I am basing this off of the Terran time zone map.

I'm uneasy about the distance that map puts for the ocean between eastern Dovani and western Majatra/Artania. It might be good to extend the longitudes out to make that ocean bigger. Fortunately, for this discussion, all that matters are the latitudes.

Indrala definitely fits into similarity with those areas, minus Australia and plus Malaysia, Cambodia, southern Vietnam, Philippines.

And just for reference, the coastal waters off the north Indralan coast would be relatively calm and warm all year round. And in the south, the currents of those waters would originate from the direction of Kanjor and at the moment I'm not certain of the effects or characteristics of those currents. What the wiki currently says about the climate would not seem inaccurate.

Should we first work on our climate map, Zongxian? I can smash together some blank maps for you to draw in with crayons in Paint if you'd like, then I can use those to make a neater version in Photoshop.

A climate map would be good as the basis of this stuff.

I think a climate map would be good, I'd also like to see a distance map made eventually showing the size of countries and what not.

Yes, that would be very helpful!

The ocean current map will be pretty simple, other than figuring out the flows in oddly shaped areas. And I will try my best to denote climates with as detailed as possible Köppen classifications. As things go along, I may simplify it somewhat for the sake of Particracy's odd geographic makeup.

And I'll just note, on weekdays I might not get much done due to work. That may (or may not) effect my timeliness in this project, depends on how lazy I am in the evenings.

To get a feel for everything, I put together a VERY shoddy map with ocean currents and Trewartha, rather than Köppen, climate zones. This is far from final; but it gives a very good idea of what direction to go with a more formal rough draft. In particular I still need to refine some the rainshadow areas and probably a number of the subtropical zones based on their summer conditions. And Artania looks really cold; it's unsettling.

Much remains for me to do with this map.

Always one to be late to every party except the ones I host myself, let me ask: Has this project progressed any since the Summer? I wonder if the work on indexing economics that we did a while back could be brought into this thread-

BTW I've done a bit of a dig myself, and I'm not sure of how much interest these will be to people, but here are...

A map of Petroleum Exporting Countries and Locations drawn up at some point in the past (may have been Farsun's work, not sure).

Resources of Terra thread (rather ancient).

National Oil and Gas Companies page on the wiki.

Kalistan has Nationalized petroleum exploration, exploitation and marketing, and has built a new refinery at Sulari, Suldanor, in tandem with increased emphasis on infrastructure and port facilities in Suldanor. Kalistan has also launched the new Kalistani National Petroleum Company (KALNAPECO) for the purposes of distribution of Kalistani petroleum products across Terra.
