Barmenia commits continued mobilization.

Eksandr- In spite of the ongoing war in Zardugal, His Grace King Christopher has announced that following a massive budgetary change last year and gradual shift towards a war time economy, the nation was finally ready to defend itself from what many insiders have deemed to be 'external threats' from Pontesi. In that regard, it has been made known that up to 85,000 of the 1,200,500 active duty troops will be sent off. Of those remaining, a full 515,000 have remained to defend the nation while some 400,000 have gone into Vanuku on their mission to aid it from Jelbanian provocation.

Indrala Invades Dah Delta: Aims for Dahriel

Deltaria dispatches Infantry Reinforcements to Kaliburg, Mainland

Kaliburg Ananto
September 12, 3939

Image
Indrala Consolidates positions in North, Invades in the South

In an effort to pincer Ananto, Indrala launched an invasion in the Dah Delta, in Ananto's South. The land, known as wild and swampy land, seems like an odd choice, but reports point to Indrala's attempt to fully pacify the population centers of Ananto. The Celestial Empire therefore moved rapidly though the agricultural settlements in the Dah Delta, famous for the local cannabis strain "Dah Gold", and developed a front just outside of the city of Dahriel. But Dahriel does not promise to be as easy as Dulnerstaad. Renowned 2-Star general Henry Englebert Allen, who is one of the youngest Major generals in the Regular Armed Forces, has been preparing defenses since the start of the war, and the civilians have been removed to safer environs near Xanadu. As a result, Dahriel has been transformed into a fortress, and the 2300 defenders of the city man their stations awaiting the arrival of the Indralans. Observers report that a mere 12 miles separate the two forces, as Indrala moves slowly across the wetlands in the Delta. They are expected to arrive at Dahriel in a week.

Image
The first few members of the Advanced Unit of the 5th Deltarian Field Army land in Sulari

In other news, the first advance units of the Delatarian 5th Field Army have begun arriving at Sulari in Suldanor. Removed far from the battle of Ananto, the advance team will set up LZ's on the mainland, and will eventually reinforce Regular forces in Ananto. The Deltarians are arriving in waves, given their limited transport capacity from across the world. Deltarian deployment to Ananto is being made significantly more difficult due to the near complete cordon that the Indralan Navy have established around the Island, though a small window still exists through which refugees are flooding back to the mainland. There is no telling when Indrala will shut this door too, completely cutting off Ananto from the rest of the world.

Lastly, it has been reported, though these reports have been unsubstantiated, that diplomats have been dispatched to Mikuni, Hulustria to discuss the war. Mikuni is a long time rival of Indrala and Kalistani negotiators may be shift the balance in the Ananto Sea. Mikuni entrance, combined with Deltarian presence may be enough to counter the hegemonic force brought by the Indralan Tortoise Fleet.

Brethren on the Mainland call for Settlement

"War is not the Answer", says Protesters

Vrassa City, Vrassa District
September 18th, 3989

Member of the Society of Brethren Call for Kalistani Government to settle with Indrala

Members of the Vrassa Yearly Meeting of the Society of Brethren called on the Government of Kalistan in Kaliburg to settle with the Empire of Indrala. Olman Diego del Toro, the YM clerk, said, in a brief statement, "This minute asks the members of the Yearly Meeting to write to and meet with their Assembly members, calling on them to find a way to settle with the Indralan Government in a way which promotes peace and understanding, and which ends the unnecessary bloodshed that is threatening our Nation's capital. We recognize that this war is not in the interest of humanity. As long as the war is prosecuted, innocent people continue to die. Innocent people continue to be displaced from their homes and their lives. Our society is decimated. We need peace. Kalistan must stand up as one and call for peace."

The protesters are viewed favorably among most of the citizens on the mainland, and recent polls demonstrated that there is growing sentiment toward settlement with Indrala. Thomas Jones, the Leader of the Peace Caucus in the Assembly, argued, "When we call for settlement with Indrala, we recognize that Indrala still occupies our National Soil, and obviously, we could not possibly offer peace until that situation is reversed. But we also recognize that the events which led to war are, for the most part, something that Kalistan could have avoided. There is a growing movement in Kalistan, and we join the Brethren in saying, the Government of Kalistan needs to make offers to Indrala for negotiations."

