National Language Council

Postby Farsun » Tue Aug 07, 2012 3:23 pm

I've often wondered what languages were spoken in many nations, and seeing as I'm a great list maker (quoting moderation here) I figured that it would be nice to have a list of what game languages were what and what their real life equivalent was. So I shall begin! Please, post your national language and it's equivalent. The first two on the list, I will admit are self titled. Seeing as English is the standard of the game, I imagine it is only fair that it be named after the world which we play on.

Please post your cultural protocols, which describe your national language and minority languages so I can confirm the reports.

Name - Name in language - Real life language
Ancient Terran - Unknown - Latin
Terran sometimes called Luthorish - Terran - English
Dorvish - Dorvisch - German
Mothin - Motharski - Bulgarian
Dorvin - Dorvisky - Russian
Likatonian - Likatonijas - Latvian
Bailon (Beluzia) - Unknown - Japanese, Kansei dialect (Kun'yomi more common)
Majatran - Ma'atran - Modern Standard Arabic
Canrillian - Canrillaise - French

Luthori - Luthori - English.

(In theory, Luthori is an ergative-absolutive language related to Hulstrian: http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Holy_L ... e#Language . It looks like at some point, someone had done a lot of work on Terran linguistics, but I've no idea who or when.)

It'd be Luthorish, Russians don't speak Russia.

Quanzar:
Istalian: Italian
Southern Majatran: English dialect, same as Solentian. Some Majatran loan words, perhaps.
