Let's have a thread were making a rant is the topic.
I start:
When will "newbies" (I'm trying to be polite here) stop raiding Davostan?

Because it takes away a slice of the diversity of the game's setting with it. I can see something positive in a raid if it improves something, such as the one that led to the restoration of Gao-Soto, which was creative and didn't exactly destroy what came before. But this hardly doesn't fit into that category. And the idea of marauding bands of newbies wearing havoc on the lore doesn't exactly make me feel comfortable. If you want to add to what went before that's great, but it shouldn't come at the expense of extinguishing of what came before.Aquinas wrote:What is so objectionable about the reforms going on in Davostag? If I have any opinion at all about it, I'm pleased to see some activity and competition there. Lets not knock the 2 new (or newer) players there. They're playing the game. I hope they'll enjoy playing the game, and I hope, over time, they will become more immersed in it - though of course, that is up to them.
Davostag periodically attracts new players who are enticed by the prospect of overturning its Satanic constitutional paraphernalia. From time to time they succeed, though IDR is patient enough to wait for them to either lose or leave, and eventually puts things back to the way they were before.
Now this is something I see as unfortunate as well, as Davostag's setting could provide great opportunities for RP and lore-development. I do remember how IDR once said he's like to compete with another player who respected the general theme of the nation, and I'd love to see that as well. I had a party in the region that I put some effort into (the Death Knights Brotherhood), but sadly, I am not allowed to be at three or four places at a time.Aquinas wrote:I can't understand why anyone would think it is a great idea to shut down a nation through the early election technique, treaty locking, reducing the proposal quotas to the minimum, etc.. What is so wonderful about a nation with Satanic-themed constitutional titles, but where hardly anything ever happens and there is no competition?

SelucianCrusader wrote:Sadly, even for being genericists (is that a word?), the level of RP in Davostan is quite disillusioning, to put it mildly: "SRP, this is the stab in the back.", "ha ha", "ha ha". (wasn't one "ha ha" enough?)

They're not entirely "generic" either. Both parties clearly have a pro-worker/left-wing/communist agenda. The new nation title they are introducing includes the term "Socialist" in it. They are passing a Bill to execute the Unholy Satanilic Emperor, which is sort of exciting, I guess. Personally I would encourage them to develop their RP'ing further, but I don't see how they've done anything bad. At worst, all they are doing is replacing a bland Satanic theme with a bland socialist/communist theme.

The name of the legislature is called "Congress"; in one of the bills that failed, they wanted to rename the HOS, "President". They have every intention of turning that country generic and if given the chance they probably would.