The Spokeswoman for the Premier, Karen Svensdattir, responded, "The Brethren have a point but as long as the Indralans menace Kalistani sovereignty, on the high seas OR on our national territory, we fight to defend ourselves. And we have the capacity and the will to continue to fight." The Government's position is supported by polling in Kaliburg, which suggests that support for the war is nearly universal. Similar sentiment is expressed in most places on the mainland, with the exception of those areas which have born the brunt of the refugee crisis. The Brethren themselves are also split, but nearly all of them call for peace. The Ananto Yearly Meeting, however have dubbed themselves "fighting Quakers" and have publicly stated that in the case of self defense, protection of life and family is a higher moral good than standing down before aggression. Over all, 87% of all Kalistanis expressed support for some aspect of the war, and this number is significantly up from the beginning of the conflict.

Dulnerstaad Falls, Commence Pincer Attack

After only a few days of fighting, the Kalistani city of Dulnerstaad has easily fallen to the Indralan ground forces. The Celestial Empire's troops were able to quickly enter the city and defeat the Kalistani regulars. A reported 1,200 Kalistani casualties resulted during the defense of the city, while only 150 superior Indralan patriots fell in battle. Clearly, the victory shows not only the superiority of Indralan troops on the ground, but also their increasing morale, largely due to the past victory at Eavari. These culmination of events have led the Council of Military Affairs of the Celestial Empire to authorize an invasion from the South with the goal suffocate the remaining defenders of Ananto.

Around 5,000 Indralan soldiers have begun their march on Dahriel after their fast deployment from Indrala. The decreased number of troops on the southern front is possibly due to the quick and easy victories in Eavari and Dulnerstaad, leading Indralan military generals to see the need for less troops. Fewer troops, at least in the area around Dahriel, will also be much easier to manage due to the swampy and marshy geography, allowing for a faster march, as opposed to a larger force. The troops have also pledge to burn all drug crops in their wake, creating a further blow to the Kalistani economy. It is expected that, upon reaching Dahriel, the city will fall in the same amount of time at Dulnerstaad and Eavari fell. Once the city falls, Kaliburg will be ever closer to capitulation.

Noose Tightens Around Kaliburg, Government Condemns Deltarian Action

As the Kalistani capital continues its depletion of civilians, ships from the Black Tortoise fleet have begun moving into position, preparing to shell the city's defenses in the wake of an eventual Indralan attack. Civilian ships will still be allowed to exit the city limits, but searches have become more frequent. Indrala cannot take any risks now that they are close to achieving their goals.

The Ministry of State has recalled the Indralan ambassador to Deltaria and expelled the Deltarian ambassador to Indrala in protest of Deltarian policies towards Indralans in Deltaria. Furthermore, the Ministry shall act as they did with the Kalistani embassy: Deltaria will have 48 hours to leave the country, then their embassy will be searched, regardless if anyone remains.

Chief Counselor Cai states:

What Deltaria has done in the recent months makes no sense. They do what they can to defend Kalistan and defy the conventions of the International Monarchist League. They forget how Indrala has always been a friend and ally to Deltaria, helping them win their wars of the past. Clearly, they were never truly friends of the Celestial Empire and are exhibiting their jealousy.

Heaven favors our country. We will be victorious against all who stand in our way, especially through the Zoo Alliance, which is invoked. Vanuku will be able to easily crush Deltaria. That country is in desperate need of civilizing.

Anantonese Sea Fleet told to ready for possible intervention.
Anantonese Sea Fleet told to ready for possible intervention into Kalistani-Indralan War.
Image
Vessels of the Anantonese Sea Fleet lower anchor, as they are ordered to prepare to possibly "relocate".

