im a moderate, not right wing lol. The only reason I am supporting trump is because he isnt supported by a million special interest donors. I like rubio, but he is a little too conservative in regards to the abortion issue for me. I think that in medical emergencies it is totally reasonable to have an abortion.

Actually, Trump does have special interest backing: Himself. You think he is doing this out of altruism? A successful business person doesn't know the meaning of altruism- that is a good way to go bankrupt... If he is truly self-funding, as he claims he is, then a billionaire has already bought big time into his campaign. It just so happens that usually, when billionaires buy in, it is someone other than the candidate himself. Trump just happens to be the billionaire who is buying the election for Trump.

Plus, Trump is actually more of a moderate. I do not buy his move to conservatism b/s.

Yea he is moderate on some issues, other than immigration. I agree with his criticism of the Iraq war, and I also agree with his calls for limited protectionism to save manufacturing jobs in the US.

What do you suppose he would do for himself upon being elected? Honestly i dont even care at this point about that as long as he doesn't do anything completely ridiculous. It is not the favors-for-donors thing that bothers me. My problem with the system is that no one can pass a god damn bill because they are afraid that it might piss off a donor group that supported them. It is time for the government to actually do something, instead of just continuously saying that something has to be done.

I am not saying that Trump is perfect, or the ideal candidate. However, I am personally willing to give him a shot. We have seen politicians in the white house since the nation was born, and I think that it is time to give an outsider a try.

I don't think Trump could pass a law, because he has no friends. The way Johnson got the civil rights act through his dixiecrat blocked Senate was by knowing the right people, making the right calls, and putting down the right pressure. He knew where all the skeletons were buried. Does anyone think Trump has anything like that? He doesn't get his way and goes on a tirade? How much of that do you think a Senate under Mitch McConnell will put up with? How many laws do you think Trump would get through Congress? The only reason anyone would ever move any of his stuff would be because they were scared of him. But if they aren't scared of him, he gets nothing.

Laws don't make themselves by sheer will. And this is something I think many on the right, as well as many of Bernie Sanders' supporters don't seem to understand. You can't demand that your elected officials must ALWAYS stand on principle and then complain that laws aren't being made, because the principled position is always the minority position, and law making requires compromise and deal making to get done. Unless you can somehow come up with a supermajority of Ted Cruzes, which is never going to happen.

The GOP would be smart to move back to the center. You want to get stuff done? Come to the table and make deals. Otherwise, its kind of silly to complain when nothing is getting passed- the majority doesn't want to pass hard right or hard left legislation. And the majority of the population doesn't want that either.
