Holiday aroma!

Postby GreekIdiot » Sat Jun 13, 2009 9:31 pm

Well, I'm apparently staying at home for the whole and torturing duration of summer since I have truly irresponsible, stupid friends who only like drinking instant coffee and playing backgammon at the local cafeteria which deserves to be bombed for its gross ugliness and stupidity. Anyone else? Summer is almost here, speak...! Anyone coming to Greece? I'm only asking in order to alert the authorities of the incoming danger...

I'm probably staying home, except for my sister's wedding. The family is invading from Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and other Southern states. My out of state family includes: 1 school librarians (1 other, semi-retired), 1 Pharmacist, 3 Technology Experts (1 other former, now stay at home), 2 Government employees, 1 Tribal Casino Employee, ~2 Clergy, and others.

Here's what I can remember:

Kansas:
1 School Librarian
1 Technology Expert
1 Pot-Smoker
1 not 18

Oklahoma:
Family 1:
1 Pharmacist, manager of several pharmacies
1 semi-retired School Librarian
Family 2:
House 1:
2 Government employees
House 2:
1 Technology Expert
House 3:
1 Tribal Casino Employee
Family 3:
1 current Technology Expert
1 former Technology Expert
2 not 18

I'm going camping in the New Forest, also possibly the Green Man Festival.

I'd like to go to Greece again though. Last time I went I was fourteen, I'll never forget the time the Greek maid walked past our pool, couldn't get out of the pool in front of my mother. (Pretty pathetic memory, I know, but these things stick in your mind.) Those were the days. :D

So far, out of the countries I've been to down there, Greek women are by far the best. Definitely beat Turkish and Maltese women, and miles ahead of the Italians, the Bulgarians and the Hungarians. Although Malta is still practically medieaval. My mother told me that when I was little all the Maltese women crowded around her and I and touched our hair because they had never seen blonde people (or they were a novelty), and they were all dressed head to toe in black. I'd like to go back there too, we used to go regularly, I think my great uncle had a house out there.

Jess, why do you remember all your family by their jobs? Isn't remembering people by their names more conventional?

Now that is some employment I'd like to try!

As for my summer, I'll go to two rockfestivals (Three nights in a tent freshens up the army memories), my cousins wedding, trip to Amsterdam and later to Norway (Finnmark really). Then of course the obligatory visits to the family and the nice whiny mother-not-in-law-(atleast-not-yet).

I'll probably work most of the summer, and learn for the biggest test there is for Austrian law students. Apart from that, I'll be joining my family in celebrating my grandmothers 80th birthday, and I'll go to Southern Tyrol (which is not in Austria, like the rest of Tyrol, but, due to their usual treachery, in Italy) for about a week. Won't be much of a summer though. I've already been at a (metal) festival this year, and I'll maybe go to another one featuring to many musical styles than I could summarize, which will be kind of special this year, because Radiohead will come, and this would be the first time for them to play in Austria.

Agreed, Adjective.

It seems I'll be going camping with good old friends near the sea for a couple of days in July. That's a change. :P

Heck no, I am not going to Greece. Why would I if I have New York, Malibu, and Las Vegas at my fingertips?

Maybe because there are interesting historical buildings and history that were there 3000 years before anyone even knew New York, Mailub or Las Vegas would exist?

Besides ancient historic sights, we also have beautiful beaches, amazing sea (I'm not arrogant, it's known worldwide), great food and just exactly as New York it worth visiting for its unique splendor then so is Greece. Beautiful women, beer, night and day entertainment. Sure, I want to go to New York as well, but I wouldn't say no to Greek islands with friends.

Maybe you are a gay workaholic, who knows?