As Indrala is preparing for a massive pincer movement to capture the Kalistani Capital of Kaliburg after they captured the sea bound city of Dulnerstaad,Trigunian Minister-President Filipp Klepakhov ordered the Anantonese Sea Fleet to Full Combat Readiness. The Fleet was ordered around 5 am to launch a second drill which will include all thirty-one (31) vessels, one thousand (1,000) troops and twenty-eight (28) aircraft. "Dominance to the Indralans can only be achieved by armed conflict, as a show of their force in the region, the Zoo Alliance has showed to the world that it will go to all lengths to ensure its dominance and position at the head of the geo-political food chain is kept Intact." Minister-President Klepakhov said to reporters at his office. "Since the Indralans want to use fire to achieve their dominance, we will combat this, fire will be met with fire, the bear will tango with the dragon." He added. It is believed that there are a handful of competing forces in the Eastern Hemisphere, that being the the Black Tortoise Fleet of the Indralan Navy, the Anantonese Sea Fleet of the Trigunian Navy and the Mikuni-Hulstrian Navy. It is also believed that the only possible competition of the Black Tortoise Fleet is the Anantonese Sea Fleet seeing that the fleet was built to combat Indrala's power plays in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Reports from the Collegium of War stated that the Anantonese Sea Fleet will intervene in the conflict once under specific request from the Kalistani Government. It is expected that if Kaliburg falls, the domino effect will begin as the dragon attempts to cut off the head of the Floobari and watch it beat on the floor. Although the Floobari is holding up against overwhelming forces, it cannot hold for long even with Delterian Forces intervening. Trigunian Military Attaches are currently discussing the possible lock down the Aldegarian Gulf once more to guard the Central Seleyan nation, and Trigunia's only ally in the region from "scaly hands". Officials from the Collegium of Foreign Affairs has already recalled all diplomatic staff and citizens from Indrala, and have left the gates to Trigunia's Embassy and Consulates literally open for the Indralan Police to search. The Collegium of Foreign Affairs has stated that it will not force Indrala to close its Embassies and Consulates in Trigunia but has stated that the Indralans inside these diplomatic missions will have to expect a heavy presence from the State Security Directorate and Imperial Police as they will be monitoring their every move and have been given ordered to send Indralan spies to the after life early.

Kalistan Demures at Internationalization of Conflict

Regulars hold at Dahriel: Indrala bogged down at outskirts of the City

Defense Minister Grognard calls for limiting the violence in Kalistani Waters

As the War drags on, nations around the globe are rushing to Kalistan's Aid. But the Defense Minister issued remarks on the gradual internationalization of the conflict which betray both Kalistani Confidence as well as their somewhat pollyannaish commitment to the cause of Peace. Minister Grognard said, at a news Conference, following a review of Kaliburg defenses:
"Look- We are confident that Kaliburg will not fall. We have promising reports from the Dah Delta, and we are confident that our positions in the mountains are secure enough to prevent a full scale attack. The approaches into Kaliburg itself are treacherous enough that the Enemy has not yet tried them, and so we are not in much danger from the sea. And yet- first Deltaria and now Trigunia have offered massive naval and land support commitments to Kalistan. Those units would have certainly been helpful before the Indralans landed, but I am afraid that now, they will serve only to spread the violence that Ananto is suffering, out across several nations. We have asked the Deltarians to deploy to the mainland, to augment regulars and Partisans there, but this should serve as a deterrant to Indrala. If Trigunia wishes to deploy a massive fleet to Kalistani Waters, we are not really in any position to oppose their arrival, but we would hope that they will not put themselves in harms way for a conflict that they don't have an active stake in. We also still officially support the demilitarization of the Anantanese Ocean- such deployment will violate our Policy there. This said, Trigunia has been a friend to Kalistan, and we hope they will use their fleet to deter Indralan invasion of the mainland. If we may limit the violence to Ananto, we will do more for the people of Kalistan than we would do if we allowed Indrala to take positions on the mainland."

The Defense Minister's Statement seems at odds with the position taken by the foreign ministry, who, if some reports are to be believed, has recently sent representatives to Mikuni to discuss possible joint action.

