But some of my policies are too liberal to be Socialist, and some are too communal to be Liberal.
If a Liberal classification is there, I want to be in it.
If a Socialist classification is there, I want to be in it.

Unless a party is exactly 50% Liberal and 50% Socialist at all times, then one or the other type would have a majority or plurality over the other, and thus it would be appropriate to classify it accordingly.

It's not necessarily 50-50.
There can be 60-60, which is a nice overlap.

I wouldn't want my party to be in just one classification.
I think it's a rather unnecessary game feature.

Party categories can be created in the wiki, and I think that's enough.
