Changes to Section 5 of the Game Rules

Postby jamescfm » Tue Jun 30, 2020 1:36 pm

Please note that Moderation has implemented a couple of minor changes to Section 5 (Moderation Procedures and Administration) of the Game Rules. In effect the new rules codify a procedure that was being implemented informally by Moderation until now. When a nation renaming is passed, the short or common name of the nation will now be placed in brackets next to the formal name of the nation in the native language. All nations will have this standard applied retroactively in a suitable manner. In addition, there has been a slight change in the procedure for passing a nation renaming bill. Like other constitutional variables, it will now only require a two-thirds majority vote rather than the previously required two-thirds of active players with seats. Let us know if you have concerns or feedback.

The new version
Section 5 - Moderation Procedures and Administration

[...]

5. Players are permitted to change the name of their nation, cities and regions. In order to do this, they must pass a bill with a two-thirds majority and then post a request HERE. Renaming requests must be in a language appropriate to the nation, as determined by the Nation Renaming Guide. The short or common name of the country will be included in brackets after the formal name, e.g. "Cakaniye Cumhuriyeti (Jakania)";

The previous version
Section 5 - Moderation Procedures and Administration

[...]

5. Players are permitted to change the name of their nation, newspaper, cities and regions and post such a request HERE, to do this they must pass a bill with 2/3 majority of active players with seats. All re-naming requests must be within the Cultural Protocols of the nation in question. As a note, players must include the original name of their nation in parenthesis when giving the formal name of their nation. For instance "Zardic Empire (Zardugal)" would be appropriate whereas "Zardic Empire" will not be approved;

Note that all nation names have now been brought into compliance with the new rules. In all cases, we endeavoured to maintain the substance of the nation name. If you feel there is a problem with your nation's new name then the best thing to do would be to pass a nation renaming bill that meets the new standards. Let us know if you have any concerns.
