Kind of think only reason there was a veto was because UN model had one and influenced formation. Memory is that was sort of way to get USSR and US to reach agreement on viable big organization.
I was not here but have read that there were some most powerful nations that seemed like naturals for that role. The replacing of some of the permanent members with others undermines the whole concept.
My opinion is also self centered not pan-terran and is opposition to veto by any nation. Opinion also is no opposition to permanent members per se but since "permanent" is not permanent might want to look at how become a de facto member particularly since the new permanent members are not planning to give up their veto.
The compromises on limitations on the veto being absolute that have been suggested sound like ways forward.
