RP Notice: Jelbic revolution and military equipment from Zardugal

Hello everyone!

First of, we'd like to get started by inviting players to take a look at the RP Planning Thread: Jelbic Revolution, which seems to be a great opportunity for some solid, fun and very creative international RP for everyone to get involved in - and it's been a while. No matter if your idea is small or large, impactful or just indirect to the storyline currently being planned in Majatra, we encourage players to give it a try if they think there's fun in it for them.

Don't be afraid to give it a try; the community itself, the RPC and Moderation will continue to help out and guide players.

Moderation/RPC will keep an eye for opportunities from that storyline to prompt for potential useful info coming out of it, like guides, a template, etc., to hopefully enable more RP Planning like this, especially from newer players in the community.

Secondly, as a result of the abolishment of the military, the publication of blueprints and the mass sale of military equipment from Zardugal recently, we have to communicate to everyone as Moderation, that we have 2 very specific concerns arising from the RP:

1) A risk in players not considering the work of past player's into their new roleplaying in a nation. In this case, there was a lot of work put into military equipment by past players in Zardugal, which admittedly is a niche passion but still, one of the aspects of the game's RP-side. We admit, PT is not the best when it comes to easily providing contextual information and this storyline in one of many past and future cases.

Our intention is of course not to deter players from doing their own storylines; our concern stems from avoiding to deter players who like long-term storylines and put time and effort into the world building aspect of the game. There are many solutions to this, some work, some don't, others haven't been tried. At this point, we simply express our concern so the community is aware, and nothing more.

2) An abuse of US-based military equipment over other players. Military is a power display, military equipment is a boom boom power display. It's cool, conflict is interesting and it's one of the topics most frequently picked up on from players. For better or for worse, US-based military equipment is higher in quality in general, so we're concerned more players will suddenly rise up having F22s of superior military capability and, as a result, more players ignoring more RP. We simply would like to avoid that, if possible, and at the same time continue to enable players to do military equipment roleplay.

To that end:

- We kindly ask that players involved in the US-based military equipment storyline from Zardugal keep us in the loop (RPC/Moderation) on Discord and pitch us what they have in mind so we can offer useful information on them incorporating F22s while also avoiding players fighting over who has the best F22

- We will be working on a guideline or guidelines as a result of a very constructive discussion in the RPC, to hopefully enforce our twofold goal of avoiding abuse of military equipment and continuing to enable players to do military equipment RP, solo and with other players/nations

Finally, Moderation is here to keep this game fair, fun, accessible and respectful to everyone. Which means that Moderation has to enable and prohibit at the same time, which is, admittedly, not the easiest job ever and sometimes not fair. Moderation are also humans, which means we make mistakes.

Having said that, the best thing players can do is continue to offer feedback and criticism.

Models

Inspired by Louis's work on the Delaune Model, we have created a new subforum under Roleplaying > Politics & Economics > Models, dedicated for guides and resources created from entities across Terra on how to develop and manage various areas. A directory of guides in that section will categorise models under these areas, to help players more easily explore and discover content.

We hope this inspires more players to create more IC-driven content, as part of sharing their experience on various aspects of the game.

Discord Moderation

Louis has been appointed as a Discord Moderator. He’ll be responsible for keeping the peace within the Discord, his role will be solely Discord and not related to the game. While Moderation would like to remind everyone that behavior on Discord can have an impact on in-game status should the conduct be egregious enough.

Academia

As a follow-up to the recent addition of the Models subsection under Politics & Economics, we have created the Roleplaying > Politics & Economics > Academia subsection as well, in an attempt to offer a dedicated space for players wishing to dive into academic-centric roleplaying.

I've updated the Natural Resources List with the recommendations/feedback and placed them into one combined thread (previously the Oil and Gas Index). You can find the thread here.

Moderation Responses

Hello everyone!

We realise there is some evident friction in Moderation requests/responses pertaining to non-admin stuff essentially caused by my creating additional workload with questions and explanations for Aud. Suffice to say we have some obvious difficulties and some adjustments at present, as a result.

We understand the strain in the delays and lack of clarity in information in some cases - I suffer it myself being the new guy - and quite frankly we'd like to thank everyone for baring with us; we know, you defer to Moderation for guidance on playing this game.

As such, we're implementing some flexibility on response times from Moderation to relevant queries subject to specific timelines, for the time being.

Academia

Following up on james's suggestion, a few threads have been moved from Literature to Academia, the new space for dedicated threads and posts from the academic world. Players are encouraged to always reach out to Moderation with any ideas on the Forum Thread Requests.

Bug Reports

The Bug Reports section has been updated with 2 pinned topics: a Guide and a Directory. Over the course of the short and middle term Moderation will go through open ended topics in that section and perform the necessary upkeep tasks, including populating the directory, when necessary.

Players are encouraged to report issues with the game and the forum over there, anytime.
