Below is our updated country description for Utembo. The Role-Play Committee is proposing to change the name of Utembo to Xsampa. When the cultures of the forum-based countries were first decided, Utembo was Swahili. The name of the country is related to the in-game equivalents for Swahili, specifically “Watembo” for the people and “Kitembo” for the language.
In approximately 2020, a series of major changes were made to the forum-based countries. Utembo was retconned and the Swahili culture was replaced with Tibetan. The change was tied to the retconning of another country, Xsampa (which was renamed Bazgaristan). As a result, the in-game equivalent for Tibetan is “Xsampan”. The name of Utembo was not changed even though it no longer made sense given the new culture of the country. The change we are proposing would resolve this problem.
Players are invited to offer their feedback on the proposal in this thread. A period of at least two weeks will be allowed for players to provide feedback. This period will end at the end of the day on 16 February 2024. The feedback period may be extended if discussions remain ongoing at the end of the initial two week period.
