I have seen the Editor's pick sometimes. When does the selection happen? Secondly, are there mods in our wiki and who are they?

Sorry for the newbie questions but I have been working lately with Kalopia and had the questions pop out once again.

Does anyone know a good site with a tutorial on how to do wiki. I know it's simple and straightforward, but I'm about to do things besides updating and adding to people's lists and such, and additionally I'm a perfectionist jerk with very little time on his hands and a lot of wiki updating to do, so I need a nice, simple set of how to format it so that I actually do it, rather than complain about it.

It depends on what you are looking for. I generally visit other pages in search of some peculiar feature and copy it.

To the first: The Selection was half-regular but the founder (I think it was Alohasoy) has long since departed these shores, so we've not seen it change for a while.

To the second: Whether he assigned deputies, I'm not sure. I'm sure Moderation might find the answer in due course.

To the remark: Always better an early newbie question than an early newbie whipping. :D

Know that feeling well. Here's a few starters. I imagine you already know the starting points but I'm just going to whack a complete list here for future reference.

Registration: Get the credit for the edits you do, as well as get a watchlist of the pages you've chosen to watch, a User page and discussion area.

Go to particracy.wikia.org and register, preferably before you make a page edit.

Starting a new page: Pick the name of the page you want to start, BUT REMEMBER:

*Do NOT start with "The". If you are "The Furious Baboon Consortium" you will be "Furious Baboon Consortium" as a page name.
*Do NOT use your abbreviation as a page name. "FBC" could start for several different things and a disambiguation (links to several relevant things to avoid confusion) page should be set up for it, but leave this to those who know.
*Get the capitals right. If the page is of a group, such as "Furious Baboon Consortium", keep the capitals on each word. If you are referring to a "Rivers of Bananas speech"... etc.

If your page is taken:
PARTIES:
*If the page exists for another party with the same name (if you are the "Democratic Socialist Party", you're almost certainly not the only one of the same name), add the SHORT nation name in brackets to your name, DON'T overwrite the existing. In this case, for "Bundesrepublik Didcot", the name of the nation itself is "Didcot" so you would be "Democratic Socialist Party (Didcot)". A disambiguation page will be added later for parties of the same name.
*If one already exists for your country, use the founding year as well as the nation. So, for the "Distended Dangling Parts Party" of Apathetic Wastelands of Soddet, founded in 1969, where a party has already existed with that name (take a deep breath) the page would be "Distended Dangling Parts Party (Soddet) (1969)".
NATIONS:
*Use the SHORT name for the NATION ITSELF. "Imperial Carbuncle of Swindon" is "Swindon". If the long name uses the adjective, such as "Pontesian Nut Roast", the name will be found somewhere in recent history or players' usage - in this case, "Pontesi" - but others can be hard to elucidate.
*For a PERIOD OF HISTORY of the Nation, use the full name, such as "Imperial Carbuncle of Swindon". If there are multiple periods of history with the same name, use the ordinal - such as "Second Republic of Dogwaste", or use the founding year of that period of time in the game, such as "Grand Turdesque Imperium of Dogwaste (4532)".
*For MONARCHIES, DYNASTIES, REPEATED/AMBIGUOUSLY TITLED names or events, put the name of the nation in the title as well as the founding year if necessary. For example, "House of Froestay-Bevaridge (Dogwaste)", "Majatran Empire (1940)" or "German Democratic Flaws (1932)".

Type "http://particracy.wikia.org/wiki/PAGETITLE" (obviously putting in your page title as per the guide above) and if it doesn't exist, you will get a link saying "Click here to start this page!". It's nauseatingly cheesy, but it doesn't lie. Congrats, you have a page.

Getting Started: There's a few guides here already.
http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/How_to_start_your_party_page
http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/How_to_start_your_nation_page
And as for the rest, it's essentially as you like it, but these other templates might be handy:
http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Infobox_Ethnic_Group
http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Infobox_Royalty
DO NOT EDIT the template pages themselves, go back to your page and enter the relevant code. Usually, this is {{Name of Template|first_field_name: value|second_field_name: value|...|last_field_name: value}}. "Template:" is NOT included in the name, you'll see an example on the Party/Nation page guides.

Formatting: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Formatting <--- MediaWiki is the software used on wikia, wikipedia, wiktionary etc. Lots of good pages there.

Links - http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Links - distinguish between external links and links to other pages on the site. Important for making sure your page is accessible to others and to direct people to things about the nation.
Images - http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Images - can take some getting used to.
Tables - http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Tables - just as in HTML, tables are not always intuitive to create. This doesn't make them any less useful and they tend to be used as a framework for templates, meaning other people don't have to squabble with them if it's for a purpose done before.

Making Templates isn't difficult once you grasp the formatting ideas in the above links but I won't go into those here. That'll be for another time.

My page for the VMM is messed up. Instead of having my nice and pretty box with all the political info, I instead, have the Civic Forum of Fivani's box where my box should be. What do I do now?

That's because you are using this:
http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Templa ... ical_Party

Somebody played with the original template or the above ain't the original template for political parties.

Anyway, I'm working on it.

edit; definitely, somebody played with the original template and now all party boxes have gone the same way.
