The Jelbeks Are In!

The Great Jelbek Horde is in Belgae. Following seven months of besieging the city, the Jelbanians have, in a well co-ordinated storm, breached Belgae's north eastern defences. The cost was dear, as many as 30,000 Jelbanians lost their lives in the storming of Belgae. Several Zardic defenders have moved north east to attempt to stop the Jelbek influx, to no avail as more than half a million allied Jelbic-Dovani troops continued besieging the city at various points.

The Jelbeks grieve however for their brave 'She'Wolf' Generalissimo Beki Mandkh Vrn fell in the assault.The Beki personally led the XII Armoured Divisionand according to Jelbek sources, she was shot down by a sniper as the XII stormed into Belgae. The Beki's death appears to have galvanised the Jelbeks, who furiously pressed on into the Zardic fire. General Emed Jeirisrmko Frjsrl her depty took over the Horde and demanded that Jelbek troops show no mercy and 'slaughter a million dogs to avenge our Lady.'

Then the slaughter began. By late evening the Jelbek had taken over much of the Old Town section by the river. As bombers 'set fire' from the skies, Horde troops followed, killing any man, woman and child found in the area. Estimates of civilians killed range between 3,000 and an unlikely 40,000. General Frjsrl has vowed to burn down of as much of Belgae as possible if the Federation does not communicate its surrender to the Lord Khagan by the end of the week. Moderates in the Jelbek camp however have pointed out that such actions will only intensify the resolve of Zardic defenders, especially in the untouched south.

Southern Front, April 3811 - A policy of no mercy has been enacted by the Khagan after word came that the great She-Wolf had fallen to a craven Zardic assassin during the magnificent assault on Belgae. The Khagan spoke to his troops in the field camps about the new policy and what it means. "Mercy and laws are for the civilized nations of the world. At first We disagreed with the Indralan and Mikuni-Harusutorian policies of executing prisoners as many prisoners reside in Khaganate camps. But now the Zardic government has shown their true colours by sending an assassin against Our most loyal servant! From now on there shall be no prisoners, there shall be no mercy! Blood for blood!" Rumours say the Greater Horde Command in Wiel is skeptical of the Khagan's decision but are unable or unwilling to challenge it. The only person to have publicly spoken against it is Crown Prince Kezkai, who has recently converted to the Guidao faith, much to the disapproval of his Lord Father. The Crown Prince said that the slaughter of prisoners is a bad move that will only anger the Zards and make their liberation a harder task. A public relations officer later announced the Crown Prince distanced himself from his own statement, calling it a misunderstanding. Principality forces also took a heavy beating in their assault on the north-west of Belgae and the total Vanukean death toll is already set at 100,000. Leaving more experienced field commanders to the final push south, the Khagan has taken his entourage back north to fight the rise of partisans that object to his rightful rule.

The Vanukean troops have begun moving large amounts of POW's after the Khagan's fiery speech. Central government officials assure foreign dignitaries that no cases of genocide will be enacted and that the prisoners are safe but international watchdogs have called for caution and careful observation. Out of all the participating member states and allies the Principality has by far the most Zardic troops in their possession after Vanukean forces wrapped up two large pockets in northern Endiraho. Officials state that the policy of no mercy will be enacted against partisans, which by Vanukean law would be legal and less controversial. Chief Commander-General Bunjamín Wilhelmsrko has been put in command of the First Corps, restoring his old position after the Khagan replaced him during the Siege of Belgae to boost morale. The Chief Commander-General, known by many as a logistics wizard, wasted no time as the Zardic forces started their tactical retreat. On several points in the front the seasoned commander was able to puncture the Zardic mobile line, severely destabilizing the Zardic troop movements. In the end the Zards were still able to reach their last fortified position; the Augusto Line. The Augusto Line cuts the top off the state of Unkaso, making it unable for Jelbek forces to flank and for other forces to advance. After reaching the outer bounds of the Augusto Line the Chief Commander-General ceased the Khaganate offensive, calling it a massive success. Now the Khaganate forces will take the time to breath and crush the partisans before marching onwards!

Dominion of the Augustans, August 3811 - A thousand knives have pierced the heart of the Khaganate as the greatest betrayal in a thousand years has come to be. Early this morning the treacherous dominion of Barmenia rebelled against the chosen rule of the Khagan, claiming his title and unifying by religion and not by the Jelbic peoples. The new Caliphate of Traitors is now waging war against the Khaganate. When our dearest Khagan was informed he remained calm and brave and ordered the reserve armies of the south and north to strike down upon the treacherous Ahmadites. But his decisive leadership in the War against Treachery was short lasted. Much as the esteemed and celebrated She-Wolf the Khagan has also fallen in battle. The Khagan was personally commanding a Scorched Earth Division in anti-partisan duties when a large explosive removed the entire street the Khagan was in from the map. His burdens now fall to his successor, the Crown Prince Kezkai, who was declared the new Khagan in a small and short ceremony in Wiel. There is no time for large ceremonies during war. The Khagan Kezkai is a different man than his father, a convert to the Guidao religion of his wife he opposes war and conflict but nonetheless swore to bring justice to those who murdered his father.

