Now you're attacking other people's religious beliefs?

Christian Denominations Discussion (moved from Player Profiles)

I thought that was Abrahamic religion in general.

No hell in Judaism. There is Gehenna but it hardly compares in it's sadism to the Christian-Islamic concept nor is it even clear what it actually involves, and it is not present in early Judaism - since the concept of the afterlife came from the Hellenistic world.

I would never put it in those terms

But that is what you said before. SolaFide is undefendable as a theological position.

I really don't know if CanadianEh is a protestant or not, but that was definitely not what he said. He said that judged by our deeds as a whole, all of us are sinners and would go to hell, if we didn't regularly ask God for forgiveness. That is not a protestant position, and certainly not Sola Fide. That's much more Catholic than anything - because even in Catholicism we're not saved by our good deeds, but by Jesus dying for our sins and thus fullfilling and replacing the old law which would have had us all punished. In Catholicism we're saved because of Jesus' sacrifice, and our wanting to be saved. And the latter has to be manifest in our life.

If CanadianEh had been talking about Sola Fide, asking for forgiveness would not be necessary.

I thought that was Abrahamic religion in general. I thought Christianity was more related to Jesus Christ being the saviour and humans needing to go to him for forgiveness of their sins.

Yours would definitely be the more astute description. Egalion is right too, for the most part, but there are Christians who don't see it quite that way - so it's not quite "Christianity" per se - and while it can be easily interpreted into what Christianity is about, I'd say it's formulated a bit misleadingly.
