Chief of Defence, General Sven Christensen held a press conference at the Department of Defence where he announced the Joint
Forces Command's largest offensive since the beginning of the conflict. He explained: "Recognising that a simple frontal assault
against the defensive line as established by the Junta forces would be a serious military miscalculation, the Joint Forces
Command came to a decision that a major airborne offensive would have to be launched to impose additional pressure on the Yong-Ho
line." He stated that having convened a meeting with Chief of the Army, General Arnfinn Sommerfeldt, who is responsible for
airborne operations alongside his primary objective of organising the major ground offensive along with General Christensen,
training for an airborne offensive begun months prior on the island of Arenheim. In recognising that 2 airborne divisions are
already in use in Strike Forces operations, 2 additional division (4th and 5th Airborne Division) have been rotated into the
general order of battle. According to General Sommerfeldt, many preparations were made ahead of the initial assault which took
place in the early hours of this morning. Sommerfeldt offered a detailed layout of the airborne assault, coined Operation Dragon
Fly:

A coup-de-main force of the 2nd Battalion (5th Airborne Division) was the first to plan behind the Yong-Ho defensive line at the
town of Sassagnoa. Once on the ground, the troops emerged and assaulted the Junta positions. At a bridge to the eastern edge of
the town, troops assaulted Junta trench positions, attacked sentries, and threw grenades into a concrete bunker believed to hold
the triggering equipment for the bridge demolition charges. At the Abagbiji River bridge, a machine-gun nest was suppressed with
mortar fire but no other defenders were found, and the two platoons captured the bridge before radioing to other forces and
informing them of their success. Both bridges had been secured within fifteen minutes, at the cost of only a small number of
casualties. It was also discovered that the bridges had not been rigged with explosives as believed from intelligence sources.
The coup-de-main force had been followed closely by the Jaegers of the 2nd Parachute Battalion, tasked with marking out the
drop-zones and landing-zones to be used by the rest of the division. However, due to a combination of heavy cloud cover, only one
pathfinder team were dropped correctly. The aircraft carrying the remainder had to make between two and three runs over their
respective drop-zones before their teams jumped. Jaegers assigned to the northern portion of the town were dropped wide and did
not manage to get to the drop-zone for thirty minutes. One of the teams assigned to the southern side accidentally dropped onto
the western side without realising their error and set up radio beacons and markers that caused a number of airborne troops to
drop in the wrong area, hence sending the landings into slight confusion. A pathfinder team belonging to 3rd Battalion, assigned
to mark out the drop-zone area for the unit tasked with destroying an artillery battery inside of the town, was all but wiped out
when a surface to air missile battery unknown to the airborne forces shred through the aeroplane they were set to drop from.

According to General Sommerfeldt, the town of Sassagnoa was chosen due to the fact that the town was easily defendable and it
provided flat land for a makeshift runway to be constructed. Sommerfeldt noted that the aim was for the 20,000 airborne force to
launch hit-and-run raids against the eastern flank of the Yong-Ho line, using the town as a base of operations. The paratroopers
would be reinforced through airdrops by the Royal Kazulian Air Force. However, he noted that there is an additional complication.
In recognising that an airborne unit was brought down by an unknown SAM, General Sommerfeldt stated that it possesses a potential
risk to the ability for the airborne forces to remain supplied. Although the HSK and MSK accompanied the 20,000 airborne force,
Sommerfeldt noted that they too would have to be resupplied. Director of the Defence Intelligence and Security Organisation, Rear
Admiral Roland Malmgren spoke to his agency's response to the presence of unknown surface to air batteries. He said: "The Defence
Intelligence and Security Organisation has been actively monitoring the situations in North Dovani as they unfold. It is our
responsibility to analyse intelligence as it comes from the ground and work alongside the Joint Forces Command to adjust battle
plans and military operations as the intelligence dictates. We have positioned our Geospatial intelligence satellites above North
Dovani to collect image samples for analysis. From the said analysis, we have gathered that Junta forces have taken up advanced
mobile anti-air systems and are now positioning them to combat our complete air superiority. In recognising the importance of
airlift to the forces in Sassagnoa, we are bringing more electronic warfare aircraft online; concurrently, there is only one
however in recognising the clear and present threat posed by mobile anti-air systems, it is our intention to bring that number
from 1 to 6." Rear Admiral Malmgren stated that it was his intentions to use special operations teams to find the mobile anti-air
systems. General Asmus Jacobsen, Chief of the Air Force stated that having discussed the sentiment with the Joint Forces Command,
the air-force intends on reducing sorties by the HF-16s and Gripens, which do not possess stealth technology; with ZHF-35K
sorties set to increase tenfold.

