Below are the archived discussions of the 24th General Assembly Session, which lasted from 4463 to 4478.

Manosindus Von Thaller, General of Deltaria

Greetings Delegates, I come here to inform you of our Consortium Alliance. With four nations so far subscribed to the treaty, the days of imperialism are indeed numbered. I am sure the international community welcomes the collective security arrangement that has been made (sarcastic). May the imperialism present in the West Majatran War and in the Nounonde conflict come to an end forever for now, an alliance of nations will defend the sacred sovereignty of all nations in Terra!

Sania bin Yusef Al-Kafuri, Istalian Ambassador to the World Congress

Greetings Collegues,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Istalia appointed me as new World Congress Istalian Ambassador. The first issue on which I will express the position of my nation regard the Noumonde current situation: Istalia thinks that we should agree to make enter Esinsundu troops in Noumode alongside the Canrillaise troops if this could satisfy and appease the Malgys, I think that the Noumonde's Canrillaises should not be afraid by such decision. The Esinsundu will be able to comply the same work of the Canrillaise troops and we don't think that this could harm the Noumonde Canrillaises.

About the proposal made by the Malgy's representant, it is clear that currently the ethnic and social situation in Noumonde doesn't allow the establishment of a democracy which will surely become a Malgy's democracy.
We agree in the need of a Bill of Rights to impose the limits to the Government and underline rights and duties of the citizens, but... you know... a Bill of Rights, like a Constitution, can always be modified with a qualified majority and we fear that this qualified majority could be easily seized by the Malgy's majority in Noumonde.
Despite no nation should be led by a dictature, we think that Noumonde could be not be led by a democracy without some rigid institutional measures to assure an effective shared power system.

About the International Trials, I think that a conciliatory process could be more usefull than a series of Trials. However, it is undeniable there are elements who perpetuated so heinous crimes that we cannot forget so easily and we cannot close our eyes toward the demand of Justice by part of the Malgys.

Sofia Urquhart, Baltusian Ambassador to the World Congress

Fellow delegates,

We urge fellow countries to take action against Saridan, a nation which has recently legalized segregation. Saridan has had a history of morally reprehensible actions, from legalizing slavery to threatening nuclear war with their neighbors. It seems that things were on the upturn with this nation, but now it seems they are relapsing. We, the people of Baltusia will take our own actions against Saridan, and hope that those among us will follow suit.

Demodocus Costas, Keymon Representative in the World Congress
While Keymon is anti-segregation, under our new foreign policy direction, we will not assist Baltusia in there sanctions nor will we enact our own.

Unless this issue comes to trouble Keymon and it’s allies, we shall not intervene on foreign affairs of other nations, even nations that enact racially repulsive laws.

The foreign ministry does support your cause, however this isn’t our issue to deal with and the people of Saridan can deal with it themselves.

Valeria Laetitia, Selucian Ambassador to the World Congress

Hon. Ambassadors of Terra,

Looking the other way is not the solution. As the Consul of Selucia Fulvia Arusa recently warned, shielding oneself in "national sovereignty" to turn a blind eye to clear cases of discrimination is not tolerable and is morally reprehensible. Saridan's current laws, however, do not correspond "per se" to a flagrant attempt against human dignity, but rather as a product of the legislation carried out by the national parliament and which, as we have seen, has the support of its citizens.

It is difficult to understand for some nations and governments, such as ours, that such laws and opinions are considered valid in the century in which we live, but we can not interfere with a popular will accepted by everyone. The people of Saridan seem resigned to accept these laws, and if they do not protest themselves, are blind or in accordance with those laws, the international community can not put itself ahead of the citizens of the nation.

However, the Selucian government does condemn the segregationist laws of Saridan, and asks them to reconsider their current legislation, removing the antiquated concept of "races" or the use of religion as an excuse to put some citizens above others.

An economic condemnation of the nation, based on embargoes, will not help the cause. On the contrary, it will increase the anger and frustration of its citizens, who will ask for tougher positions against other countries, which will probably be blamed for the disaster. It is about making the government and its people see that the current laws go against everything we should aspire to as a species, and I repeat, we officially condemn the segregationist laws and we request the appearance of the ambassador of Saridan to explain the attitude of their government and, from there, decide the next steps to apply.

Szepesy Alexa, New Endralon / Kizenia / Kizaki Ambassador in the World Congress

The Government of the conferderation appointed me as the new ambassador to the World Congress.
In our country, We endorse the words issued by the Selvacian ambassador.

While we condemn segregationist laws, we believe that commercial embargoes and economic sanctions do not stifle the government. These measures affect the people of Saridan and will only lead to a conflictual scenario in the future.

Here, in this forum, we announce that our confederation will lift the embargoes in the month of December.

Moreover, We want to make a "wake-up call" to the international community about the situation in Temania. This former republic has quickly become a monarchy by the provision of a single party.

We request the urgent intervention of the Temania ambassador for explain the changes in his country.

Aldert Visser, Saridani Ambassador to the World Congress

On behalf of the Saridani people I thank the ambassadors of New Endralon and Selucia for their wisdom in these matters. It is time to move past the outdated practice of embargoing and to look towards solving issues peacefully and respectfully in the future.

Charles de Tugart, Foreign Minister of Alduria:

Fellow delegates,

The government and the people of Alduria express their horror at the assassination of Salvatore Alletta, the President of Istalia. We hope the perpetrators of this crime are brought to justice as quickly as possible. We also offer our full condolences to Salvatore Alletta's family and many friends, and to the Istalian people, who have lost a great man in the most tragic and appalling circumstances.

But delegates, we also cannot fail to comment on the fact that the Deltarian dictator, Manosindus Von Thaller, has been witnessed cheering the news of Alletta's death. The General Assembly will agree, I hope, that this disgusting behaviour would represent a serious fault in any of us, but that this is especially so when it is displayed by the Head of Government of a state which is an important member of the World Congress.

We would therefore like to invite Manonsindus Von Thaller to offer an explanation of this incident and to apologise.

Valeria Laetitia, Selucian Ambassador to the World Congress

Colleagues,

What happens when a child realizes that if he cries or has a tantrum, people will pay attention to him? That he will do it repeatedly. We are in the same situation. Manoindus Von Thaller's statements, in addition to following the wake of the attitude of many members of his family, should not surprise us. They seek to attract attention, at the expense of whoever they are, without the least respect for others. I do not believe that a person who laughs at a murder, against a democratically elected figure who has not committed crimes against humanity, must appear in this House. The Istalian Republic can take the measures it deems appropriate, as is obvious, but this chamber should ignore those statements, because they are just that, attitudes that seek attention to have a minute of fame.

Baron Rnuf Ashur, Vanukean Ambassador to World Congress:

Fellow Delegates, we concur with the Selucian ambassador. While we abhor those heinous acts that have befallen our ally Istalia, the words of the petulant dictator in Deltaria are shallow and publicity seeking and typical of that pariah regime and its Thallerist despot's attempts to stir up trouble or create a smokescreen for real atrocities.

Have no doubt though that Vanuku continues to keep a vigilant eye on that regime's actions, its dark policies and its totalitarian methodology.
