9/11 is a national tragedy. I can't speak on alleged reports of US actions abroad to undermine stability or cause trouble.

What would you like to know on this topic? I wrote a dissertation and several papers on the subject. The most recently published theoretic model on destabilization as foreign policy is actually mine. It happens to analyze the development of US destabilization policy toward Cuba in 1959-1960 as a case of that more general phenomenon. I'm down to answer whatever questions you have about US-Cuba relations or US efforts to help anti-government agents overthrow their governments and put in pro-US dictators. Its nothing new, nor is it actually all that secret. The State Dept., for example, maintains FRUS, where you can go read primary documents about the creation of our Foreign Policy.

What does that country have to offer anyway? Besides being backwards in all facets of society, they are Communist. Why engage them in the first place? Just wait for both Castros to die off and then put a US backed leader in place so we can have regime change and open that dump up to the rest of the world.

We should have kept Cuba and made it something similar to Puerto Rico...of course the posters to the left of me like this; they want to see the US become a Communist country and think Cuba is a "utopia". It's such a utopia that people escape it year after year for the good ole US of A.

What happened to "love and tolerate"? ;)

-sigh- Typical Capitalist. Always blame the 99%.
Any credible evidence that it's specifically 99.9% of the world's people who are hypocrites?

Why do you care? You're one of them, so it's not like it wouldn't matter if I presented any credible form of evidence.

The first line was said in jest, and I wouldn't have used it on a non-American Capitalist. I know Capitalists who are nice (i.e. they have good intentions, and try to do good).

I just hope this doesn't end up like Burma. the regime there appears to have used America (and the rest of the West)'s softening towards it as a tool for legitimisation of its tyranny. A few cosmetic changes here and there but otherwise not much has changed according to my Burmese friends . I'm not saying I'm opposed to the move (I oppose economic sanctions in all circumstances even apartheid South Africa or Nazi Germany) but it has to be made in way that won't allow the Castro brothers to use it gain legitimacy.
To live outside the law, you must be honest.
