Resolution 80

The Security Council

Reaffirming its commitment to stability and peace in the continent of Majatra

Recalling its obligation to maintain a stable majatra

Reaffirming that the refusal to open bilateral talks by both Selucian and Malivian authorities threatens the stability of the continent and the safety of their people

Expressing grave concern For the increase in tensions between the Republic of Selucia and the Federal Republic of Malivia and the continued disregard for human rights in this dispute

Deploring the Selucian authorities handling of civilians and disregard for human rights

Also Deploring the provocative behaviour of the Malivian authorities which increases tension in this dispute

Does hereby move to implement measures aimed at forcing both government's to open bilateral talks and solve the dispute in a civil and orderly manner

The Security Council, in executing the aforementioned measures, issues the following mandate,

- That all nations shall direct their respective ambassadors to both the Republic of Selucia and Federal Republic of Malivia to formally request the two sovereign nations to open bilateral talks between them.

-That all nations will continue to pressure both the government of Selucia and the government of Malivia into opening negotiations for as long as talks have not been opened

-That the World Congress Security Council shall send a representative to a meeting between the two nations as a arbiter if negotiations have indeed been opened

-That the World Congress Security Council shall continue to monitor the situation as it develops in hopes of implementing increased measures to prevent the boiling over of tensions.

Merlkai Hzar, Vanuku's Permanent Representative to World Congress:

The Kingdom of Vanuku can not entertain the thought of voting for this resolution to pass until Deltaria removes the wholly unnecessary diplomatic and economic sanctions it has imposed upon Selucia.

This organisation cannot seriously be asked to act impartially in talks between Selucia and Malivia when one of its permanent security council members is overtly leaning on one of the two negotiating nations.

If Deltaria is truly dedicated to maintaining peace and stability in Majatra and wishes to resolve this matter in a "civil and orderly manner" it must be prepared to change its stance first.

Will Ambassador Prusik confirm if his nation will lift the sanctions?

Tadeáš Prusík, Permanent Deltarian representative to the World Congress

Deltaria is and will always be dedicated to peace and stability in the region as it is beneficial to all parties involved. As a gesture of good will Deltaria will pledge to lift all sanctions it has imposed on Selucia if this resolution has been adopted

World Congress Coordinator

Since I have not updated the World Congress since the elections, no that would not be the case. Until I make such a motion, it is not inherit. While I appreciate your burning desire to be involved, the topic was never posted and thus it never officially "started". Therefore Keymon's vote is inactive and the current members mentioned in THIS thread are required to participate.

"Dorvik will echo what the representative from Vanuku said. Unfortunately, this matter seems like its rooted in some alleged religious text, the fact that sovereign nations are claiming sovereignty over an island that once held a massive swathe of the world under its thumb, is behind me. It is either blind stupidity or people have ulterior motives for supporting such an outlandish claim.

With that the Dorvish Republic votes NO to this resolution in an effort to call out the outlandish and quite frankly insane theories behind it.

Merlkai Hzar, Vanuku's Permanent Representative to World Congress:

The response from the Deltarian ambassador is disappointing and gives us little choice but to vote NO to the resolution.

We still encourage Ambassador Prusik's government to rethink the need for unilateral sanctions and would reconsider re-opening negotiations on this matter once they are lifted. While the sanctions remain in place, Vanukean naval assets will remain vigilant in the vicinity of Selucia to ensure the sea lanes remain open for the vast majority of nations who still wish to trade with the Res Publica.
