Mideen to succeed Takon
March 1, 4253

Today the Presidium has accepted Joseph Mideen as new President of the Republic. With this, the issues with Marcy Casel should be finally over.
Tomorrow Joseph Mideen should be inaugurated as new President of the second Republic. Zouzou Ndour, who served as acting President for three months, stated to be very glad that this issue is finally solved. It will be him who will be handing over the keys of the Presidential office tomorrow. He will be serving President Mideen in the role of vice-President. When asked how he felt after his passage in the Presidential office, he said: "It would be an honour to officialy be installed in that office, but I understand that this position has to be earned first."

NGPoL Internal Struggle Explained
May 21, 4253

4252 was a turbulent year for the nation following an internal struggle within the New Green Party of Lodamun. In February, it was reported that the next party elections that were scheduled for August 4253 could completely change the party after a couple conservative and capitalist faction leaders of the party announced platforms to entirely reform the party's name and direction. Later in the month, the party's delegates at the NGPoL HQ overwhelmingly voted(137-21-7) to hold the snap party elections right away.

First Round
----------
Joseph Mideen 46 votes 27.9%*
Marcy Casel 46 votes 27.9%*

Justin Kelsey 39 votes 23.6%
Tex Andrews 34 votes 20.6%

Party Deputy Joesph Mideen and former Party Deputy Marcy Casel had advanced to the second round, eliminating the chance of the drastic party reform of the other two candidates, to the delight of much of the party.

Second Round
----------
Joesph Mideen 83 votes 50.3%
Marcy Casel 82 votes 49.7%

It was an extremely close second round, but Mideen won the vote to advance to the final round. This wasn't the first time such a close vote occurred; such a similar result in the second round happened in the 4243 elections as well. Casel had also lost to Mideen in the second rounds in multiple party elections in the past as well and this only made her more aggitated.

Final Round
----------
Joesph Mideen 89 votes 53.9%*
Rain Baxtor(I) 76 votes 46.1%

Joesph had won the Party Chair against incumbent Rain Baxtor, after losing to Baxtor for the chair for nearly two decades. Having won the chair, Mideen also noted the resignation of then-Lodamun President Takon and expressed intent for the nomination as his successor. Casel did not take this very well and she challenged Mideen for the presidency, adding that she did not accept the party election results. The party was split on her refusal as well as who should have the nomination of President, causing an internal struggle within the party that threatened the succession to the presidency. Outgoing President Takon had intervened and called for an investigation on the second round results to solve this struggle. The party, as well as the Presidium, had high respect for Takon and overwhelmingly supported this. The party had suspended Mideen from being party chair and a candidate for the Presidency, and Rain Baxtor was to stay on board as Chairman until the investigation was concluded. Later in the year, Baxtor had presented the Presidium with the nomination of Joseph Mideen for President, assuming the investigation and the chaos over the snap election would be cleared by the time the new cabinet was formed. This did not happen by that time and when the new cabinet had passed in December, the position of President of Lodamun was vacant. The Vice President nominee, LNC's Zouzou Ndour, had served as acting president until the issue with the presidency was solved.

On February 28th, 4253, the investigation had concluded and it appeared the election results were legitimate. Casel, having finally accepting the results after this investigation, withdrew from her challenge for the presidency. The internal struggle had finally ended and Mideen was approved by the party to be the chairman, as well as accepted for the presidential nomination. On March 2nd, 54 year-old Joesph Mideen was inaugrated as the new President of the 2nd Democratic Republic of Lodamun, with Zouzou Ndour as Vice President. Casel, having been the runner up to Mideen in the elections, is once again the Party Deputy.

LNC largest fraction in Presidium
according to polls
August 4, 4256

West Andalay- A poll buro at West Andalay came up with a national poll for the upcoming elections. People were asked who they would vote for nationwide. It is said this was the largest poll ever performed in Lodamun. The results are not very surprising.
According to the poll, NGPoL would lose some seats to LNC, making it possible for LNC to become the largest fraction in the Presidium. The poll results display eventhough that the race will be very close to a tie. For years, both parties have bee in coalition, so the investigators do not see any problems there. It would just be a shift in seats, without causing any other big scale changes.
What about the other parties? Two other parties are also running in the next elections: Freedom caucus and NXDIAZ1 Party. Both parties seem to be unknown by the public. Less than three percent had ever heared of them and practically no one was familiar with their party program. Thus these parties seem to end once again without any seats in the Presidium.

New Green Party of Lodamun Party Elections of 4263
The Party Flips! Right-Wing Faction of Party Now Holds Majority
August 2, 4263

The next NGPoL party elections were held this month and the results sparked a political upset within the party. Tex Andrews, the leader of the conservative faction of the NGPoL, won the party chair. Immediately after winning the chair, Andrews announced a change to the Deputy Chair designation. Instead of the runner-up in the final round(second round if incumbent chairman loses) automatically getting the position, he says that the position is now appointed by the new party chairman. With this, he appoints the leader of the Capitalist faction, Justin Kelsey, to the Deputy Chair. Making this change right away shows that the new chairman is not afraid to switch things up and more changes to the party may come soon enough.

