Feel free to post your political views on this thread, I know we already have a few of these but I wanted to commission a poll and have a forum where you could talk about your political affiliation.

I personally am a NeoLiberal with some Conservative tendencies, I support all Liberty that does not affect people like gay marriage, the legalization of cannabis etc.

Neoliberal, with more liberal than conservative tendencies, I'd say. Although I can easily be disgusted by any given political ideology, depending on their specific facets.

Conservative with statist and green tendencies. Centre to centre-right on economics, Conservative on most social issues. Eurosceptic.

Speaking from an American perspective, I'm inclined to use some socialistic labeling despite a core belief in capitalism, so to differentiate from American liberalism and "progressivism."

That said, I'm a 'liberal socialist' with a hint of conservatism on certain issues, particularly those relating to meritocracy (ex. affirmative action). On the point of meritocracy, that is probably the biggest influence on my conservative leanings. Another example: quite contrasted to Democrats/progressives, while I support free university, I don't believe everyone should go; some/many are better served by technical school and preparation for the trades.

In addition to a meritocratic, capitalist-based socialism, I've also taken interest in the idea of soft paternalism. I don't use the label (as of yet, still learning about it), but it seems to have many commonalities with my ideology And views.

I would say a core belief in capitalism completely rules you out from being able to describe yourself as a socialist.

But what of the ideologies like social democracy and liberal socialism? Both accept capitalism with socialist regulations and programs. At least that's my understanding.

And like I said, in the American context it's hard for me to determine my proper ideological label. And so I've used those labels like 'liberal socialist.'
