Mr. Petrov, Representative to the World Congress from the Deltarian Federation

Dear representatives and Security Council. I come here before you today to adress the situation in Kundrati where the Freedom of Expression and Religion are in danger. The Kundrati government has recently enacted a law that bans all forms of religion within Kundrati. This bill doesnt only endanger the freedoms of the Kundrati people but also has the potential of sparking large inner strive within the nation, possibly resulting in violence. As a body that promotes democracy, human rights and transparancy the Deltarian Federation asks all states that stand for those principles to condemn the actions of the Kundrati government. Furthermore we would formally ask the World Congress Security Council to take into consideration possible economic or diplomatic sanctions against the Kundrati State and pressure them into repealling this repressive and dangerous law. Thank you

Antipho Luzi
World Congress Delegate for Kundrati

Fellow delegates of the World Congress, I am here to answer the ridiculous Deltarian accusations. Our nation is currently enacting said reforms in order to better exemplify Kundrati's ideological position. Grand Comrade Zabalbeascoa does not intend to hurt people, we intend to guide them into a better Kundrati. All who do not wish to be guided were given appropriate time to leave. The Kundrati Government is working on reaching an agreement with the violent extremist groups causing harm to our population. We would like to ask the delegation of Deltaria to not meddle with Kundrati affairs. Thank you.

Boris N. Miliukhov, Representative of Trigunia

Trigunia believes the answer of Kundrati is a reasonable explanation that should be accepted by all.

Mr. Petrov, Representative to the World Congress from the Deltarian Federation

Does Trigunia believe there is ever a reasonable explanation for banning all forms of religion in your country? Our people have their faith. A faith that helps them in everyday life to accomplish their goals, strive for good and care for those we love. Religion doesnt stop at the border. And thus its not a mere issue of domestic policy. Deltaria calls for the Security Council to take firm action. We cannot allow a nation to ban its citizens from freely expressing and exercising their religious freedom.

Citizen Boris N. Miliukhov, Representative of Trigunia

I do apologize to both the Representative of Deltaria and the Representative of Kundrati since the opinion I expressed really had nothing to do with their dispute.

The thinking of the Krasnyy Trigunskiy Soyuz coalition is that Metzist philosophy including its atheism occupies exactly the same part of the human psyche that the Representative from Deltaria describes as being the peculiar domain of religion. Accordingly, when we see as we do that many nations ban whole parties that espouse Metzism, socialism, communism and other outgrowths of our philosophy, we do not see why anyone should be surprised or outraged when a government would in like manner ban the thinking of religious groups.

Trigunia has religious freedom so it is our thinking not our conduct of government in this regard that many oppose.

Alvaro Maggini, Istalian Representative

Responding to the Trigunian representative, "maybe" people is so "surprised" and outraged by the decision taken by the Kundrati's Government, because it infringes one of the most foundamental human rights recognized to the human beings, because it is discriminatory, because it is unfair and unkind for peoples. Peoples are outraged because has empaty for the sufference such decisions generate to other peoples, with which maybe they shares the faith.

Such actions are also so unreasonable... irractional even: they want fight something which cannot be fight. The faith is something of so deep and personal! People cannot switch off their faith, and many people needs sometime or often the comfort of their faith, of their ministries of faith, of their places of prayer.

Me and my government is not arguing the atheistic position of the Government of Kundrati, it is not our intention here to judge or to attack this position, however we cannot ignore the extremistic decision to legally persecute peoples in Kundrati for their faith and for their practices of faith, indipendently to which religion they belongs. This is what upset many governments around the world. Not the whole world is insensitive to the sufference of other peoples. If no one ever dares say anything facing such events, "human rights" will always remain just void words written on a paper and my country oppose the idea that this organization recognizes human rights but should do nothing to promote and defend them.

Religious persecutions, racial segregations, ethnic discriminations, slavery... every time we turn our backs in this or that nation on such crimes and such violations of human rights, we decree thousands, millions of people to a life of discrimination, suffering and persecution. Not all peoples and nations are able to sleep peacefully at night knowing that their inertia is complicit in so much suffering for women and men like them.

For this reason, even Istalia cannot but blame the decision taken by the government of Kundrati, and cannot refrain from inviting the authorities of Kasaema to consider less severe and rigorous measures for the happiness and psychophysical and spiritual well-being of so many people in Kundrati, who we are sure most of them have always led a life respectful of the laws, striving to pursue social and economic stability, for them and their children, who would be deprived of a very important part of their life, which we do not believe are so detrimental to the authority and stability of the government, that we cannot deny it enjoys a fair amount of support. It is the right of a government to protect itself by pursuing extremist groups intent on violating the laws and endangering the stability and security of their fellow citizens, we also recognize how often it is also desirable to set limits beyond which the religious sphere cannot go, but to eliminate it at all? Ban it and pursue it? Criminalize a belief as deep and rooted as people's faith? It seems historically very difficult to pursue such aims without ultimately resorting to radical and brutal methods and measures. History is too full of similar degenerations and it is precisely because the world is mindful of so many horrors there are people, nations and governments ready to expose themselves and to speak, before that fateful point of no return is passed, after which many will cry, and for many, too many, they will be tears full of hypocrisy, repeating "that we could not do anything else" while remaining however impassive and saying nothing.

Antipho Luzi
World Congress Delegate for Kundrati

Kundrati is quite frankly disappointed at the remarks made by the Istalian representative.

They condemn our position regarding religion, saying that we infringe on the freedoms of the population, but we do not see them condemning Alduria, Luthori orTalmoria, places that FORCE their citizens to follow a certain religion. We merely ask them to not do something. They are forcing them to follow a belief that they might not share. The Palace of Governature and the entirety of the Kundrati Government will not change its position.

How is it that the aforementioned places that have had these bills for years and they have not been challenged, and as soon as we pass one we are attacked? This just proves how the World Congress is biased and does not want to aid upcoming nations who are becoming stronger. This is not a matter of Istalia and Deltaria condemning our bill, this is them seeing Kundrati as a threat to them and trying to stop our economic growth.

We ask the rest of this World Congress to see their true intentions and to stand with Kundrati.

Senatrix Elissa Sennia
Envoy of the Selucian Senate to the World Congress

The Senate of the Selucian Republic has decided, after due consideration, to grant its official support to the government of Kundrati and to cautiously endorse its position. Although the Selucian Senate emphasizes the fact that the freedom of religion and the freedom of thought are fundamental human rights, the Conscript Fathers also understand that fundamental rights can be restricted in the interest of the common good. As a nation that has for millennia suffered from the domination of a fanatical sect, namely the so-called Aurorian Patriarchal Church, we understand the need to restrict religious practice if it contradicts the goals of good and orderly government and the prosperity and happiness of the citizens. The Senate also condemn the hypocrisy of the Istalo-Deltarian alliance, who act only when the privileges of the Hosian cult are threated but turn a blind eye when the selfsame cult engages in even more egregious human rights violations than anything the Kundrati government has ever done.

That being said, we do question the wisdom of a full and total ban on religious practice. Surely there are many law-abiding and peaceful citizens whose religious freedoms are being unduly curtailed. A more targeted approach may be more suited to the interests of the Kundrati government. But at the end of the day, this is a matter for the people of Kundrati to decide. Whatever their decision, the Senate and People of Selucia will offer their full support.

Boris N. Miliukhov, representative of Trigunia

Trigunia notes that Vascania has introduced an anti religious bigotry resolution in the Security Council. Does that mean Vascania will invite the Ahmadi people it expelled to return or is it not that simple?
