It's entirely rational, considering NATO has continued to expand eastward since we supposedly won the Cold War.

It would be eyeroll-worthy if it didn't lead to the jailing of people who dare to criticise an autocratic regime, where anyone who dares to stand up to an obviously corrupt and authoritarian government is labelled a 'traitor'.
Nationalism, irrational fear, and very real political repression. Russia's a hell-hole. When you get guys going 'yeah, I'm a liberal, but I believe in the jailing of political opponents', then you know a country's beyond fucked.

I am sorry to say, but you have been brainwashed. I feel sorry for you. Russia is not a hell-hole. I mean, when your currency suffers high levels of inflation and prices rise, the government forces businesses to give you a wage rise to make your real pay the same as before. Regarding the jailing of political opponents, if that were true, Alexei Naalny would long be in prison. And Russia has free-speech. In talk-shows, even the state-owned TV channels invite American journalists and when discussing Ukraine, openly anti-Russian Ukrainian politicians. And if you say Putin eliminates his opponents - think. He is a former KGB agrnt, and would never make it so inconspicuous by having Boris Nemtsov - Putin's archrival - assassinated right in front of te Kremlin walls. And he imprisoned all the conirmed assassins of Alexander Litvinienko. And comparing Russia's electoral system with the American system makes you think - which one is the conservative shithole and the liberal paradise.

No. Her father got gutted; Marine Le Pen got 37% against an opponent that will face opposition from day 1. The car crash hasn't stopped; it's merely entered slow motion. This woman and her party will not make the same mistakes again, and Macron doesn't have the skill or the platform to make it beyond the narrow parameters he's set for himself.
As it is, he has set himself up for failure; the legislative elections in several months time shall, one way or another, take things firmly out of this hands. The rebranded FN could simply do well (now having a core constituency on which to run on and re-tool), combined with a moderately Eurosceptic Republican party or even a slightly emboldened unsubmissive France (seeing as the Socialists basically proved they can stop existing at this point. Melenchon as a single person leading a rag tag team of misfits got ten percent more than their candidate).
In order to actually implement any of his agenda items, he would need to do extremely well in the upcoming elections. I don't see how that comes to pass.
Sounds like you're trying to explain away the fact that she got annihilated to me.
