YesKleiman Benowitz landed in Bannerhafen with a
scandal, a
murder and a
coup on his mind.
What has been troubling Hadayim's CEO particularly was Fort William's condemnation, the rumours of a Beiteynuese MOFA visit in Vascania, N&D's stature in being a Dorvish puppet and the brewing cauldron of the Migrant's Pass.
What Kleiman sought to achieve was open up "alternative" channels, diplomacy be damned. The Vamaj Network had to stay alive. Looking southwards from Beiteynu, the platform was already there - Vascania could pretty much circumvent any diplomatic friction via Barmenistan, Vanuku and Zardugal.
No, no, he had to look to the north; especially as Fort William's Foreign Office had
jeopardised trade relations. He had to find a way to keep Luthorian Petroleum and SouthernSeas
in the game, and IVO and the Beiteynuese shipping industry at play; no matter what governments decided to do (or not to do). Especially as Birco's acquisition by SouthernSeas depended on the Vamaj Network's
SO trade routes, which had barely broken ground.
Malivia is already in the network. So, what if he could get Bannerhafen to sign that
goddamn treaty?
Bypass all 3 governments. Definitely right up Hadayim's alley of disregarding diplomacy, one would say. If he could get Narikaton & Darnussia in the Vamaj Network and have all 3 sides meet there, he could secure the position of Vascanian oil and Luthorian and Beiteynuese shipping in the Vamaj.
By giving the Vascanian regime a solid foothold in the region itself, at the expense of Yeudish - and Fort William's - influence? By diverting a few billions of Beiteynuese trade to Narikaton & Darnussia and Malivia? So be it. The money would go to all the right pockets.
And they cared not for anything else.
