Frankie Boyle actually made a rather apt analysis of Scotland and it's sort of bizarre, modern corporate culture and infrastructure that the trendy liberal governments have been trying to introduce. It's like when a old pub gets transformed into a trendy bar, and yet the same old dossers who used to be regulars continue to drink in it, simply because they're tied to that bit of ground. Scotland has this strange new post-industrial neo-Thatcherite economy and culture going on, with glass buildings and Scandinavian architecture combined with a service-driven Americanised economy, which has nothing to do with the Scottish people.

Every Developed nation these days has an Americanised economy.
