I've been watching Fawlty Towers, it's on once a week in America, I really laughed at one where they had Germans at their hotel and Mr. Fawlty had hit his head.

Elvenquest was awesome though, as was Nebulous, also Thinking the Unthinkable and the Museum of Everything. Gah I have too much time on my hands.

Meh, that is true. I try to ignore my politics when listening to comedy though. It makes life much easier :P

The others were also great, incidentally.

Channel 4 also did Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. The American version is silly sentimental crap, as one might expect, but the original is brilliant.

edit: If there is one insurmountable argument for continuing to pay our licence fee, it's radio comedy. Just read the wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_comedy - America's radio stations produce no comedy, and I think this is one of the reasons that their television comedy is usually rubbish or derivative of British comedy.

Never listened to it. I didn't mean 'no' radio comedy, I meant incredibly little compared to the BBC's output.

In the UK and Australia it's alot shorter and called Garrison Keillor's Radio Show. Although you are right, less shows, but one that is better than anything the BBC could ever even dream of.

I very much doubt that, mate. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was originally a radio programme.
