RP Planning: Pax Luthori

Postby Robert F. Kennedy » Sat Jan 06, 2024 7:08 pm

Howdy folks,

"Today is the day where the Mighty Luthori Empire became the world hegemon, everyone came under the guiding light of freedom and democracy in Fort William and begun to drink proper drinks, like tea and enjoy football, not the weird abomination in Baltusia and the Luthorian world in North Seleya, but real football, representated by the magestic First Division..." - The Luthorian Broadcasting Corporation.

We all know this never happened, right? Well, why not collaborate to make that happen, in a more realistic way of course.

What I am saying as a more realistic way of having Pax Luthori isn't by having Luthori dominating the world, this would unrealistic and would block a lot of potential RP developments in the world, which isn't my objective, despite what I've said on the Particracy Classic Discord.

So, enough of bla-bla-bla, I hereby present to that community, one of my most worked project since I am a player of Particracy: Pax Luthori, also named with the two different names, the Luthorian Peace, if we are translating Selucian directly to Luthorian or the Imperial Peace, if we are mostly referring to Luthori's hubris of being an Empire, also known as Luthorian Exceptionnalism.

Luthorian Exceptionnalism is the belief, long present in Luthori, that this "Green and Pleasent Land" is distinctive from other Artanian or world nations due to its history of relative stability since the 50th Century and the Restoration of the Empire in 4960, so, in the long years since the restoration of the Empire, Luthori has mostly showed and believed to be the bastion of "democracy, free market and monarchy" in Artania, this was mostly emphacized by the Constitutional Democratic Ministeries, who helped built and shape Luthorian nationalism to the form we know of it today and with the recent Labour ministeries mostly turning a blind eye on this patriotism, as long as it didn't interfered with their plans for the country, which, knowing the identity of Luthorian exceptionnalism, wasn't going to happen. Other factors come into effect when Luthorian exceptionnalism is talked, like the fact that Luthori is also said to be different from its neighbors due to the dominant Luthorian culture which reign there, compared to the north where nations are culturally more aligned with the Dundorfian culture and the south being a vastly diverse collection of cultures.

That doctrine of Luthorian exceptionnalism became the somewhat official policy of the Foreign Office during Maximillian Bates' term into the Foreign Ministry and continued by his successor at the post, the Socialist Robert Henry, although, in a less expressive way than what Bates could have done. The "Bates Doctrine" is a somewhat odd doctrine since its combines the elements of Luthorian Exceptionnalism, like the defence of free markets and the rule of liberal democracies around the world, but also mix up some other "realistic" foreign policy aspects, like the announced Realpolitik or more like "Pragmatism" of the Foreign Office, something that was seen during the Migrants' Pass Crisis where Luthori privilegied its national interest first above the alliance, already shaken, with Beiteynu. The end result was Beiteynu being humiliated from this fiasco, Luthori proving to the world that they are capable of standing up to other great powers on their own, while also pissing Lourenne in the process, but that's a detail.

The thing about this "Pax Luthori" is the following: Pax Luthori is the RP endgame where Imperial Luthori become the undisputed hegemon of the Artanian Continent, while also keeping foundations for cooperation and equality between Artanian states, with Luthori just being that "senior partner" in the organizations that are going to be mentionned.

And, unfortunately, I also forgot something which was kept secret by the Empire during all these years (I hope so), which is the Security Zone policy, while not officially acknowledged by the LFO [Luthorian Foreign Office], this is a policy where some countries are apart of a "security zone", these countries being those who borders Luthori, like Ikradon, Narikaton & Darnussia, Kundrati, Endralon, Hobrazia and Beluzia, which are deemed to be "protecting Luthori" from oustide threats, due to their positions. The thing is, Luthori is going to do anything and I mean everything, to keep these countries stable and have "friendly" governments in power, also, according to the Foreign Office, friendly governments are "governments which are not going to threaten the stability of the Security Zone by radical and irresponsible decisions, putting a danger to the stability of that said country". [So, if, one day, let's say a government in Narikaton and Darnussia is being roleplayed as being an extremist government killing people because they are Dundorfian, for example, then Luthori will likely (all depends on the wishes of the player there)] intervene.

