As you may or may not have noticed, there has recently been a government change in Kazulia. The centrist-leftist-conservative Solidarity coalition has been destroyed, and the far-right National Purity Congress (owned by me) has engaged in a partnership with the populist Borgersammeføring, turning the old, ultranationalist NPC leader and demagogue Theodor Lynden Frankenstein into Kazulia's new Prime Minister.

Theodor Lynden Frankenstein is more-or-less openly a fascist. As such, he is supporting the apartheid regime in Utari Mosir and is going to veto all sanctions directed against the third-world axis (even though they are probably not that fond of Kazulia).

Frankenstein's (secret) goal is to normalize relations with these countries and turn them into Kazulian "protectorates".

Another update on the "Axis of Dovani": the defence pact has been signed between Liore and Suyu Llaqta, Utari Mosir will join at some point soon. The next step is for the far right to seize control of Istapali, through a combination of a botched military coup and militant forces (supported by Liore and Suyu Llaqta), and for them to join the Axis too. Once these four nations are assembled, Utari Mosir will launch a swift invasion of Kamphon and "liberate" the island and all other three nations will recognise the new puppet government as legitimate, preventing Cifutingan from responding.

As a result, it will be left to an international coalition (provisionally led by Dorvik and Lourenne, though I am hoping that Indrala among others could be involved) to regain control of the island for Cifutingan. At the same time, there will be a surge in domestic opposition to the Mosirak government, which the international coalition will take advantage of for a full invasion of Utari Mosir. The response of the other three members of the Axis will essentially be to renege on their commitment to their ally. After this, there will be a "settling down" period in which international attention on the Axis drops but I'm not sure where it will go from there.

It is very interesting this focus on the Sovereignty vs Internationalism. Currently this is probably the most important topic about international contrasts, in Dovani as well as in Majatra where the debates on the Right of Sovereignty of the nations for some time are generating great tensions (the Barmenistan regime, the Deltarina regime, the Republican party from Selucia, etc...).

So... for some weeks I'm preparing an RP about a Majatran War. This is the plot currently accepted in Istalia and by the players of Vanuku, Deltaria, Barmenistan:

- Barmenistan is even more accused to have chemical weapons and even more evidences come on surface.
- Vanuku and Istalia decide thus to attack the Social National Regime.
- Deltaria intervene in defense of Barmenia (being into the Consortium Alliance led by Deltaria).
- Also Kafuristan enter the war alongside Barmenistan and Deltaria (both Barmenistan and Kafuristan are socialist regimes currently)
- Barmenistan and Kafuri become the main fronts for ground battles.
- In Kafuristan, Istalia and Deltaria fight dividing the country.
- Istalian Military push for a large offensive which can kick off Deltaria from Kafuristan but the Civil Authorities push for an premature establishment of a Kafuri Free Republic. This make lost to the Military the opportunity to oust Deltaria from Kafuristan and indeed Deltaria is able to consolidate its position in Kafuristan alongside the forces of the Worker's Republic.
- Deltaria at surprise, launch an assoult directly to Istalia and contemporary in Kafuristan: in Kafuristan the assault is blocked on the front lines while in Istalia Deltarian troops arrive to advance in Trivendito pointing Romula, which is hit by air assoults, but the unespected arrival of new forces led by Marco Raniu which take the northern Deltarian shores and try to advance to the capital push Istalia and Deltaria to a ceasefire and to a reciprocal retreat from the anemy national territory.

Now, given that Kafuristan player is too busy and cannot partecipate, I proposed to move the Kafuri front directly in Deltaria and with the electoral victory in Barmenistan of the opposition I proposed, and the idea seems it was accepted, in Barmenistan that this electoral victory could unleash a coup by part of Social Nationals.

With the Pontesian crisis, which can be easily integrated in this conflict between sovereignty and internationalism in defence of human rights, we could merge the two conflicts.

