Let's allow multis!

Should multiple accounts be allowed?

Let's allow multis!

Many have complained about how Dranland has such a huge amount of activity (over 200 pages in the news section, compared with the 5, 10 or 20 pages of other nations) and would like to decrease the number of parti allowed in one nation.

For me, this would be the wrong way to go. Creativity is what Particracy needs more of, and it does not increase by restricting creativity even more. There are many countries whose lore is vastly underdeveloped, and who would be greatly helped if an active RP:er could go there. However, as that would result in having to deactivate the original party, perhaps ending some promising RP in the first nation, many do not want to do that.

The solution for me is not to impose more restrictions on creativity, but to allow multiple accounts. One player having to many multis could result in virtual cheating on the international stage, so let's put a restriction on three or four multiple accounts. That way, active roleplayers would have the opportunity to go and give new life to underdeveloped countries and spread their creativity elsewhere, which would be good for everyone.

If multis were allowed, I personally wouldn't be interested in having more than one active account because - as many people know - I love Dranland too much and am too absorbed with playing in Dranland to have much time left for playing anywhere else ;). That said, I do take the point that some players would welcome the opportunity to play in more than one nation, and indeed would have the time/energy/creativity to make a very worthwhile contribution to more than one nation.

If it was difficult to find player slots in the game, then I would say a definite "No" to multis, simply because it would be unfair to lock so many people out of the game. However, the fact that so many nations are empty makes it less easy to dismiss your proposal out of hand.

To make up my mind on this, what I would want to know is: how practical would it be for the Mods to oversee and police a system whereby each player would be allowed an account in, say, 2, 3 or 4 nations? If doing this would be easy, then I'm sympathetic. On the other hand, if doing this would be unduly time-consuming and complicated, then I would be less sympathetic.

One concern I would have about allowing multis is that it might lead to an increase in players who open up parties and then lose interest in them. That can be destabilising for the other players in the nation. I'm not necessarily sure this would happen if multis were allowed, but I suspect it could happen...

If you want to leave a nation than it would lead to destabilising and you can't force people to participate. Who would want multis if they are not inclined to play it. Establishing multis won't be a problem because game allows you to establish more than one account though the mods are the ones that deactivates multis so if mods aren't touch them then there won't be a problem.

No offense, but I think allowing multi's wouldn't fix a thing. The problem is player distribution, not a lack of players. If anything, I think we may need to have a cap on players in a country. Besides, if you allow me to have multi's the only nation I'd go to is Dranland; I'd be adding to the problem instead of fixing it. In fact, I'd venture to say a majority of players would go to either Dranland, Rutania, Ikradon, Kazulia, Hutori or any of the other nations that are brimming with activity and players just to check it out and see what the fuss is about. It's only natural that humans want to interact with other humans and be apart of something.

3 nations have 8 players

1 nation has 6 players

4 nations have 5 players

52 nations have 1 to 4 players

If I could have multis, the last place I would go is somewhere with activity. I do not want to leave Cildania but I do want something to distract me from the clowns I am working against in Cildania.

I would say multi's should be a reward for active forum membership or something.

Or how about allowing people to have multis in return for a small donation towards the maintenance/development of the game?

Wow... Never thought I'd see a Pay-to-Win discussion in Particracy.

....That or the forum dwellers proposing to set up an elite tier for themselves, the only ones allowed to have multis.