Image
Cpl. Lance Jones-Congalka, along with half of his "firesquad", takes a break from patrol downtown Dahriel to pose for this picture

The Defense Minister's comments about good news from Dahriel were substantiated by embedded reporters. Though Dahriel has suffered a tremendous shelling by Indralan Artillery, the city's defense have held. Kalistani regulars have fought off attempts by Indralan forces to cut the city off from the overland supply routes to Xanadu, and have held strategic positions outside the city, which has kept the burg free of Invaders. What was supposed to be a quick capitulation has turned into a series of small but decisive victories for Kalistani Regulars. The Kalistani Propaganda bureau has wasted no time playing up the Defense of Dahriel. General Henry E. Allen, the commander in charge of the City's defenses has been called "A National Hero" for his brave defense of the city. Dahriel may fall yet, but for now, as the rainy season kicks into high gear for windward Ananto, it appears that the Indralans won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Their zone of control in this area is the Marshy lowlands which are prone to severe, unpredictable and deadly floods, and Dahriel is the first higher and dryer land in the region. Unless Indrala finds a way to move out of the swamp, their pincer offensive might be doomed.

Image
Partisan positions, known as "Mountain Fortresses" dot the ridgeline between Mt. Su and Mt. Shmee

Finally, reporters at this Newspaper have heard unsubstantiated reports that Indralan Forces, which have spent much of the last year consolidating their strength and resupplying are beginning to move out of the city to the south into the Blue Grass Plain. They move freely throughout the Plain already, but signs point to an imminent move into the mountains between Mt. Su and Mt. Shmee. While Kalistani Partisans control most of this territory, Indralan forces appear to be determined. If there are any moves into the Mountains, we will carry the report.

Naval Battle off Cildanian Coast
Cildanian navy crushed

Image

Although a state of open war has existed between Trigunia and Cildania for quite some time, the two nations have largely ignored each other due to more pressing concerns. This however changed with the recent naval battle fought off the coast of the Cildanian city of Asad, in the strait between Cildania and Badara. A large Trigunian fleet, comprising 7 light cruisers, 14 destroyers, and 20 missile boats, no doubt headed south to reinforce Trigunia's new Deltarian ally, was spotted by the Cildanian navy, which attempted to intercept the Trigunians. A much smaller Cildanian fleet, composed of seven frigates and six missile boats, was sent in to engage the Trigunian navy as soon as it entered Cildanian territorial waters. Counting on its technologically advanced, mostly formed of Vanukean-produced equipment, the navy, under the command of Rear Admiral Sifaks Kilani, hoped to use its technological advantage to score a victory against the much larger Trigunian fleet.

This however did not come to pass. Although the Cildanian navy fired a total of 91 missiles in 25 salvos, many did not hit their targets, and those that did caused minimal damage. Not long after the first salvo, the Trigunian fleet retaliated. The Cildanians found themselves surrounded by the more numerous Trigunian vessels, and soon enough, the Cildanian fleet was losing. Although Cildanians had air superiority, they could not fully use it; the airfields in neighboring Badara had been overrun by anti-Cildanian rebels, while weather in Cildania prevented most aircraft from taking off the Mort Iskendra airfield. After around 12 hours of fighting, the entire Cildanian fleet was annihilated; three frigates, Saint Sebastian, Saint Alexandra, and Gildas Kilian were sunk, while the other four mysteriously vanished without a trace. Trigunia only suffered minimal losses - only 1 destroyer and 2 light cruisers were sunk, and the rest suffered light damage.

Overall, the Naval Battle of Asad is one of the greatest defeats in Cildanian naval history, and it opens up the Sea of Majatra to the Trigunian alliance. And indeed, not long after the battle, the anti-Cildanian insurgents in Badara proceeded to proclaim their own independent Emirate, claiming independence from under Cildanian military occupation.

Trigunia powering to Delteria.
Trigunia bushes aside Cildanian Navy; Vows to Liberate Al'Badara from Cildanian Hands after Conflict.
Image
Minister-President Filipp Klepakhov during a national security meeting earlier today.