I was planning to create a new thread for this purpose but I decided there would be no harm in resurrecting this older thread. A handful of the points made earlier in the thread might still be relevant or useful, so I would encourage other players to have a read through if they have not before. Like when I originally created this thread, I am hoping to promote greater cooperation and better planning in international role-play. The main objective in the short term is to be able to accurately understand and describe the existing international order. Once that is done, we can begin to think about how it might be changed.

At present, it appears to me that Beiteynu and Lourenne dominate international politics. A group of countries with various connections to Beiteynu and Lourenne accounts for most of the other relevant players in the international order. Though it is not exhaustive, this group includes Dankuk, Deltaria, Dundorf, Kundrati, and Luthori. Though each of these countries might have their own rivalries, they are mostly economically, militarily and politically aligned with Beiteynu and Lourenne. The connections between these countries are reaffirmed through the Artanian Union and the Majatran Security Cooperation Organisation.

Aside from this group of countries, there are two countries that I would identify as representing a challenge to the existing international order: Vascania and Yingdala. At present, these countries cannot rival the influence of the first group but they would certainly harbour aspirations to. In the case of Vascania in particular, these ambitions would be limited by its economic interconnectedness with Beiteynu.

Various countries which fall outside of the schema I have proposed might claim to be significant international players. Countries such as Dolgava, Dorvik or Tukarali would certainly be able to exercise influence in international affairs but they do not necessarily align with either of these two groups. In addition, there are the many countries that have foreign policy positions but are not influential enough to be relevant for these purposes.

Based on this brief summary, I would like to invite other players to share their thoughts and suggestions. Please do not hesitate to disagree with my characterisations of things.

I don't think I have enough experience or knowledge of the current situation to comment on other parts of the world, but I will briefly detail Dankuk's foreign policy.

For some consistent 150 years, Dankuk's whole scheme has basically been the whole Dengist mantra of "keep a cool head and maintain a low profile". Foreign Policy is extremely concerned with securing peace and neoliberal trade in the West Dovanian Region, but not much else beyond that. Because it's very much a capitalist trade-based economy, Dankuk is most concerned with continuing to attract investment and keeping the flow of international trade steady and rising. This means that Dankuk almost never takes a strong foreign policy stance and tries to save face with feuding parties by being as neutral as possible. The only exceptions would be either 1. if said controversy arises in Western Dovani or 2. a nation does something so heinous the entire world order condemns them.

Dankuk doesn't really have truly committed relationships outside of the WDU, but it does favor long-time historically established trade partners and has some military alliances. If I had to describe the nation's relevance I'd probably place it in the mid tier. As a developed service and sophisticated manufacturing economy in a strategic position it has some leverage - especially due to a developed and budding arms/tech market - but it's not populous or influential enough to really project any significant influence outside of the WDU region.

As for North Dovani, it'll cooperate with whoever to get richer or more developed.

Looks good.

@jamescfm, I want to pick up on this little part:

In the case of Vascania in particular, these ambitions would be limited by its economic interconnectedness with Beiteynu.

Vascania is not interconnected with Beiteynu, but Beiteynu's shipping industry. I have extensively RPed the latter as rather detached from the former and then I RPed (and I still am) towards decentralisation in the oil and gas market Vascania is involved with.

Safe to say, the leverage is about 50-50 between Vascania and Beiteynu's shipping - I'm going to keep RPing decentralisation to bring aboard other players and nations in the Vamaj Network. Mind you I'm not doing it as a task, I'm just having fun with it!

Which, considering the lack of relations between Vascania - Beiteynu for 200 years now, you can assume there's no connectivity with Beiteynu itself. And Beiteynu can't exactly stop Vascanian moves in international politics since its highest grossing net exporter needs Vascania (and rarely listens to Beiteynu).

I am going to try to write up a general summary of the foreign policy of various countries to provide a guide for planning role-play. Here is an example for Vascania.

Vascania
Allies: Jelbe, Malivia, Yingdala
Rivals: Beiteynu, Luthori, Lourenne
Priorities: Retaining an influential position in international oil markets, promoting national economic development, reducing outside influence in Dovani and Temania
Concerns: Foreign control of important national industries, foreign influence in southern Dovani, not being treated as an equal partner by other countries
