Traianus Bhaskara, Selucian representative to the World Congress:

Selucia joins Istalia in condemning the vile Pontesian regime and its crimes against humanity, and we also wish to draw attention to its militaristic nature which establishes Pontesi as a threat to neighboring countries, including our own. Selucia calls for international sanctions against the Pontesian regime until the Andonian-Girogosian dictatorship is overthrown or its crimes against humanity end. Selucia wishes to join nations like Istalia and Seko in their condemnation of Pontesian barbarity, and we hope that the government of Selucia will join our Senate in adopting a harsh policy against the fascist regime. We also call on the Security Council to take action and introduce international sanctions against Pontesi.

"We applaud the General Assembly for attempting to take action on this situation, in the turmoil that has erupted since the democratically elected government in Pontesi has taken over we have been conducting wide-scale reviews of previous laws. I have spoken personally with the Minister of Justice and Territorial Administration and confirmed that the practice of slavery was not practiced upon the creation of the Republic of Pontesi. I have also spoken with the President, the Prime Minister and the President of the National Assembly and that the archaic law remains on the books but the National Assembly is voting to end and remove that immediately. Unfortunately a legally existing, but radical and racist party the Selucian National Yeudish Party has pushed this radical, violent agenda and we strongly condemn it."

Image Ms. Nishi Hana, Sekowan Permanent Representative to the World Congress:
We would like to thank the Istalian Ambassador for raising the issue of slavery in Pontesi in this chamber. As a response to this heinous revelation, President Baba Takara took decisive action by issuing Executive Directive 001.4820: Executive Directive in Response to the Ongoing Practice of Slavery in Pontesi, which:
  • Terminated the diplomatic and economic relationship between Pontesi and Seko, and;
  • Increased humanitarian support to the victims and opponents of slavery and the slave trade in Pontesi, and;
  • Condemned the leadership of the Government of Pontesi.
To this end, we appreciate the solidarity expressed by Mr. Bhaskara and the Government of Selucia in our collective effort to attract international attention to this horrific practice and trade.

We recognize the statement provided by Permanent Representative Kassouni as a step in the right direction, however, we are disappointed that the President nor the Prime Minister have spoken directly to the international community on an issue of such magnitude. We believe that the leaders of Pontesi should express their condemnation of this practice in this chamber so that we can ascertain their sincerity. Nevertheless, we are encouraged by the message made by Representative Kassouni, and ask for a few points of clarification:
  • First, what sort of economic restitution will be made to victims of slavery and human trafficking within Pontesi?
  • Second, will the Government of Pontesi commit to ratifying all international treaties which outlaw slavery, including but not limited to Global Emancipation Treaty, the Anti Slavery Treaty, and the International Rejection of Slavery Agreement? Such safeguards will help to reassure Seko and the broader international community that Pontesi is genuine in rejecting this barbaric practice.
  • Third, will the Government of Pontesi allow international observers to monitor the government's efforts in providing emancipation to all victims of this racist and violent policy? We hope that such an undertaking will be lead by the World Congress, but the Government of Seko is prepared to head the effort to corroborate the claims made by the Government of Pontesi and to assure our peoples that we a restoration of relations is possible.

"We appreciate the kind words from the Permanent Representative from Seko, I speak with the full support of the Pontesian government and President Andonian did make statements to the Pontesian press. I can tell you directly that the President will speak at some point to this body; however Pontesi is still in the midst of a serious change. For decades Pontesian people have been oppressed, their rights violated and long-standing abuses have come to bear and the Pontesian government is focused on repairing this. The issue of slavery in Pontesi is simple, since the declaration of the Republic of Pontesi several years prior, the practice of slavery and human trafficking has been illegal and not tolerated. A series of laws and actions were passed by the Selucian National Yeudish Party, a party which is now defunct, that violated human rights to the max in the nation. The new government has been focused on cracking down on these abuses but in some recesses of the Pontesian Law, things existed that permitted this, thing's were continuing to find and remove as we see them.

To answer your points, the Ministry of Justice and Territorial Administration has worked to identify victims of the former SNYP's slavery and human trafficking and have worked with them to largely "restore" their previous lives if such a thing could ever happen. Second, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently conducting a wide-scale review of all treaties and potential treaties and I will personally pass those along. I see no issue with them being ratified but I am not the National Assembly nor is Pontesi a dictatorial government, the people and their representatives will decide on the ratification. Third, I would welcome the government of Seko to send monitors to Pontesi and we would cooperate fully with you. What I can say that no one is legally enslaved in Pontesi, any businesses or facilities used in human trafficking have been seized and the National Police and the National Security Service are continuing their sweeps to ensure these perpetrators are caught. The National Police, combined with several other agencies have set up the Human Trafficking Task Force which deals with both human trafficking and slavery as a whole."

Minister of Forgein Affairs of Badara, Asim Seif

Badara joins the rest of the assembly in condemnation of Pontesia, and the Libertarian Party will introduce a bill to place trade sanctions on Pontesia if they do not stop violating human rights within 1 year. We also condemn any nation who expels people because of religion or culture and we will, to the best of our abilities, expect refugees to our nation.
Interested in not responding to ridiculous accusations, namely from Jakania, and Lourania, and now Valruzia

Under Sekowan naming conventions, the family name comes first. Thus, Permanent Representative Nishi Hana's family name is "Nishi."
Image Ms. Nishi Hana, Sekowan Permanent Representative to the World Congress:
I thank Permanent Representative Kassouni for his clarifications.

Nonetheless, the Permanent Representative's inability to elucidate upon which treaties the National Assembly will seek to ratify underscores the importance of hearing from a representative of the government equipped to speak with conviction on such matters, such as Prime Minister Eshkhan Girogosian who governs with the confidence of the National Assembly. We hope that such assurances can be made soon, given the gravity of the situation.

We must assert tentatively that the Government of Seko is pleased with the transparency afforded by the current government in Dawnstar. The Government of Seko will accept the offer made by the Permanent Representative, no doubt on the direction of his government, to monitor the situation in Pontesi. We appreciate Representative Kassouni's assurances that full cooperation will be provided to our team.

Guido Crimi, Istalian Ambassador

The Istalian Government would like express its satisfation for the rapid response from the new Government of Pontesi. Istalia is willing now to consider to remove sanctions we imposed.

A visit in Pontesi for an evaluation of the situation by part of a team of observers of the World Congress would be appreciated as well as a statement by part of the highest authorities of Pontesi.

The ratification of one or more of the treaties presented by the Sekowan Representative would be a further great gesture demonstrating their willingness to move on from a infamous page of Pontesian history.

Thank you
