Really? Doesn't look all British to me.

Out of that list, I'd say pie, simply because it's a component in this:

What the hell is that?

That, dear fellows, is pie, mash and liquor. Traditional London working class 'dish', if you can call it that.

The entire dish is basically based around being cheap and simple, yet extremely filling and delicious at the same time, and I can assure you it certainly fufills that remit. It's pretty much a family thing; my dad particularly loves the stuff, given that he spent the first twenty-five years of his life living in Southwark in both:
a) not particularly wealthy conditions, to put it very fucking mildly,
b) the vicinity of Armends, one of the best and cheapest pie and mash shops around, if not THE best. (Seriously, I can't overstate this enough.)

Hence, it was kind of inevitable I'd grow up liking it given how much of it I ate, particularly when I was very young. Not that it's an 'acquired' taste or any of that bullshit, mind. We've moved away from there now (first to an area not much different to where we were, and then to suburbia incarnate later on), and the shops down where I am now aren't as good as the ones up there (I still occasionally have Armends' pie and mash now and again), but it's still bloody great stuff and we'll often pick it up even at the increasingly stupid prices they charge around these parts.

If any of you ever happen to be in London, give it a shot; you might be surprised how fucking good it is.

Isn't the principal behind most 'classic' British food the same that is behind soul food? That you guys did not get anything but the crappy parts of the body to use for food? Except that British food does not have a lot of spices in it which makes it taste and smell like shit?

Green stuff looks strange, but the rest sounds good.

When it comes to Fried Meat, I personally like Chicken Fried Steak. It's hard to find good Chicken Fried Steak in Nevada. It's one part of the official state meal of my home state of Oklahoma.

I'd just like to say that if you are vegetarian, fried meat is awesome and it's even tastier if the animal suffered prior to slaughter.