In what appeared to have had flash so quickly infront of their eyes the Cildanian Navy was simply bushed aside. After the bulk of the Cildanian Navy was devastated after it attempted to confront the Trigunian Combined Fleets which was making its way towards Delteria. Apparently the fleet was sent to blockade the Trigunian Fleet front entering the Sea of Majatra. It seems that apparently the Cildanians were not expecting to be devastated in their own waters. The Cildanian Fleet lost three vessels, the Saint Sebastian, the Saint Alexandra, and the Gildas Kilian, but the Trigunians did not escape the crawls of destruction for they lost the destroyer TKVM-Lesnov and two cruisers, the Yegorovich and the Impor. But despite the set back from the Cildanians the Trigunian Fleet is powering through the Sea of Majatra and still on course to Delteria. But what many fear is Cildania's friend and closest ally, who coincidentally is Trigunia's sworn enemy, the Principality of Vanuku. With the Trigunian Green Sea and Mad Dog Ocean Fleets steaming towards Delteria, it is likely that the feared Vanukean First Fleet will hunt down the Trigunian Fleet and attempt to avenge its ally, Cildania. Back at home, Trigunians rushed to the streets and alleyways in celebration of Trigunia's victory in crushing Cildania's naval arm. For now the Trigunians celebrate but many are vigilant of the silent and deadly enemy which they may face in unfriendly waters, that is the Vanukean First Fleet.

At a National Security Conference today, Minister-President Filipp Klepakhov vowed in a shocking statement that once his commitments in Delteria have been completed he will liberate Al'Badara from Cildanian Hands. Since it was taken over by Cildania some years ago, Trigunia has secretly gathered plans for full-scale invasion of Al'Badara to free the Majatran nation from Cildania's imperialistic hands. Klepakhov made it clear to the Cildanians that once his work in Delteria is complete, Cildanians within Al'Badara will receive the full brunt of Trigunia's Military might. With rebels retaking lost land from the Cildanians in Al'Badara, Klepakhov stated that soon he plans to reinforce the rebels with Trigunian support, he has even gone as far as threatening a full-scale invasion of the Cildanian homeland if the Cildanians do not leave Al'Badara by 4000. It is said that if it is to happen, that Trigunia goings in to liberate Al'Badara, the deadly Spetskomandas will go after the heads of the snake, the Regent of Cildania, Amazigh Baqar and the Governor Himilkut Udmawan. The clock starts as Trigunia watches the movements of Cildania's politics, waiting for the right time to strike at the Raven with all her might.

Struggle for Dahriel

After weeks of fighting, the Kalistani city of Dahriel has proved to be a formidable enemy. The small Indralan force sent to take the city has struggled in their attack, largely due to Kalistani nationalist fervor, giving the Kalistani soldiers the morale to fight, and the geography of Dahriel's surroundings. It can take up to a day to move artillery to strategic places, making them less effective in the short run. Already, Indrala has lost over 500 men to casualties of some sort, many of them due to the disease. If this continues without respite, a victory over Dahriel will look more like a loss than a victory.

Northern Expeditionary Forces Enters Angry Mountains, Ambushed from All Sides

Finally securing the Bluegrass Valley, the Northern Indralan Expeditionary Force has entered the Angry Mountains on their way to Kaliburg. Despite the siege of Dahriel looking more like a person slowly bleeding out, Indralan military officials deem it worthy to continue with the pincer attack, expecting Dahriel to fall regardless of what happens. The goal now is to make it through the Angry Mountains and meet up with the Dulnerstaad forces to take Kaliburg head on. Unfortunately, the mountains of Kalistan are far more dangerous than they appear.

Every few miles or so, the expeditionary force is ambushed by Kalistani guerillas, no doubt barbarian mount men high on drugs believing Indralans to be fairy invaders, who manage to successful pick off two or three soldiers before the Indralans can respond. The mountain paths make it extremely difficult for the force to do much of anything in its defense. It must reach a valley before it can adequately defend itself.

In even worse news, two planes from the Black Tortoise Fleet have disappeared over the Angry Mountains. They were on a reconnaissance mission in addition to helping secure the Northern Expeditionary Force's path to Kaliburg. It is believed the planes have been shot down by the drugged up guerilla fighters, most likely believing the planes to be fire breathing dragons sent to kill their sheep. Certainly, the Ananto Invasion has proved a bit costlier than imagined.

Kaliburg Begins to Burn

Earlier this morning, Indralan ships have begun to shell the Kalistani capital, Kaliburg. Targets have explicitly been government buildings and any building that may serve a military purpose, but there will always be civilian casualties. Indrala has pledged to care for the victims once they take the city, setting up hospitals and camps to provide relief. Hopefully, the taking and destruction of the city will get the Kalistani government to the negotiating table to end piracy once and for all.
