NSEC Leaders Conference

Postby jamescfm » Mon Nov 05, 2018 12:14 am

I'm interested to start some role-play involving the North Seleyan Economic Community. Players in the nations who are members or those who would like to be, would you be interested in sending a delegation (either the head of state, foreign minister, trade minister, a special NSEC delegate, a party leader or a combination of these) to a conference to be held in the Kalistani capital of Kaliburg? If you are interested, let me know your nation's approach/policy regarding the NSEC. Specifically, consider the follwing questions:
  • would you like to increase intra-group trade?
  • are you in favour of further expansion?
  • are you concerned by NSEC members who are also members of the Northern Council?
  • would you support military cooperation?
  • would you support further political integration (i.e. creation of a bureaucracy)?
Please use this thread as an out of character planning place.

Comrades Allen and Sykes, Foreign Minister and Industrial Minister will attend the conference.

The SP will oppose military cooperation on the basis of collective security. We would like to focus more on military technology transfers from more advanced nations to Kalistan, training programs and joint exercises.

President Nerita Apostolou shall attend the conference on behalf of the Republic of Keymon.

Keymon will oppose military cooperation. Keymon will oppose the establishment of a bureaucracy or further political integration. Keymon would like to increase intra-Group trading. Keymon holds no position concerning further expansion. Keymon disagrees with the concerns about Northern Council nation’s being in the NSEC.
Keymon believes the NSEC should be solely a trading organization. It should not concern itself with military or political issues. It’s main goal should be to consolidate trade between its members.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ernest de la Croix, Minister of Science and Technology Rachelle LaSalle, and Minister of Trade and Industry Andréanne Bourbon will be attending the conference.

Lourenne opposes military cooperation as well as excluding Northern Council nations from joining. A Bureaucracy would be accepted if it was extremely small and limited. Goals for this conference would mainly focus on Trade, Exchange of Technology, and Culture.

Thanks for responding guys. An update on how I want this to go, once I'm happy that everyone interested has expressed their desires I will go ahead and post up 2/3 posts in the Conferences sub-forum detailing things like what happened, who attended, what was discussed etc. After that, any person will be free to "react" to the events of the summit as they please. Furthermore, as a player in Kalistan I would be keen to hold further bilateral meetings with member nations once the conference has concluded although at present these will have to go through Doc (since he holds the Kalistani Presidency and Foreign Ministry).

I’m the only player in Likatonia who does any RP, so I’m interested, but we just had elections and haven’t gotten a government formed yet. If I can get Foreign Affairs and trade and Industry then I should be able to do it.

Baltusian Secretaries of State and Commerce, Allison Nickersom and Aurora Landry respectively will be attending the conference.

Baltusia is entirely in favour of expansion of the NSEC to the west of Seleya but opposes any form of military integration through this organization; it was built for trade and economics, not military. Baltusia would also protest the exclusion of Northern Council nations

Celina Salko, the Valruzian Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Dominik Karczewski, the Valruzian Minister of Trade and Industry, will be attending the conference - expressing their support for eliminating trade barriers between NSEC nations, extending the list of NSEC member states, increasing cultural/technological/academic exchange and strengthening defensive potential of the NSEC nations.

Urbán Ktisztina Aggie, special secretary of the confederation for admission to new international organizations, New Endralon / Kizenia / Kuzaki

We received the invitation to participate in this economic community and we are interested in expanding and betting on a stronger relationship between Keris and Seleya. We would like to participate in the conference as an observer, until parliament debates the inclusion of the country in this treaty.

The focus of CNEKK is on fair trade and much closer relations with other countries. We are not interested in collective military cooperation in this area, but rather in long-term bilateral agreements. In this sense, we are very pleased with the current organization of the northern council and we are happy to have other member countries in this economic community. We are open to the possibilities of greater political integration.

The 2nd Great Democratic Republic of Lodamun would like to send a delegation led by Minister of Trade Geofrey Walschot. He has been tasked by the President of Lodamun.
What legislators in Lodamun would like to know is what the others think about NSEC.
Should we expand NSEC and are we concerned about NSEC members who have also joined the Northern Council?
If we think about NSEC as a powerfull economic tool for North-Seleya and neighboring states in the future, we should actually consider making NSEC membership a exclusive one. If we want to expand NSEC powers, we should allign some clear borders. Treaties with other countries outside NSEC could remain possible in a few cases: or these treaties don't have any economical or trade articles, or these treaties should be applicable to the whole of NSEC.
We also wonder what would happen with some treaties like the one Lodamun has on Newport Haven. Our harbour facility charges less than a percent for the goods being handled in that port. Does this jeopardize free trade?

On military cooperation, the President is brief: he encourages cooperation between nations considering training, expertise and buying military equipment in common pool. On the other hand, it might seem challenging if NSEC would have a thorough cooperation that covers all of the signatories. Lodamun is in favor of support to these nations that wish to cooperate on certain military issues, but to keep the main core of the military in hands of each nation seperately.

On trade, the last few decades the people of Lodamun have tried to expand the trade with other nations, and we hope NSEC will bring better cooperation between the signatories and between NSEC and other nations and/or organisations.
