Rosalia Lorena da Silva-Miyata, Provisional Secretary of Progressive International
I recognize the motion to close the nominations and with no objections, I deem it passed.

I kindly request our candidates now to address the floor of the General Assembly about their current plans to promote democracy, human rights, sustainable development, and progressivism across Terra. It would be helpful as well for them to describe their vision of how Progressive International could carve out a space and become a significant forum in the geopolitical arena.

Margaret Bauer, DSDP nominee for Member of the P.I. Executive Committee:

Thank you President da Silva-Miyata. In my vision, this organization shouldn't be just another collective of parties agreeing on most issues that isn't able to advance its policy outside the members. No, in my vision the P.I. should yes be a collective of parties, having in common support for left-of-center policies, but is should be able to have a strong voice outside of our parties and outside of our countries to advance Progressive ideals.
Starting doing so with support for democracy: in no istance should our organization allow anti-democratic ideals to spread in our represented nations, and as well as foreign nations. For this, I am proposing to designate one of the members of the future ExecCom as the Foreign Policy Spokesperson, which has authority, assuming the Assembly agrees with them, to advocate internationally for democracy support, and human rights respect.

The P.I., domestically, should focus on creating legislation to enhance sustainable development, with green energy policies, strict environmental regulations and "green economy" packages. To me, Progressivism represents the future, a future where everyone is equal to one another, where one is possible to pursue their dreams in the workplace, where in that workplace, you have extensive protections, and ultimately a future where the environment isn't at risk. We can do that domestically, but we should advocate for these things internationally, thanks to the proposed Foreign Policy delegate.

The P.I. should, in that sense, draft a small set of policies which are at our core, the lifeblood of the organization, and they shall be drafted unanimously by our Assembly. Once approved, our parties should abide by them, and guide our future foreign policy.

I wish to conclude by making a pledge: if elected, me and my colleagues should be not above the Assembly, but on the same level: parties in this organization shouldn't seek power, but be guided by a genuine will to advance our policies. For that, I am also in favor of proposing a two terms limit for each ExecCom member.

Harvey Sunny, SLP Nominee for Member of the P.I. Executive Committee:

Thank you, President da Silva-Miyata. I agree with Margaret Baurer that this organization should be a strong voice in the international area advancing democratic values and supporting progressive policies, and also it should prevent the spread of anti-democratic ideals in both represented and foreign nations, while having a common platform of left-of-center policies, and I also agree with Baurer that progressivism represents a new future where everyone is equal, there are protections in the workplace, and there is a focus on environmental protection. Yes, the P.I. should focus on creating legislation to enhance sustainable development and green economy packages. However, we should also focus on resolving the problem that some of the represented nations here now suffer a 'layered' society. The P.I. should focus on the values of republicanism and should support a society which there are no noble/commoner divisons and each citizen is entitled to equal rights and protections. While this does not necessarily require a republican form of government, having such a form of government is more substantive than abolisihing the nobility but leaving the monarchy staying there. A president better represents the people and this was seen in the period of the Luthorian Republic of 5174... before the monarchist parties abolished it and replaced with a delusional 'empire' and renamed every instution as 'Imperial ...' in 5177.

Rosalia Lorena da Silva-Miyata, Provisional Secretary of Progressive International
With the time passed for the candidates to present their vision for the Progressive International, it is only essential for our democratic processes to move on.

I am now opening the election for the First Executive Committee of the Progressive International. Each party delegation would be given one ballot, which would be counted according to single transferable vote. If a ballot fails to follow the standards set forth by the General Assembly Secretariat, the vote would be declared invalid and forfeited. May this election be successful.
