I always thought that Terra's Iberian peoples come from Aloria, considering that it had Alirlà (Catalan) as a language a while back, and also owned a colonial empire. It would then be conceivable that the equivalents of Spanish and Portuguese are offshoots of Alirlà.

That wouldn't make sense because Artania is the birth place of the modern Germanic languages...

We've been spanish for a bit yes, but not enough to claim 'birthpalce of the spanish language'. I don't know a lot about Alorian history, so I can't comment on them being it either.