On the western frontline, leading off from Phase 1 and Phase 2; The first assault against the established Yong-Ho Line was made.
The central thrust by the combined strength of the I and IV Corps, under the command of Major General Gustav Espeseth, commenced
three hours after sunset following artillery and close air support barrages resulting in negligible damage. After the barrage,
the 2nd Infantry Division was ordered to cross a river which separated the two forces, which began at 19:00. Two battalions of
the 2nd Infantry Division successfully crossed the river, but Junta return fire forced some of the forces to withdraw from their
advance across the river, and their foothold was abandoned. According to reports from the front, the defensive positions on the
central thrust had been erected on a hill, meaning that once troops had crossed the river they would have to climb over
artificial walls made of soil. On the next day, both regiments were ordered to perform another attack at 16:00. Although this
assault met with more success, the Kazulian foothold was unsustainable, as withering fire from entrenched tanks and anti-tank
guns prevented the movement of armoured vehicles across the river and also prevented bridges from being constructed by engineers.
It is important to note that Kazulian Forces possess lightly armoured vehicles such as mobile tank destroyers and infantry
fighting vehicles like the CV90 which can be easily knocked out by entrenched tanks and anti-tank guns. Without the bridges,
armour could not assist in the attack, and the infantry was left to fight on their own, resulting in devastating casualties.
After more than 20 hours of fruitless combat, both were ordered to withdraw. According to Major General Espeseth, it is very
clear that he will have to rethink his strategy before moving again. There are reports of Leopard 2a6KZ tanks being loaded onto
the trains and cargo aircraft with the intention of flying them into North Dovani. Espeseth stated that once "his order" had
arrived, he intends on launching a fresh offensive.

KEOBI AND HUHOA LAUNCH PEACETALKS, JUNTA FIGHTS KAZULIA

Image
Huhoa and Keobi leaders during the first peace conference of the war

Enimoto-si: Earlier this month the Huhoa forces in the north of the country finally captured the coastal city Bahrar. After a 2 year long siege and a estimated 20.000 deaths the city's harbour, which was the only part of the city still under Keobi control, was finally captured by Huhoa forces. As a show of good will the Huhoa leadership ordered their troops to let the remaining Keobi fighters and their families leave the city unharmed. This show of good will came about as the conflict between Keobi and Huhoa alone has caused a estimated 400.000 deaths, with the entire North Dovani conflict causing 2 million deaths, 1 million wounded and another million missing. Both Keobi and Huhoa leaders believe it is time to come to the table if any meaningfull peace has to be achieved in the future. By making peace now, the two sides could potentially establish a final united front to attack the Junta from behind as Kazulian forces continue their push. The talks will however not be a quick and easy affair as the Huhoa are likely to push through their dominance due to most rebel territory being in their hands and their army being the strongest of the two while the Keobi will reject these claims. A peace conference is currently ongoing and it is expected that peace talks will last at the very least a year. In the meantime a ceasefire has been called between the two sides.

While the rebels are focussed on eachother the Junta is focussed on Kazulia. With its defensive line holding for now the Junta has to decide how to deal with the incursion of airborne forces deep within its territory. While a hit and run tactic was proposed by Yong-Ho's staff, using its new mobile AA systems to strike Kazulian aircraft and using its most veteran troops to launch small attacks against Kazulian forces, Yong-Ho decided that he had to contain the paratroopers. To achieve this he ordered the Junta's reserve forces to encircle the town of Sassagnoa and keep it under constant fire. At night Junta forces have reportedly been using their artillery guns to bombard Kazulian defensive positions around the town while during the day small units attack Kazulian lines with excessive force before pulling back when they near the Kazulian lines. Yong-Ho hopes to drain the energy of Kazulian forces in the town and make them prone to exhaustion. At the main Yong-Ho line the defenses have been holding against Kazulian assaults but Yong-Ho has stated multiple times his fears of a full mechanized assault on the line, something the rather improvised defenses of the line wouldnt be able to withstand. To partially try to limit the danger this potentially poses Yong-Ho has ordered the construction of additional tank traps and strengthened the anti tank positions. This will likly have a limited effect however. Yong-Ho has also ordered his forces to dig in further and hold the line.

The war in North Dovani thus seems to enter a new phase.

