Crisis Deepens
April 12, 3959

The ongoing crisis in Talmoria has deepened following Sheikh Yaw Konate's response to the military's rogue deployments all over the capital, Lesako. Sheikh Konate has ordered his party's faithful supporters to 'crowd the streets and defend the victory of Akim over iniquity and the agents of the Gao Showan monsters.' As many as a quarter of a million supporters of the Sheikh have begun protests all over the country, vowing to stay in the streets until their man is worn in as head of government. The King's continuing absence, 'big brother' Indrala's own troubles and the resignation of the Great Farin Dr Herman Diallo have left the country without clear leadership. The Great Farin resigned after a gang of Ahmadi students attempted to 'kidnap' him, hoping desperately to convince the armed forces to back down.

The King's actions in organising the elections 'by remote' from Cobura have been heavily criticised by many at home and abroad. The Sheikh's political position is deemed to be somewhat stronger in the controversy, the Royal Army is divided, with many viewing Army Chief of Staff Gen. Idris Cassama 's actions as a desperate and naked power grab. A number of military commanders have so far refused to follow Gen. Cassama's orders to occupy various strategic points, deeming the orders to be illegal and counter-productive.

Sheikh Konate managed to escape unharmed from Lesako through a network of sympathisers to the ever fickle south, establishing himself in Minbuto. The stand-off continues, with the chances of escalation to outright violence very high, signified by the Sheikh's ominous threat of 'returning to the bushes if our rights and fruits of our victory continued to be denied to us.'

Pressure Mounts on Cassama, Konate
April 16, 3959

The resolve of the feuding renegade Army Chief of State Gen. Idris Cassama and his rival, Sheikh Yaw Konate, leader of Talmorian Ahmadists is said to be weakening as pressure, domestic and foreign has been exerted on the tow to reconcile and return to the path of stability. King Mohammed II has appointed his uncle Prince Sekou Sidibe as Regent and charged him with negotiating with the two parties. The 58 year old Prince is a brother of the King's mother, Queen Musukebba and has long served as an advisor to the King and his mother. The Queen herself is her son's side and having appointed Cassama herself as Army Chief of Staff in 3951, is advising her son on how to proceed.

A powerful incentive for reconciliation is the sudden jump in potential prosperity for the Kingdom. A Dorvish offer to construct a railway among other offers of cooperation and membership in TRIBACHDT are all on the table, requiring only a government to approve of them. A consortium of the handful of large local corporations led by Taji Energy International has created a unified lobby to pressure Gen. Cassama and Sheikh Konate and their followers to restore order and take advantage of these latest developments.

Cassama-Konate Crisis Comes To An End
April 19, 3959

A deal has been reached between the feuding parties in Talmoria's political crisis. Regent Prince Sekou Sidibe met with General Idris Cassama and Ahmadist leader Sheikh Yaw Konate at the royal hunting lodge in Masaso, Bintuko. The Regent brought a mighty delegation including diplomats, business leaders and common citizens who all weighed upon the two men and appealed for peace.

In exchange for legal immunity and other secret requests, General Cassama agreed to step down as Army Chief of Staff and called down the few troops who had followed him in his renegade quest. Sheikh Yaw Konate also agreed to call on his supporters to leave the streets. The Regent announced that he would form and lead a caretaker Government until the King's return and appointment of a new one. Prince Sekou appointed a government dominated by technocrats, whose most important tasks include ratifying the Eight Economics treaty, appointing a representative and negotiating the details of the proposed Dorvish railway project. The Regent's decision to appoint himself Great Farin (Chief Minister) and Farin for External Affairs is viewed by many as an indication of how seriously he takes the recent developments in foreign affairs as critical for the country.

King Returns Home

June 4, 3961

King Mohammed II has returned to Talmoria following a four and a half absence which began in January 3957. The King had left, planning to spend only a year in his homeland, Cobura, celebrating the royal centennial. A decision to extend this and the development of the political crisis which gripped the country in 3959 saw this extended until now. Palace watchers say it is only the insistence of his uncle Prince-Regent Sekou Sidibe, that the King even returned to the country. The King is said to having been contemplating abdication following the Konate-Cassama debacle.

Upon the King's arrival, Prince Sekou resigned as Regent and also presented the resignation of his caretaker Cabinet which had governed for just over two years. Unshackled from naivety, the King assessed the political situation swiftly and asked his uncle to continue in Government. Talmoria has seen record investment in recent years, with jobs, rising incomes for all. Exploration for undiscovered hydrocarbon deposits has intensified, with one group of experts having made an unverified declaration of discovering 'the mother of oil wells' about 50km offshore. A large team of experts is to be sent to fully investigate the claims. The successes have given the Prince great political clout and given the unelected chief minister unprecedented popularity. If the oil claims tun out to be true, they will boost both the middling 600 million barrel reserves the kingdom currently boasts of and the economy too.