Khagan Kezkai wasted no time in changing the entire war plan, his new policy being one of anti-treachery and assimilation. The armies in Endiraho have been ordered to hold their positions at all cost while suppressing the vile partisans that murdered the Khagan together with the Ahmadites. Reserve armies have been sent to the rebellious dominion of Barmenia to bring the traitors to their knees and keep regional stability intact. All over the Khaganate purges have begun on order of Khagan Kezkai. Nepotism, corruption and false intentions have brought many wrong people in the wrong places. A Colonel in the Horde of the Sands, a detachment of the Barmenian dominion, planned to turn on the Khaganate in Endiraho with his entire division. Their plot was foiled and the entire division was summarily executed by carpet bombing. Serenity and balance will be restored.

WINTER COUNTER OFFENSIVE STABILIZES FRONT

With the double fall of Belgae and Sebasto and the loss of the national capital and thousands of troops the Zards have taken quite a battering. Some of the best troops were lost and the large and economically productive region of Endiraho has largely fallen to Jelbek-Indralan forces. Widespread destruction has been caused by both forces as Zardic troops and the intelligence services destroyed most of the critical infrastructure and military installations in the state. During the evacuation of Fulcher Joint Operations Base most of the facility was torched to prevent it from falling into enemy hands. When the defenses surrounding the city of Belgae began to crumble large plumes of smoke arose from the city as the remaining soldiers and civil servants burned nearly everything they could from important papers to intraoffice notes. Combined with the destruction wrought from the siege, little was left of any military or intelligence value.
However the war situation is changing and it appears to be better for Zardugal. A daring winter counter-offensive stabilized the front just north of the Augusto Line which runs from the northern shores of Kostandian Bay (the geographical feature, not the city) straight east to the Jelbanian border. Further the rapid evacuation of industry from the north has largely been re-established in central Sakvejo and Kalvario providing once again a steady stream of war supplies for the Federation and her troops. The southern city of Paralia Cezareo, Endiraho is now the main and last node of resistance for what remains of Zardic authority in the state. If the Jelbek's take this city then the gateway south into the interior is wide open.

RESISTANCE INCREASES IN OCCUPIED ZARDUGAL

With most of Endiraho now under joint Indralan-Jelbek occupation a large resistance movement is arising in the state. Using deep networks built by the FIA and the FSA and the NDA along with using pre-positioned safe houses and weapons caches. The movement is largely decentralized and uses regional networks of support but it has direction and coordination from the Federal Intelligence Agency and the Special Affairs Unit from the Defense Ministry. Attacks are increasing against Occupation patrols and supply lines and attacks are creeping slowly to the Vanukuean border with the probability that attacks will soon occur in Vanuku proper itself.

CYBER ATTACKS HELP LEVEL PLAYING FIELD

Zardic pre-war development of cyber operational capability has led to an enduring advantage during the conduct in the war. Indeed, it is one of the few bright spots in the war effort so far. Despite Vanuku being able to deflect some of the attacks against its more protected systems and Jelbania rapidly hiring hundreds of foreign cyber security experts the Zards continue to enjoy a clear advantage in this field. Cyber operations continue hammer away at information systems of the enemy with continuing effect. Particular damage is being caused to supply and military medical systems.

AL-KASRAJ, KAFURISTAN -- Abdlmecid Ám'ádsrmko Kamék, so-called ”Caliph,” the head of the breakaway region of Barmenistan is, according to sources reputed to originate from the Kafuri General Intelligence Directorate, an actor named Aviv Begin, a Beiteynuese trained operative. The so-called “Caliph”, son of Yeudish parents, was recruited by the Beiteynuese and Zardic intelligence communities and was trained in espionage and psychological warfare against Jelbek and Ahmadi societies. Abdlmecid Ám'ádsrmko Kamék took intensive military training for a whole year in the hands of Zardic and Beiteynuese military specialists, besides taking courses in theology and the art of speech. Members of the Kafuri General Intelligence Directorate believe the socalled "Caliph" is ordered to get into the military and civilian heart of the countries that are declared a threat to Beiteynu and its ally Zardugal in order to destroy to facilitate thereafter, the takeover by the Beiteynuese and Zardic states on the entire area of the Jelbek Khanate in order to establish Greater Beiteynu and to revive the long dead Augustan Empire.

Jelbek Offensive Stalls

Following three weeks of mass burning, looting and other Jelbek kinds of fun, the Great Jelbek Horde finds itself stuck just south of Belgae. The retreating Zards have begun taking a stand in the far southern parts of Endirao, beginning a daunting winter counter offensive. The Jelbeks on the other hand faces a whole host of problems which have weakened their capacity to continue on south.


