National Progressive Convention 4190
Image Deputy Chair Marko Skandel addressing the Convention.
The NPC was held Union Hill, Illiathar during February 2nd to the 5th. The Nomination was more contested than the previous 4 Elections (Where the NPP endorsed the BRRP), and the Voting went to a Second round.
Round 1: BRRP: 44.3% Marko Skandel: 38.2% Lexi Cunningham: 9.4% James von Bondeu: 8.1%
Round 2: BRRP: 51.3% Marko Skandel: 39.6% Lexi Cunningham: 9.1%
The rise of support of Marko Skandel against the BRRP, according to Leader of the Radical Wing, MP Hiram Webster,
The BRRP's inability to win consecutively and the rise in support of Right-wing Parties against the left, has led me and many other Progressives to seek our own candidate to fight the Corporatists and the rise in Radical Support by the Party Base. We are currently tied as the smallest party in the Congress, the BRRP suffered a devastating defeat in the Presidential race. There is no more time for Compromise in this age, Compromise got use here, and it weaken us, its either the Left or nothing.

The Radical's rising support rose after the 4180 and 82 elections where the NPP lose 55 and 36 seats respectively. When asked about the Radicals, Party Chair Garrett von Bondeu said,
We need to focus on getting a left winger into the Presidency, and taking back the Congress to instate many Progressive and Leftist laws and provisions. While I am mildly concerned for the Radical's growing support, we are all Progressives in this party, and we need to be united to fight the Corporatists.

In the end the NPP decided its candidates for each Seat in Congress, and to Endorse the BRRP, and as the campaign trail heats up, it's down to the voters to decide in June whom wins, and inadvertently who rules the NPP, the Centrists, or the Radicals.

4190: The Progressive Reaction
"The Front is Blunt!" Many said on Election Night at the NPP headquarters in Fort Bailon. Garrett von Bondeu after the results came in said,
This is a Victory for the Left, The Front lost 19 Seats, and we can form a fully Left government, and in this is a crucial time as well. I request Ó Seanáin and the BRRP to nominate a Leftist VP, and propose a Leftist Government and leftist Bills to move forward in Beluzia.

The NPP gained 39 Seats, the most out of all parties in the Election, Rising close to its number of seats a decade ago. While the future of the party seems bright, anything can happen in the tide of politics.

Hamilton Calls calls out Von Bondeu

At a press conference earlier today, Congressman Eric Hamilton officially christened the United Front. After the office of Prime Minister was abolished, Eric Hamilton has remained a prominent voice within the Liberal Party. The Congressman became the first leader of the United Front earlier today. Although the Liberal Party's popularity has fallen recently, Hamilton's has only soared. Many believed that Hamilton's election as Leader will boost the popularity of the Liberal Party and United Front.

When asked about his rival Garret von Bondeu he said,
Mr. Von Bondeu is one of the dirtiest politicians in Beluzia. He's having an extremely hard time dealing with the Radicals within his own party, they'll probably oust him in the next election. Von Bondeu only serves as a pawn of the BRRP, first to go when you need to protect the Queen, or President Ó Seanáin. She's playing this country like a fiddle, and I'll expose her as the fraud she is. The Radical Front will be gone by 4194.

It is expected that the Liberal Party, under the renewed influence of Eric Hamilton, will oppose most or all of the NPP'S proposals.

Chairman Fredrickson Declares Neutrality
(Union Hill Beluzia) Just a few hours ago in this very city the chairman of the United Party of Beluzia, John Fredrickson, made a speech addressing UPB supporters, the recent election, and the parties plans for the future. During his speech he was asked if he would urge the party to support either the United Front or the BRRP, NPP alliance candidate in the next election, to which Fredrickson responded
I will continue to encourage the party to run its own candidate as the nation as become stuck in a power battle between the United Front, and the NPP/BRRP alliance. The UPB will not become involved in this conflict, if I can help it. The UPB will vote, not based on who proposed the bill, or who is voting in favor of it, but rather if we believe it would help the nation. We won't care if it was the Liberals, or the NPP, or the Republicans who proposed the bill, or if the BRRP voted in favor of it, or if the Labor Party voted no on it, but we care if the Beluzian people would support its passing. However, I won't be against a second round endorsement if our candidate is eliminated.
Fredrickson also said that he was proud of the party rebounding from its worst electoral performance since its early years, and getting back up to 100 seats, he also congratulated Minister Chapman on his performance as Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Jess Young for his job as the party's congressional leader. He also announced that the UPB's national convention would be scheduled for June 4192, at Parloshire, Parlos Decina.

Update: Chairman Fredrickson has announced a list of speakers for the convention.
  • Chairman Fredrickson
  • Minister Phill Chapman
  • Congressional Leader Jess Young
  • Former Minister Susan Jackson
  • Congressman Jodi Higgins
  • Retired Congresswoman Summer Read
  • Secretary Susan Florence

4191 NPP Chairmanship Election
Yesterday the NPP held it's 16th Chairmanship election, many in the Party thought von Bondeu would win once again before this statement was made by him,
I will not be seeking another term as Chair, after 44 Years in the Position and as a MC I choose to resign from politics, whether or not I return will be my own decision, I will finish up any papers I have left to sign during this Election, then I will return to my home and enjoy some peace.

