I agree with Pale on this one, I think that if we had a small cadre of players who dedicated themselves to the upkeep of it while others participated, it would work. It worked somewhat okay with the Artanian Union.

Agreed. It could be made to work, although as you say, it would probably need a small team of committed people to make sure it keeps ticking over.

In the absence of a United Nations-style organisation, though...I've always thought there should be more of a role for non-governmental organisations in commenting on/addressing international affairs. Religious organisations with followers all over Terra, like the Selucian Patriarchal Church, could easily have a go at this. I'd also like to see some kind of Terra peace organisation, or a Terra-wide organisation campaigning for nuclear disarmament.

I think we need to work on a major organization such as a UN-based organization first before we move onto others, I think that is why the absence of International RP is such a problem because the people who create international RP do not have a forum to argue and debate about things.

However we need to be wary of making it so specialized that no one else is interested in it. Let us throw open the windows of PT to let in the fresh air of new players!

I would have no problem volunteering my services to participate on any org as well as take care of it...so count me in.

I guess the first step would be the creation of the organization and signatory members. I think the best thing to do would be something like the Council of Terran States (CTS) and start off as a form for cooperation and international crisis solving, from there we can expand to maybe a security council or other organizations such as IMF/WB organization.

I don't think we should immediately proceed with dramatic measures. Go gradually. Start off with a simple forum for world leaders to engage in a little mutual backslapping or backstabbing (as the situation demands), then start building on it with such things as international financial, trade, military structures. Of course, if it all fizzles at the first step, needless to say, there's no point in proceeding with the rest.

I am all in for United Nations, League of Nations.
It should be very non-military stuff, with no real obligations to member states. Security Council should also be cool.
