Kings

Anybody here watch Kings on NBC? It's about the modern retelling of the story of David in the bible and is set in a fictional country (perhaps modelled after the US?).

Yes. I didn't catch the first couple of episodes, but caught up on Hulu. That is a wonderful concept for a TV show and it is actually really good.

I heard it's really expensive to make and that the ratings aren't too hot so it will probably end after the current twelve they have already filmed.

That's a shame, I hope they don't cancel it. There are some corny moments but overall it really is a good show and a wonderful concept, much different than the many things on TV nowadays. I recommend people watch it, especially those with an interest in how modern absolute monarchies might look like in the West.

There are Americans who watch TV shows other than Big Brother and Extreme Makeover?

I often wonder how the heck 'Hogan's Heroes' got off the ground.

Somebody went to a network one day and said "Hey, I have an idea for a show. Let's set it in WW2, in a concentration camp. and let's make it funny.'

See what I mean ?

Classic American thinking...

I remember a Fear Factor that for a while played in Greece. It was a horrible, stupid American TV show. Don't know if you guys know it or I have misspelled it.

I'm actually Canadian. ;)

I've never been a fan of older shows, but I do have a greater affinity towards older films.

Since I am in a country that has a Monarch (Hulstria), I became interested in the show when it was being advertised. I did not catch the first batch of the episodes but I did watch it last Sunday where they had that hostage standoff. Good show. Its unfortunate that the ratings aren't good and networks like NBC focus more on quantity rather than quality. Kings could always move to HBO; the actual king was on Deadwood.