Finally, Pax Luthori would require that the Dorvish influence over Artania, or what remains of it, totally collapses, not into irrelevency, but still, Dorvik cannot and will not remain as the "Hegemon of Artania", and also, with the Dorvish, the Yeudis/Beiteynuese influence totally collapses in Artania, leaving Kundrati (which I think had already been done in the last decades) to embrace collaborating with Artania.

My proper objective is to get Luthori become the "Hegemon" of Artania, while Artania is unified under the principle of cooperation between Artanian states. While I also planned for Luthori to project its influence over the Commonwealth, meh.

The current planning thread, in general is that:

- Collapse/Great reduction of Dorvish influence in Artania, Potential Dorvish-Luthorian Cold War for the future of the continent.
- Stabilization of the Artanian Union and creation of the future Artanian League [ASCO]
- Collapse/Great reduction of Beiteynuese/foreign influence in Artania.
- Rise of Luthori as the "Hegemon" of Artania, while all Artanian states are collaborating and are treated equally eachother. (Big diff with the Dorvish-like hegemony)
- Luthorian economic expansion into Artania.

:P Alright, I'm totally going to get destroy for that by all Artanian players, which I think had other projects in their mind, but hey, I will remain positive, after all, what can possibly go wrong?

And as I am Ligbruderkrieg, I will finish this presentation (I hope this was useful to everyone) with a little catchphrase that everyone know...Long live the Empire.

Kundrati will be roleplayed as independent as possible and we will push for equality. We may be pro-Artanian but this must not be mistaken as puppetry. Kundrati's been down that road twice with Endralon in the 4800s and with Dorvik/Beiteynu. That's how I plan on roleplaying Kundrati.

"Pax Luthori" is not something I quite agree as I also said in Discord. First of all being a continental hegemon is difficult to sustain (getting it done is different, sustaining it is different, Luthori could end up in a financial or political crisis and all work would (metaphorically) go to bin) secondly "Luthori is going to do anything and I mean everything" does not leave a nice impression for me.

And I totally understand that, I am mostly trying to get Luthori to be that "senior partner" in Artania, while all nations are independent, imagine the MSCO for example, everyone is collaborating like equal states with equal status, right? Well, no one forget who is the great power in the room. As I've said, Luthori do not have any interest at becoming like the Dorvish. I hope this can reassure you lol. You can ping on discord in DMs, if you want to.

You are right on the fact that it's complicated to be a continental hegemon, becoming one is something, but staying as one is also something. Secondly, the thing is, it's not Luthori was going to coup the governments in these countries (except if agreed by the player in that particular country), it's going to ask for reassurance on the status of the relationship between Luthori and that particular nation, if we are reassured, we have no reason to worry. Even if it's a communist or nationalistic government.

First off, nothing wrong with this. Remember it's just an OOC discussion about a potential IC setting.

Having said that, @hopesfor you seem to confuse the 2 with your comment. Can you help us out with some clarity? Do you mean as a player, or as a party or as a gov composed of that party?

On Kundrati, @Lig, we shouldn't underestimate the country ICly. Seems everybody is doing it. Best I can understand why is that hyr's RP style really differed from Aud's in Dorvik and we had a lot of "Kundrati sucks" in the air. It's quite the opposite. I know i've fought my battles for that OOCly and ICly.

Just to give an example you can relate with, Kundrati's defence industry is in fact, better than Luthori's.

On Beiteynu, looks good to me.

And finally, @Lig if I may a few RP tips. You are clearly passionate about geopolitics - I am as well - and want to engage in a story of power play and gravitas and influence. From my general experience, I've seen 3 ways this can happen:

1 - The bully tactics - keep OOC out of it and don't OOCly play dumb to the consequences of the IC (so far only Kubrick has managed to do this)
2 - The soft influence tactics - embrace everyone's IC setting, be consistent and strap in for a committed long-term
3 - The clearcut planning tactics - plan every detail with everyone and then execute the story

Finally, international RP needs 2 small but very important things: readable posts (no massive paragraphs/sentences) and reacting to other's posts.

And you gotta react ICly, not OOCly.

-

To sum up, how can I help? And how do you think you'd want to proceed with other Luthorian players?
