Reminder: CP affirmations to be in by September 1st

Postby Aquinas » Mon Jun 27, 2016 11:56 am

Just want to remind everyone that as per the Game Rules, Culturally Protected nations have until September 1st to affirm their Culturally Protected status. If they do not affirm by that date, they will become candidates for Culturally Open status.

Please consult the Cultural Protocols Index for more information on the cultural status of each nation.

To quote section 15.1 of the rules,

15.1.1 The simplest way to affirm a Cultural Protocol is to pass an OOC (out-of-character) "Motion of Cultural Protocol Affirmation" bill. To qualify as an affirmation, the bill must be supported by a 2/3rds majority of all players with seats (not just those with seats who vote) and over 50% of the seats in the legislature. Also, at least one of the players sponsoring the update must have been currently continuously active in the nation (ie. no inactivations) for at least 1 month. A link to the bill should then be posted on the Cultural Protocol Approvals thread.

Affirmation can also be carried out through passing a Cultural Protocol update. For more detailed information on this process, please read sections 15 & 16 of the rules.

A CP update will normally count as an affirmation, even if Moderation does not accept the actual update. To quote the rules,

15.1.2 Alternatively, a nation's Cultural Protocol can be affirmed by the passing of a Cultural Protocol update (see section 16). The update need not make significant changes. Nor is it necessary for it to be accepted by Moderation in order for it to count as an affirmation. However, to count as an affirmation it must meet these conditions:

- It should bear a recognisable resemblance to the existing Cultural Protocol. For example, it would not count as an affirmation if, in a Pakistani-themed nation, players passed a Cultural Protocols update proposing to completely replace the Pakistani theme with an Australian one.

- It should be supported by a 2/3rds majority of all players with seats (not just those with seats who vote) and over 50% of the seats in the legislature.

- At least one of the players sponsoring the update must have been currently continuously active in the nation (ie. no inactivations) for at least 1 month.

- It should be formally submitted to Moderation for approval on the Cultural Protocol Approvals thread.

And abnormally?

As the rules state, a passed CP update would not count as an affirmation if it bore no recognisable resemblance to the existing Cultural Protocol. "For example, it would not count as an affirmation if, in a Pakistani-themed nation, players passed a Cultural Protocols update proposing to completely replace the Pakistani theme with an Australian one."

Another reminder, everybody: if you want to guarantee your nation's Cultural Protocol continues beyond September 1st, then you need to make sure it gets affirmed.

Reminding everybody again: if you want to make sure your nation's Cultural Protocol continues after September 1st and it has not yet been affirmed, be sure to get your affirmation in on time. See sections 15 & 16 of the Game Rules for more detailed information.

Another reminder: If your nation's Cultural Protocol is not affirmed by September 1st, it will become a candidate for Culturally Open status.

The following nations are now technically unable to affirm their Cultural Protocols and will definitely be candidates:

Deltaria
Dolgava
Malivia
Pontesi

The following Culturally Protected nations have yet to affirm their Cultural Protocols, but are still technically able to affirm by September 1st:

Aldegar
Cildania
Cobura
Darnussia

Dankuk
Dorvik
Dundorf
Egelion

Gaduridos
Kafuristan
Kanjor
Kazulia

Luthori
Selucia
Trigunia

Doing a "Motion of Cultural Protocol Affirmation" is not difficult or complicated. All it needs to be is a bill with "Motion of Cultural Protocol Affirmation" or something like that in the bill title.

Deltaria
Dolgava
Malivia
Pontesi
Selucia
