDATES FOR BOTH GA AND SC PRESIDENTS?

Yes. However, GA President and SC President must be two different players. If you win both elections, the World Congress Role Play Coordinator will ask you to choose which position you prefer. The vacant position will go to the runner-up.

HOW LONG DOES THE PRESIDENT SERVE?

The GA President will serve until the end of September. A new election will be held at the start of the October Session and every Session thereafter. There are no term limits for the office of GA President. If elected, you may run for re-election as often as you wish. However, Presidents who under-perform may be barred from standing for reelection in consecutive terms (as determined by the WCRC in consultation with Moderation).

CAN THE PRESIDENT BE REMOVED?

Yes. The President can be removed by a General Assembly Resolution or by the WCRC in consultation with Moderation.

WHAT ARE THE PRESIDENT'S POWERS AND RESPONSIBILITIES?

The GA President's powers and responsibilities are to:

  • Preside over all General Assembly debates, maintaining order and decorum at all times in accordance with Game Rules.
  • Actively listen and engage with Delegates in General Assembly debates, and propose action-oriented solutions to address their concerns.
  • Maintain a minimum of one General Assembly Resolution per week. Resolutions should generally be encouraged or solicited from Member Nation Delegations.
  • Write Resolutions as necessary to further your character's goals and meet the Minimum Resolution Requirement. The GA President has the exclusive right to place Resolutions on the game system immediately without first seeking Co-Sponsors. Format and length guidelines listed in the Game Rules must be strictly adhered to.
  • Process Resolutions in a timely manner. Resolutions should not remain in the Sponsorship or Vote stages an unreasonable length of time.
  • Edit Resolution proposals for format, length, and concision in coordination with the proposing Delegation and in accordance with Game Rules.
  • Inform Moderation when a Resolution has garnered enough Co-Sponsors and request that the Resolution be placed on the game system for voting.
  • Inform governments when a Resolution is at vote through Private Messages, and encourage them to vote.
  • Coordinate with the President of the Security Council to determine how passed Resolutions should be implemented and implement them timely.
  • Keep past Resolutions accessible and organized.
  • Oversee the General Assembly and World Congress Wiki pages and update them as necessary.
  • Keep governments informed of their rights as Member Nations and encourage them to take full advantage to advance their foreign policy goals.
  • Stay abreast of international issues debated in the General Assembly and Security Council.
  • Role Play the President character in accordance with the foreign policy goals of their country or their personal political goals. The President is not required to maintain political neutrality and is expected to use their office to advance the interests of their country.
  • Be an active Role Player. The GA and SC Presidents will be responsible for leading a major World Congress Role Play the details of which will be revealed if elected.
  • Remain in regular contact with and submit to oversight by the WCRC to coordinate World Congress matters. WCRC decisions are final. In case of a breakdown in communication, concerns should be reported to Moderation.
  • Propose changes to the World Congress Charter subject to WCRC and Moderation approval. If approved, the proposed changes should be put to vote in a General Assembly Resolution.
  • Stay active. If the President becomes inactive for 3 days without notice, a new election will be called.
  • Serve until October 1st. A new election will be called at that time.
Additional powers and responsibilities may be assigned in consultation with the WCRC.

HOW DOES THE ELECTION WORK?

Players may declare their candidacy in this thread from now until September 1. Voting will begin Saturday, September 1. Moderation will place a new law on the game-system called ***!!! Vote for World Congress President of the General Assembly. The law will list all the candidates. Any party may propose a Bill with that law. Simply click the name of the preferred candidate, put it to vote, and pass the Bill by simple majority.

The election will last for 3 days (72 hours).

This thread is for campaign-related posts ONLY. Any questions should be directed to the WCRC or the Moderation/GRC Queries Thread.

@Red I know you've been extraordinarily busy in RL, so I'm not meaning to come across as harsh or anything here, but there are a few issues/questions with this I feel I probably ought to raise.

1. The post states the election will begin on September 1st, and that this is also the date for the close of nominations. This information is obviously an error, since today's date is October 8th. The post also says the next GA President will "Serve until October 1st", which again, also looks like a mistake.

2. The post states "The election will last for 3 days (72 hours)". Would you consider extending this, even if it is only to 4 or 5 days? The reason being that, especially if there are a number of candidates, it may take time for the parties in national parliaments to decide who they want to vote for. Also bear in mind that bills take one and a half days just to complete the voting phase.

