Yes. My laptop is an older Compaq, I recently found out out that this model uses a "Desktop" rather than a specialised laptop version CPU, hence all the normal heat contained in a vastly smaller box. I have a cooler that I place under it and plug into the USB socket, it has three small fans in it that blow on the underside to assist with cooling and it does help.


My sister has one of those for her laptop, but when she lent her laptop to us, she kept the cooling pad that we bought her.

I used to prop mine up on cigarette packets, but that doesn't help much now the weather is hot. So I've turned all of XP's fancy features off and I squirt water on the bottom, it's not ideal. I'll have my desktop back once I'm at home though.

I tried soda cans, but my family kept throwing them away.
