Veritable Records of the Yu Dynasty (玉實錄; Yù Shílù)

[Wu Han]

The Yù Shìlù (Indralan: 玉實錄; literally "The Veritable Records of the Yu") contains the imperial annals of the Yu emperors of Indrala.

During the reign of an emperor, professional historiographers maintained extensive records on national affairs and the activities of the state. They collected documents and wrote daily accounts that included state affairs as well as diplomatic affairs, the economy, religion, the arts, and daily life, among other things. Some excerpts of the Yù Shìlù are declassified by the government of Indrala after the death of an Emperor.

Year 37, Month 10, Day 3 (3 October 4469) DECLASSIFIED

"The Crown Prince Yunzhe offers a toast to the Jianxiao Emperor's longevity"

On this day, the Crown Prince went to the Emperor's primary residence and offered a toast to his longevity. Prince Yunkai, Prince Huachen, Prince Jianhao and Princess Yimei attended the banquet, among other members of the Imperial Retinue.

The Crown Prince approached the table on his knees to offer a toast to the Emperor's longevity. The Crown Prince then said, "Secure and free from famine, the people are moved by the Son of Heaven's profound grace, and the mountains echo with prayers for the Son of Heaven's long reign." The Emperor accepted the toast and responded lightheartedly, "for the stability of succession, the Crown Prince should have more sons." Members of the Imperial Clan laughed.

The Crown Prince then commanded dancers to perform, and for food to be served. The guests were highly exuberant, and the banquet finished when night fell.

Year 2, Month 5, Day 28 (28 May 4434) DECLASSIFIED

"The Jianxiao Emperor is informed of military strikes against Southern Kimlien"

Wang Shimin, a General of the Imperial Armed Forces, came from the South Indrala Sea to report a victory. Those officials of higher rank went to the Imperial Palace to congratulate the Jianxiao Emperor. The Son of Heaven was pleased to receive the report, and awarded the General new robes.

The Son of Heaven sent Training Officer Choe Gi to the Ministry of Defence to deliver an imperial instruction to Defence Minister.

The instruction read,

"Spring brings life and autumn kills it. This is the Way of Heaven. The Emperor embodies the Way of Heaven and lovingly nurtures all people. But when treacherous despots and deceitful criminals disobey the celestial order and disrupt human principles, they should unavoidably be subdued and executed. Even in doing this, however, prudence and sympathy should never be withheld. From antiquity, the intent of raising troops to subdue others lies in punishing crime, not in killing many. From the historical books and classics, this can be clearly seen. You shall appreciate my deepest thoughts and strive to encourage surrender, bringing all to our side."