3. What is happening re: elections for the Security Council President? As I said previously on Discord, I personally believe there is a strong case for merging the positions of GA and SC President, but this is your and the GRC's call, of course.

4. Sorry if this sounds picky, but I think it would be better to start a new, fresh thread for the October election, rather than continuing to use the old thread (ie. this thread) that was used for the September election.

Agnes Stein for General Assembly President!
Image

Who is Agnes Stein?
Agnes Stein, born 25 October, 4398, is a Dundorfian politician who served as Chairwoman of the State Council of the DDR from 4446-4460, and since 4462 has served as an Associate Justice on the People's Court in Dundorf. Born to poor parents, Stein has always had empathy for those struggling economically, and has done everything in her power to aid them. She studied Political Science and Economics at Ludendorf State University, at which she later taught at as a Professor for 7 years. Lovingly married for 45 years, Stein is the mother of 2 children.

Stein's Political Legacy in Dundorf
Stein was famous for crossing the aisle to form the so-called 'Lila Koalition' with the VBD, the main conservative opposition to her party, the NAP-VF. She was also instrumental in creating a new constitution for Dundorf, which has streamlined the government substantially. In addition, she passed term-limits into law to prevent any dictators from seizing control of the DDR, and willingly resigned after 14 years in office. Her tireless fight for the poor has left them better off than ever before, with the expansion of many state welfare programs under her administration considerably lowering the poverty and unemployment rates.

Why should you vote for Stein?
Stein hopes to expand on President Mizzi's work and further unite Terra in peace, with global co-operation and trust. She promises to serve as a representative for all countries, and all people, in Terra. Her Presidency will give all nations and all people an equal voice.

Over her 26 years in public service, Stein has had an impeccable reputation as a staunch anti-corruption force within the DDR. She also understands the importance of hearing and valuing all sides to an argument or dilemma, considering every solution possible, and remaining politically neutral - as evidenced by her 'Lila Koalition.' Stein has also proven that the matters of human suffering and poverty are problems that all nations should address, expanding the DDR's foreign aid during her 14 years in office. She also believes in human rights for all - this includes fighting against discrimination based on race, religion, gender, sexuality, or nationality. Lastly, her environmental record is impeccable as well; she fought for the expansion of the Dosmund Accords, and helped Dundorf to lower its carbon emissions and to make thousands of green jobs during her tenure.

Agnes Stein is a great woman, with a great record, and would make a superb General Assembly President.

So vote for Stein, because a vote for Stein is a vote for a better future - for everyone!

Aghar Yassen for the Presidency of the WC's General Assembly
Image

Aghar Yassen (83) is carrer politicians and diplomat of the Istalian Republic with more than 60 years of experiences who served as President of the Republic for three terms and then covered the role of Minister of Foreign Affairs in several Governments of Istalia, especially the ones of National Unity formed to face the terrorist threat that menaced Istalia in the last two decades.
Aghar Yassen has been the voice of the Istalian retourn on the International stage advocating the promotion and protection of Democracy and Human Rights all around the world.

Aghar Yassen is committed to maintain the topics of Democracy and Human Rights at the center of the World Congress Agenda aimed to promote definitively for the World Congress not only a role of mere international forum for the nation-states of Terra, but a veritable shield of the persecuted, discriminated and abused peoples of Terra subjected to violation of the most basic rights of individual as human beings and as member of their respective society. The World Congress must to recognize the role that since its veritable first Resolution it assumed, "Guardian of the Rights and of the wellbeing of the peoples of Terra and of each individuals" and for which many dedicated offices have been created, like the last one, the World Congress Human Rights Office. Why to have a such Office if then the World Congress cannot intervene to contrast abuses in this sense?

Aghar Yassen wants to put an end to the ignoble justification by part of rogue nations that accuse the World Congress to want persue a specific "obscure" and "hidden" political agenda against them. The World Congress should act proteting all the persecuted of these world, it is not an istalian agenda or the agenda of this or that nation, but it is a veritable committment aimed to avoid abuses against human beings and not a mere justification to defend the "right" to discriminate, abuse and persecute other people on the basis of their ethnicity, religion, gender, political opinion, ecc...

