How do spambots work, and how do they get in? Or whatever the spam posters are called, are they real people?

Nope, just bots. We've discussed this at length (the mods) and right now we're in a bit of limbo. The CAPTA device we've got to register, well as Wouter has said even the most low-tech spammers can beat those and get onto the forums. We're probably going to put a hold on all new people registering rather, they can register but will not be able to post until a mod authorizes it. This is a temporary solution until we can get a better spam-filter in place and the likes. Though, all these twats selling pills are just bots.

Edit: They register with basic inputed names across various forums. When it comes to beating the CAPTA device (the field where you've got to type in letters/numbers from a box to confirm your human lol) is simply beaten by basically running various numbers/letters through automatically until a match is hit and they register and go rabid. It's annoying as hell, I know.

Hey, when they first started Adjective I asked if his Viagra was the good stuff. You know, the sort where I don't have to call my doctor after 4 hours of a chubby. He didn't respond, shitty salesman!

Can Wouter program in a list of questions, and any human with rudimentary knowledge of anything would be able to register? And it's not like we want a person who doesn't even know the General who lost during the Battle of Waterloo in.

Actually, that would be better.

I was watching Big Brother the other day, and one of the blonde ones was telling another person, confidently, that English was similar to German because of when the Nazis came here during the war. It would be nice if we could avoid people like that and spambots.

Well, she was wrong about that, but the English are descended from the Angles and the Saxons, Germans.

It reassures Jessaveryja that he himself is knowledgeable about the descent of the English.