Offering a recap of the events thus far, Chief of Defence General Sven Christensen spoke on the Kazulian Armed Forces' progress
in North Dovani. He reminded the population that under cover of the initial artillery barrage and close air support bombings, A
Kazulian assault force of 32,000 infantry began crossing the river which divided Kazulian forces from the Yong-Ho Line in twelve
waves at five separate crossing areas, between the early hours of the morning. Having split Junta forces between the Western and
Eastern front, the Joint Forces Command made it increasingly difficult for the Junta regime to reinforce the Yong-Ho line with
sufficient troops, equipment and engineers to strengthen its defences. Meanwhile, engineers crossed over to breach the natural
wall which stood as a hindrance to the movement of heavy armour (main battle tanks and infantry fighting vehicles) across the
river. Despite fierce resistance, the Kazulian reserve brigade garrisoning the forts along the defensive line, particularly in
the central portions was overwhelmed. According to General Christensen, within six hours, major strongpoints had been captured as
Kazulian forces advanced several kilometres into the defensive line before being ordered to halt. General Christensen stated that
following the command to halt the advance, General Arnfinn Sommerfeldt who has also taken command of forces along the western
frontline alongside Christensen and Major General Gustav Espeseth of the Royal Kazulian Marines convened a meeting to discuss the
plan moving forward recognising that the Kazulian Armed Forces would deliver a killer blow to the Yong-Ho line. Since the halt,
Kazulian Forces remain stagnant as they either hold a defensive position, repelling countless Junta counteracts or dig in for a
potential prolonged campaign.

Christensen stated that he realised that Kazulian Forces could destroy Junta forces much more easily when they were out in the
open and on the offensive than if they were on the defensive. "The present situation is to be regarded as one of opportunity for
us and not of disaster." Espeseth, realizing what Christensen implied, responded, "This conflict has shown me the weaknesses of
the Kazulian war machine, but it also has shown me its strengths, I say we continue the offensive with a renewed passion"
Christensen, after saying he agreed, asked Sommerfeldt how long it would take to turn his reserve armour divisions from the rear,
located in the west of the central thrust, north to counterattack. To the disbelief of the other generals present, It had been
stated that Sommerfeldt replied that he could attack with two divisions within 48 hours. According to statements from the Joint
Forces Command, before General Sommerfeldt had left to discuss a new plan with Christensen and Espeseth, he had ordered his staff
to prepare three contingency plans for a northern turn in at least division strength. Christensen stated that in recognising the
plan made by Sommerfeldt, an armoured and mechanised infantry division were rotated to Major General Espeseth's Marine Divisions
to assist them in their thrust to the North. In explaining the plan to the public, Christensen stated that it was his intention
to orchestrate a coordinated thrust against the Northern, Central and Southern portions of the line, thus pushing the Junta
Forces back into the arms of the Airborne units in Sassagnoa, who are reportedly being relieved by a rapid moving Home Guard
relief force of 20,000 troops and associated equipment. Concurrently, the offensive against the defensive line had claimed around
2,000 Kazulian lives with thousands more wounded.

In an update on the Airborne forces encircled in Sassagnoa, General Sommerfeldt updated the public. According to reports, the
Royal Kazulian Air Force and Royal Kazulian Artillery Corps maintain their pressure on enemy positions. According to Sommerfeldt,
an armoured column with a mechanised infantry unit in tow blitzed through the open landscape of eastern North Dovani, driving
towards Sassagnoa. Thick woods concealed blockhouses defending the road beyond Sassagnoa. The Home Guard's Leopard 2a4KZ tanks
had the job of ploughing through those defences without stopping. The units that followed would mop up behind them. After the
first Kazulian tanks continued north through the open landscape, the Junta forces detonated mines behind them, knocking out
numerous armoured personnel carriers with troops inside. "The Junta forces had these two little towns of Konkidi and Waya on the
secondary path our troops were using to get to Sassagnoa. Beyond these towns, the road ran up a ridge through heavy woods.
Intelligence had shown us that there was a considerable Junta force there." Sommerfeldt explained. "Our forces moves swiftly and
with haste with little to no intention of halting the advance until they had entered the town of Sassagnoa. According to
Sommerfeldt stated that at around 1600 hours, the Kazulian Home Guard force smashed through the encirclement and entered the
town, proceeding to use Strike Force to break up the encirclement as armoured and infantry units moved in to relieve the airborne
forces. Whilst the Home Guard relief force pressed forward, the main force of 30,000 who remained behind to mop up forces secured
a majority of the eastern portions of North Dovani, driving Junta forces west towards Sassagnoa and the defensive line.

RANG YONG-HO: "WE ARE OPEN TO NEGOTIATION"

Image
General Yong-Ho in his presidential palace

Enimoto-Si: General Rang Yong-Ho, leader of the Kyo military Junta that has ruled portions of North Dovani for around a decade now has stated that his regime is "open to negotiations" and that "the continued military struggle is unsubstainable". Yong-Ho stated that his government is willing to "open a constructive dialogue with Kazulian authorities over the end of hostilities". Yong-Ho likely changed his tone now that the important Yong-Ho line is about to break. The Yong-Ho line is the only strong defensive line the regime has left and is likely to fall within the next few months. Faced with the loss of his only remaining strong position in the country the Junta leader is now likely trying to safe his Kyo minority from total expulsion and attempts to settle a peace deal. Sources within his inner circle even seem to suggest that Yong-Ho is prepared to hand himself over, as long as the Kyo people will keep their lands.

It remains to be seen whether or not the Kazulians will agree to peace.
