There are some situations that likely would affect population growth in a nation. Not thinking of climate or perceived earlier errors which someone might want to somehow fix but RP events that occurred since last update

My memory is the enormous amount of refuges going to other nations from the Lodanmun purge of Hosians and the Pontesi massacre of Selucians was before the last update.

Three situations with which i am familiar are a) The Rapa Pile Imbroglio. Rapa Pile had a lot of civilian casualties and Vascania and Deltaria had a whole lot of military casualties.

b) The most recent Deltarian Civil War. Lot of dead but also two ethnicities in Doron Akigo tried to wipe each other out.

c) The most recent Solentian Civil War. Not enough military casualties to effect population growth but lot of refuges to Kafuristan and Istalia. Seko, Beiteynu and Pontesi took in some refuges too. Kalopia closed its borders.

I do not believe the Deltarian adventures in Vorona or Solentia prior to the Deltarian Civil War caused enough casualties to hurt population growrth.

Some events might want to examine that I do not know much about are the recent Kundrati Civil War, the disruption in Kizenia and New Endralon and the decay in Dankuk as well as the North Dovani civil wars.

With Vascania settling back into third world status, according to the rankings, it seems like our birthrate should have likely increased in the last two centuries since the republic started and our international prowess decreased. I would say it would make sense for the population to have grown with cities becoming more squalored and less rural healthcare.

Below are the updated population figures proposed by the Role-Play Committee. The figures were decided by reviewing the feedback in this thread to manually adjust the populations of certain countries, before adding a small, randomised increase to every other country. No country has received a population change of greater than 6 per cent in either direction.

An important note on these figures. In the previous update to the population information, a handful of countries received drastic, unmotivated changes to their population. Numerous countries had their populations changed by unrealistic amounts. The most significant changes were Davostan (90.9% increase), Hanzen, (89.4% decrease), Istapali (87.2% decrease) and Kimlien (79.1% decrease).

The position of the Role-Play Committee is that these changes were a mistake. For this reason, we have chosen to ignore the previous population figures for the following countries: Bazgaristan, Davostan, Hanzen, Istapali, Kimlien, Kurageri, Medina, Mina, New Alduria, New Verham, Noumonde, Ostland, Statrica, Suyu Llaqta, Temania, Utari Mosir, and Utembo. For these countries, we have chosen to use the previous figures updated in 2020, rather than the erroneous 2021 update, as our reference point. Hopefully this does not inconvenience players but we are open to adjusting the figures in any case, if appropriate.

The numbers below are not yet finalised. If you have any suggestions about these numbers, or you would like to request that the population of a particular country is adjusted, please use this thread to share that feedback.

Seeing as how the West Coast states come to about 130 people per square mile, and Kalistan comes in at 112 per square mile, Kalistan is fine with its place on this list.

Could Dankuk get a round a 5% increase from the last ~40 mil. figure? The only real birthrate RP done was here, but at the same time it would be of great help to future RP plans, and I would hope it is considered reasonable given the nation's recent economic development. If this is too much to ask it's not necessary however.

I believe the population increase of Davostag was mostly determined by this article describing/motivating a hopeful drastic growth.

In the case of Dankuk, we recognise the role-play that has been done regarding birth rates, as well as the country's recent economic development. For that reason, we propose a revised population figure of 41,326,231. Davostan is a difficult case. The article that you linked provides a role-play basis for an increase in the country's population but it still does not justify the drastic population increase that was given in the previous update. For that reason, we are proposing a revised population figure of 15,974,251.

As a general comment, the feedback on population figures is usually players asking for the population of a country to be increased. Although I understand some players prefer to play in a populous (and prosperous) country, it is worth remembering that there are plenty of options for role-play in less populous countries too. When we are evaluating the population information, Moderation and the Role-Play Committee has to balance player requests against the need to ensure a diverse and realistic set of population figures.