Quarantine facilities

First, it is a typhus epidemic which is said to be claiming as many as 80 lives a day. After an orgy of violence directed against Zardic infrastructure in Belgae, the Jelbeks have been left dependent on primitive water sources and this has brought another menace, cholera, which is naming its own blood price daily. The Zardic driven cyber war is disrupting communications and compounding the problem along with the hundreds who are deserting from the Horde weekly as chaos spreads in the camps.

The policy of quarantining the diseased is only so effective as the strict rules are often flouted by other soldiers who scavenge their quarantined comrades' belongings once they die. Zardic partisans are believed to be blocking the supply of typhus and cholera vaccines from the Khanate as they gain greater strength in the Jelbek Occupied Territories in Eastern Endiraho. The Khanate has only managed to make a few thousand vaccines anyway given the relatively high cost of each vaccine, rising administrative disorder and the expectation that the two diseases will 'run out' soon. Jelbek policies of executing 25 Zards for each Horde troop assassinated or wounded by Zardic partisans are proving useless and possibly counter productive. In the past three months an estimated 400 Jelbek troops have been killed in guerrilla attacks by these partisans and the numbers are rising.

ZARDS LAUNCH OFFENSIVE AGAINST WEAKENED JELBANIA

In a late summer campaign, Zardic forces stationed on the Ingomo-Jelbanian border have launched a massive offensive to deal a serious blow to Jelbania in the war effort. Large and coordinated artillery and missile bombardments have hit and caused serious damage on the Jelbanian positions while special forces and paratroopers launched attacks against air defenses allowing greater movement of freedom for the Zardic Air Force. Dogfighting is fierce in the skies over southern Jelbania as Zardic fighters clear away the Jelbanian Air Force (which is inhibited in effectiveness by lack of trained pilots and cyber attacks against command and control systems) while the Vanukuean air forces are hard pressed to make up for their allies short comings and protect their own airspace.
On the ground, thousands of Zards in the 7th Reserve Army and the 9th Army have launched a serious campaign to break their lines. Armored columns have punctured holes in the Jelbanian line while light infantry and mobile forces have moved to exploit the new holes in the line. Despite putting up brave resistance, the Jelbanian forces are being pushed back. Three major Zardic directions of battle can now be discerned from all the fighting. The 7th Army, formerly based around Augusta Justiniana has hit the line and is moving in a northeasterly direction towards Baofluz while the 9th Army which was located northeast of Limenostomo and south of Augusta Justiniana has broken into two components, one moving on land close to Lake Majatra while the remaining part of the army is launching various amphibious assaults and raids on the southern coast of Jelbania and Deltaria.

AIR WAR REACHES DELTARIA

Though Deltaria has largely played a supporting role in the current war, it has no longer escaped the wrath of the vengeful Augustan people. Air strikes have hammered away at coastal defenses on Lake Majatra while more targeted strikes hit industrial centres, military bases and government offices. Deltarian air defenses have largely been caught off guard, thought to be result of cyber attacks from the Federation. Only a few enemy fighters managed to get off the ground and into action against the ZAAF. It is now clear the new Zardic strategy is to hit the weaker allies of Vanuku and force them to expend extra time and effort to stabilize the front against them.

ZARDIC NAVY PUTS TO SEA

In a bold and daring move, the 1st and 3rd Carrier Strike Groups (the 1st having successfully evacuated from Gatineo during the fall) have set sail from their protected enclave inside Kostandian Bay with dozens of ships making sail. Their objective is to harass and cut the supply lines of the Dovani powers backing Vanuku and divert their attention to themselves. With the recent large scale offensive, Zardic forces are now stretched to their limit.

ENDRALON AND ZERGON TO SEND AID TO MAJATRA

An Endralonese Humanitarian Aid Convoy is seen heading to an airport to be airlifted to Zardugal.

In recent response to the Majatran War, Several Peace Activist & Humanitarian Aid Worker have lobbied for the government to take actions. Today Minister of Foreign Affairs, László Márton and Minister of Health and Human & Social Services, Domotor Dezso stated in a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the Government of Endralon and Zergon was to send Humanitarian Aid to Zardugal. In total, Endralon and Zergon is to airlift over 270 trucks with almost 1,800 tons of medical supplies, food, including baby food, sleeping bags and other basic necessities towards Zardugal last Tuesday, but these operations were faulted due to bad weather for the Cargo Planes to fly in. These Operations were recommenced when Chancellor of Endralon and Zergon, János Imre went to the Artanian Union and proposed to help the Zards in the war. Today about 1900 Hours the planes will take off from an unknown location and travel to Cobura where they will cross the border from Cobura and Into Zardugal.
