You obviously know nothing about why the homicide rate is so high in this country. Why don't you actually read up on why its high and then get back to me.

Em, When did I say that?

You make it seem like it's a problem that we lock up people in this country for extended periods of time. Better safe than sorry.

being too safe is useless, you can't make clean shirt being more clean by putting it in the washer once again, it will not be more clean, same way that shooting a dead man is useless, you can't make him more dead.

being too safe and locking too much people cost a lot of money for no reason.

To reuse the rather appropriate washing machine metaphor the US system is the equivalent of keeping your clothes in a cupboard partially filled with shite. On discovering that some of the clothes are covered in shit the clothes are consigned to an ever growing fleet of washing machines that contain no soap for an inordinate amount of time.

No attempt is ever made to clean up the shit since the existence of the shit is thought to be the fault of the clothes.

I'd rather spend money locking those junkies and thugs up than have them roaming the streets just because its somehow "wrong" that we jail drug users and non-violent offenders.

Law and order don't reduce crime, it just make more people in prison and cost a lot
Crimes got cause such as poverty and non-education, if you invest in those instead, you will find yourself lowering the crimes rate.
Jailing the drugs user seem to serve no purpose then to jail them, why we don't jail those drink alcohol while we are it, not because alcohol is good, but because it is not practical, cost a lot, and I see no reason why we should not allowed to consume a simple drink.

It's not like "locking them up" and "have them roaming the streets" are the only alternatives here.

I analyzed the Democratic field and came to the conclusion that should Hillary dropout, decide not to run, die, etc., the only person who can conceivably mount a serious challenge to a Republican would be Elizabeth Warren. Warren WILL inspire the liberal base to come out and vote. Furthermore, Warren would be wise to select a southern Democrat or at least someone to the right of her, most likely Jim Webb, that way she can appeal to the Moderates and independents. Of course, we know that she is not running and that means the Dems are screwed if Hillary is not in the race. The current crop of candidates lack charisma, are not diverse, lack any kind of star appeal and above all, do not inspire the idea of hope and change that Obama did.

That said, if the Republicans decided to go full retard and pick somebody from the Funky Bunch, then that gives a weaker candidate like O'Malley an even better shot at winning.