After the statement some prominent members of the party threw their names into the ring for the Chairmanship before the first round of voting, where Marko Skandel, Hiroto Utamuro, and Lexi Cunningham all proceeded to the 2nd round, where Utamuro received the majority of votes and the chairmanship.
    Round 1: Skandel: 30% Cunningham: 30% Utamuro: 27% Other: 13%
    Round 2: Utamuro: 52% Skandel: 26% Cunningham: 22%

Hiroto Utamuro giving his victory speech to the Party
This is a Victory for us Radicals and the Party, the BRRP has took our support and is excluding us from the government, and they can take it! No more Betrayal! Only policies for the people of Beluzia!

The rise of the Radicals in the party has been attributed to growing disdain of the BRRP and hatred of the Front. The projected time for the next convention (as announced by Utamuro) will be between November 4193 and February 4194.

UPB 4192 National Convention
(Parloshire, Parlos Decina) The United Party of Beluzia just held its national convention which included for the first time ever, a call for a chairmanship election. Congressman Tibby Everill, from Ilather, lead a call for a speakership election which gathered the required 10 Party MCs. The election was held and, despite the call, Chairman Fredrickson won the election easily in the first round.
First Round: John Fredrickson: 325(65%) Tibby Everill: 100(20%) Kaden Matthews: 75(15%)

After the Chairmanship election, the party moved on forward with speakers, and at the end of the week, the party held its nomination vote.
First Round: Steve Lawerence:222(44%) Susan Florence:183(37%) Breann Peter:32(6%) Endorse: 63(13%)
Second Round: Steve Lawrence: 402(80%) Susan Florence:97(19%) Endorse: 1(1%)

After 2 rounds of voting Deputy Chairman Steve Lawerence was selected to be the UPB's presidential candidate, and after a short debate the party decided not to endorse a second round candidate. After being selected Lawrence addressed the crowd:
Hello, first I would like to thank the 500 delegates who voted for me to receive this honor I hope that I will be able to become the first president from the UPB. Also I would like to note that I don't support the recent call for a Chair election, John Fredrickson has served both Beluzia and the UPB beautifully, his policy of staying nuetral in this United Front-Anti-United Front struggle as allowed our party to remain influential and not be biased against. I will continue to support Fredrickson as chairman until he resigns or until he is no longer worthy of my support. If elected president I will work with all parties in Beluzia and I will keep "Working For A Better Beluzia. Thank you, good night.

After one more vote the party decided on its congressional nominees. Chairman Fredrickson also announced that there will be an election return party at UPB headquarters in Union Hill on Election Day, where the UPB hopes to celebrate a great election for the party.

Year in Review: 4192
Well another year has ended and as such it's time for an edition of Year in review. In this article we will be reviewing the actions of the Beluzian National Congress. So let's dive right into this. The congress passed only 1 bill this year and voted against 4. The lone passed bill was the Constitution of the Republic of Beluzia which passed with 650 in favor. The congress didn't pass a new cabinet, making it the 2 straight year where the congress hasn't passed a new government leaving the old one still active, the Republican Party has a proposal waiting in debate which has gained a lot of support, but they haven't moved it to a vote. Also the NPP elected a new chairman after the former chair decided not to run in the party's chair election. Lastly, the UPB held its national convention, and nominated Steve Lawerence as its candidate. So ends 4192, now on to 4193, the last year before the election. Happy new year Beluzia, we will see you next year.

Year in Review: 4193
It seems like only 2 days ago I sat down to write the first edition of Year in Review, and now another year as passed. Hopefully, many of you thought this year was better than last, and if not well, maybe next year. As we did last year we are going to talk about legislation in the Beluzian National Congress. This year 3 bills went through the congress, 2 passed and 1 failed. The 2 passed bills were the "Classified File Release Act" and the "Chemical and Biological Warfare Act of 4192". The first bill passed with 398 in favor, 244 against, and 127 abstaining. The bill allows for classified files to be release after a set amount of time unless they could be a threat to national security at the time. The other passed bill passed with 383 votes for, 185 against. and 182 abstaining. The 2nd bill prevents the nation from ever using biological or chemical weapons in warfare. The lone failing bill was the "Preemptive Draft Act of 4192", this act failed with 378 votes against, 244 in favor, and 128 abstaining. The "Preemptive Draft Act of 4192" would have allowed the military to force citizens into the military after they complete their schooling in times of war. Like last year no new cabinet was selected, but the Republicans did propose one to the congress, and is now being voted on. However, due to the recent in activeness of the Liberal party, the proposal looks like it might fail, as all parties involved in the proposal must vote yes, this means that Beluzia might not have a new government until after the election. Lastly, we want to loom ahead at the future, next year is election year so we at the Bailon times would like to remind you to vote. If you are unhappy with the current congress, or president June is the month to get a change. Thanks, for reading, and have a Happy New Year Beluzia!
