Dranish political leaders debate

Postby Aquinas » Fri Dec 28, 2012 1:03 pm

This thread will mainly be of interest to us nerds in Dranland, but anyone interested from outside can join in as well. We are thinking of having some political debates between the party leaders ahead of the next election. Who should face off against who? This poll is just a bit of fun and Dranland isn't bound by the result - but it might be interesting. You may vote for three proposed debates. Please bear in mind that the polling tool only allows me to offer ten voting options, so apologies to the parties outside of the top 5 for their non-inclusion.

I would love to see Anzar vs ALO. That would be vicious, given that they disagree on pretty much anything, and ALO is caustic. Shame we will never have an Anzar vs Woodhall.

I agree on ALO vs Aznar, since they represent diametrically opposed ideologies (economic libertarianism/social liberalism vs economic leftism/social fascism), providing endless material for clashes. My second choice was Butterworth vs ALO because they have a long history of personal aversion and are hugely different characters with regards to their personal backgrounds (working class vs upper-class/underdog vs descendant of one of Dranland's most influential political dynasties). My third choice was Gomez vs Aznar simply because the PP, since the days of Tom Marshall, is so ardently opposed to any authoritarianism that we could expect a sparkling debate. Moreover, the PP leader needs a sharper profile.

Woodhall vs Aznar would have been epic, and going back further I'd have loved Duvalle vs Marshall.

Gomez seems a little too tame. The difference between Gomez and ALO is the difference between "you're a bad man" and "fuck you". The former is unentertaining.

Oh yes, I recall Gomez is recovering from shock...if he stands down, do you know who'll replace him?

I voted for ALO vs Butterworth and ALO vs Aznar, because I think they'd be quite spectacular. I also voted for Alvarez vs Gomez, which I think could be pretty interesting too.

Hehe! Well, technically I think General Discussion is an OOC forum, so you don't strictly need to use the "OOC".

About Mariano Delgado...forgive me for not knowing much, but is that a man or a woman?