Indipendently by where we're born, we are all human beings and only for this and without the need of other explaination or justification every individual of Terra shall be respected in its dignity and its being and treated simply as a Man.

A vote for Aghar Yassen will be a vote for a World which doesn't want turn the head to the horrors of our times and doesn't want turn the back to those we demand an aid, a support, a voice to express them.

Thank you

Meet... Christoph Buchheim

Image
Christoph Buchheim

Christoph Buchheim, the internationally renowned Dorvish mathematician who recently celebrated winning the Hartvig Prize for Mathematics for the breakthroughs in mathematical theory he achieved during his work on the International Committee for the Estimation of the End Date of Capitalism (ICEEDC), has announced he is running for election to the office of President of the General Assembly.

Through his work with the ICEEDC, Christoph has accurately predicted capitalism will self-destruct Terra-wide on 19th April 4527. Alone amongst the candidates, Christoph has the wisdom, vision and energy to guide the nations of Terra in how to navigate the cataclysm that is now fast approaching.

Buchheim has been fermenting the overthrow of capitalism since he was 10 years old and has a far superior CV to any of the other candidates, having worked as a policy adviser to numerous and greatly varied reputable and globally respected organisations from all over the world, including the School of Metzist Studies in Dorvik, the Dorvische Kommunistische Partei, the Communist League of Terra, the League of Communists, Socialists, Leftists and Anarchists of Terra, the World Anti-Capitalist Initiative, the Communist-Socialist Alliance, the Socialist Revolutionary International Guard, Artanian Workers International, the Revolutionary Confederation of Trade Unions, the International Anarchist Action Network and the Terran COMINTERN. All of these organisations, and many more, are supporting and funding his campaign to become President of the General Assembly.

If elected General Assembly President, Christoph promises to work towards achieving the following:

- As a long-term objective, to replace the General Assembly and the Security Council with a 1000-member International Council of Workers Representatives.

- To hold workshops on Metzism at the World Congress on a rolling 24/7 basis, so that all delegates and visitors can learn the truth about socialism.

- To require all delegates in the General Assembly to address each other as "comrade", in order to foster greater co-operation and solidarity between the peoples of the world.

- To forbid the use of monarchical and aristocratic titles within the chamber of the General Assembly.

- To use the World Congress budget to fund a fleet of 20 Communist Hot Air Balloons, to take Metzist philosophy to the furthest reaches of the globe.

- To establish International Karlstein Metz Day as an official World Congress sponsored international holiday, and to fund celebrations and educational projects to run alongside it.

- To turn the Whale Island into a socialist commune, and in particular, to evict all right-wing and pro-business lobbyists and hand over their office space to workers representatives.

- To replace the World Congress's current flag design with the hammer and sickle.

- To close down all prayer rooms and other faith-related functions within the precincts of the World Congress.

- To appoint the Metzist-inspired, Dorvish-based People's Orchestra the official orchestra of the World Congress.

- To require every government in Terra to appoint a Minister for the Development of Socialism.

- To construct an International Museum of Capitalism on the Whale Island, to educate visitors about how and why capitalism is collapsing. Also to fund subsidiary Museums of Capitalism in every nation in Terra.

- To thoroughly review all World Congress practices, processes and documentation in order to identify and eliminate pro-capitalist bias and indoctrination.

- To change the World Congress's official language from Luthorian to Dundorfian and generally promote the learning of the Dundorfian language, so citizens across Terra can better appreciate and understand the works of Karlstein Metz.

- To restore the international influence and prestige of the World Congress.

- To nationalise Terra's 200 largest companies and have them merged into an International Workers Collective.

- To cancel Third World debt, and failing this, to encourage Third World nations to cease their loan repayments.

- To recognise and support the People's Democratic Republic of Jelbania and all other worker states across Terra.

- To require Security Council nations to be represented at the Security Council by their leading trade union umbrella group instead of by their government.

- To abolish the vetoes of permanent members of the Security Council.

- To reform General Assembly President elections, so that votes are cast by parties instead of nations.

- To explore ways in which to enable Third World nations to participate in Security Council elections.

- To promote fair employment rights and fair trade across Terra.

- To set targets for overseas aid spending.

- To establish a new set of World Congress Awards, to recognise and encourage those who work for peace and justice.