Hydrocarbon Discoveries Confirmed
September 12, 3963

A large and experienced team of experts in hydrocarbon deposit location has confirmed that about 45km offshore in the Gulf of Saint Sebastian, lies an large oil field estimated to contain anywhere between 3 and 5 billion barrels of oil. About 25 miles further, a gas field estimated to contain 15×1012 cu ft has also been discovered. The government, naturally, welcomed the news, vowing to be extracting as many as 300,000 barrels a days by 3965. The nature of the deposits however necessitate greater technical knowledge and high initial investments forcing Talmoria to look at inviting foreign partners with experience and capital to invest in offshore oil production.

the talmorian masses have rejoiced, many imagining the kind of wealth they have seen on their pilgrimages in oil rich countries such as Kafuristan, Badara and Kalopia. Experts have warned however that the oil deposits in particular are quite small and could be depleted by the early 3970's. There's some hope that a few more oil fields will be found in the coming years but all agree that Talmoria cannot hope to have the legendary reserves its eastern Majatran brothers have.

King Mohammed Abdicates
June 12, 3963

King Mohammed II Saksoure of Talmoria has signed an Act of Abdication, retiring from his position as King of Talmoria after 29 years in office. The king said he was abdicating for personal reasons and felt he could no longer serve the kingdom in this capacity. The 33 year old King said he would return home to Cobura to his parents, Lord-King Kharakhte and Lady-Queen Musukebba. Several members of the Gbara saluted the King for the last time at Sanulama Palace, it is highly unlikely that the legislative body will nominate a new monarch, with many finding republicanism increasingly attractive given the various indignities they endured during Mohammed II's reign, particularly from his Regents.

The Nordenburgs Return

After more than an century in exile, the Nordenburg dynasty that ruled Talmoria and Aslistan for 256 years has returned. Members of the Gbara finally offered the throne to the old dynasty under the condition that a constitutional parliamentary monarchy be formed with most executive power concentrated in the elected Gbara and the Farba (Great Farin). The dynasty has been led by the young Sulayman Idrissid Matthaeus Hakim von Nordenburg for the past 7 years since his father's death. The Gbara determined that the Nordenburgs were the most fit to rule the nation as the dynasty, despite what has happened in the past, remains popular with the citizenry. They also ruled the nation for nearly 3 centuries and left a great political and cultural impact on the nation.

Seventy years ago King Sulayman I was deposed by immigrants from the West who wanted to create a new state in their own image. Several years later his son King Enyinnaya I was restored to the throne of Talmoria. However, Enyinnaya was deposed by the same men who had deposed his father. The old royal family was then exiled to Cobura and Hawu Mumenhes for the next several decades. House Neuhaus has been biding its time waiting for the right moment to return to their ancient homeland of Talmoria-Aslistan. Princess Moniade Neuhaus, the rightful queen of Talmoria, and her followers have finally returned to Talmoria in hopes of restoring the ancient monarchy.

"Our poor nation has been ruled by Western imperialists for decades. Our countrymen and people have suffered greatly. The young no longer know what it means to be an Asli. But that all changes today! House Neuhaus has returned for you Talmoria. I will force the Westerners out and retake our country, but I can not do it alone. I need the help and support of every Asli man, woman, and child. Come support the RDO in the 4087 elections. Together we shall rebuild the great nation of Talmoria and Aslistan that our grandfathers and their fathers knew." - Princess Moniade Neuhaus

July 4, 4099 - Farin(Minister) Akuchi Tanigogoro-Banigogor of Trade and Industry and her deputies resigned over allegations of corruption. Tanigogoro-Banigogor has been accused of pocketing public funds allocated to her Farinate and funneling that money towards the Gulf of Nafolo Drilling Corp., which incidentally is owned and operated by her ex-husband Jon Banigogor Jr. Miss Tanigogoro-Banigogor's actions have angered many Talmorians who were promised a change from the corruption under the old, Western-led government. The Farinate of Justice and Criminal Prosecution (FOJCP) intends to prosecute Tanigogoro-Banigogor and her husband. Great Farin Saksoure announced his intentions to fight corruption within his government by setting up a sub-committee under the jurisdiction of the FOJCP.

June 24, 4100 - Great Farin Saksoure in the strongest possible language condemns Likatonia's leaders. Likatonia's House of Representatives (legislature) is debating whether or not re-enslave the Talmorians living in their country.

"The fact that a country like Likatonia is even considering the enslavement of human being in this time and age is an indication of their lack of morals and backwardness. Likatonia was one of the first nations to enslave our people 3000 years ago. Thousands of years of civilization has, apparently, not changed them for the better.

Furthermore, Talmoria will consider any Likatonian attempt to go through with their plans to enslave Likatonian Talmoris as an act of aggression. I urge Talmorians and other Esinsundu people to return to the motherlands from these savage countries in the West. Your brethren await you and will defend you." - Tutmaios Saksoure, Great Farin and King of Talmoria

February 7, 4101 - Today Queen Moniade and King Tutmaios (also Great Farin) announced their intention to travel to all the great Esinsundu nations. The tour will kick off in the Talmorian capital of Neuhaus. The royal procession will then proceed to Stratica, Utembo, Ntoto, Cobura, and finally Hawu Mumenhes. Our monarchs are expected to meet with Pharaoh Remptahhu V Saksoure in Hawu to discuss defense and the security of the Esinsundu nations. In the King and Queen's absence Farin of the Interior Teleola Mbanefo shall temporarily lead the government until their return.