Following the Elections, the New Leadership of NGPoL Makes Sweeping Reforms
The New Green Party of Lodamun is now the Green Capitalist Party of Lodamun
August 9, 4263

A week following the party elections, the new leadership of the New Green Party of Lodamun has implemented changes to the party's goals, as well as name. They are now known as the Green Capitalist Party of Lodamun(GCPoL) and as the name implies, this reformed party is going toward an eco-capitalist agenda. The GCPoL also wants to minimize government responsibilities, as well as a more aggressive approach in terms of military.

Other than those goals, the rest of the party's agenda remains. They still retain a relatively progressive, permissive, and secular agenda; this is a compromise the conservative faction had to make for the capitalist faction to work with them, allowing these reforms to take place.

Rapula Governor asks Presidium for help
September 6, 4263

Problems in Rapula. Several bombings in Sorbankia Heights.
Louis Vangenae, the Governor of the Province of Rapula, has asked the Government for help and assistance to regain control of certain cities in his Province. The last few days there were plenty of cases of violence and vandalism throughout the west of the Province, which spread eastwards yesterday. Also, the violence seems to get worse over time. Last night, there were at least four bombings in and around the city of Sorbankia Heights. Untill now there are no casualties reported, since the bombings happened at night and had installations as targets.
One bombing in particular caused a lot of damage: at 01:25 local time an explosive created a breach in the main reservoir of the South-Rapulan waterplant, causing a flood of the valley. Not only were more than 60 houses affected and damaged by the water, there are also reported problems in the distribution of potable water in the region. The South-Rapulan waterplant filters and distributes drinking water to up to 100000 families.
Vangenae asks the military to intervene for the distribution of water in that region, as well as a security force to keep an eye on things and hopefully stop the violence.
He made a statement earlier this morning: "We have no idea who might be responsible for these actions. It is sure that a broad group is involved, since there are at least 179 reports of violence and indecent behavior over the last week. The bombings might have nothing to do with this violence, but we believe these happenings to be at least possibly connected. The police are investigating the reports, but are undermanned. Therefore I ask the Presidium to give us the necessary aid to maintain or restore order in our beautiful and otherwise peacefull Province."
One of the other bombs caused some damage at the CHF compound, a company that produces parts for MIL. The deliveries will hardly be affected, it sounds.

Bombing in the industrial area of Sorbankia Heights
Huge explosion after devastating fire
number of casualties yet unknown
September 10, 4263

As the violence continues in and around Sorbankia Heights, we have reached a new low. This morning an explosion occurred near an electric cabinet in the industrial area, which caused fires in certain adjacent factories. The fire department is still trying to gain control of the fire, but is affected by a huge explosion that occurred in one the plants.
At about 8 o'clock a car exploded on the terrain, destroying the electric high tension cabinet that feeds some of the factories. Some factories were affected directly by the blast, others indirectly. The fires in three buildings have been extinguished by their proper personnel, one has been extinguished by the fire department. While the firemen were busy trying to put the fire out at the factory Metalurgy, there was a second explosion in the hall were aluminum is being processed. In the blast at least 5 firemen were lost. At this stage there are 16 fire engines on the scene, but putting out the fire seems a hard nut to crack. All buildings and factories within a radius of 3 mile have been evacuated.
The smoke coming from the fire might be toxic.
Governor Vangenae appears to have arrived at the command center to overlook and evaluate the evolution of the disaster. He wished not to give any comments on the bombing, since he wishes to await an investigation. he did say that he has faith in the firemen and that they deserve our respect.

Things are getting out of control
September 17, 4263

With a death toll of 21 during the blaze at the industrial site in Sorbankia Heights, and another 2 casualties and a couple of dozen injured during attacks and bombings during the last couple of days, Rapula is witnessing the bloodiest part in their history in ages. The Governor of Rapula stated that the situation is getting out of hand and that he has insufficient resources to stop this madness.
The last bombings were no longer in the vicinity of Sorbankia Heights, but concentrated in the border area. It seems that the highest concentration of violence is close to the border with the Republic of Likatonia, yet there is no clear evidence yet. The police are investigating a couple of tracks, but wish not to share any information just yet. A source tells us that one of the leads concerns a group that acts from within the borders of Likatonia. It is unknown if this group would actually be composed of Likatonian nationals. It is also unknown whether or not the Government is discussing this matter with the politicians of our neighboring country.
The LNC chairman has already sent over half of its paramilitary group to this Province, to roam the streets at night and inform the police about any suspicious behavior or situation they may encounter. The chairman declared that they have chosen to implement an unarmed group of paramilitaries, in order to avoid any speculation about their presence.
A lot of people live in fear in the border area, and many have fled their houses and have sought refuge elsewhere in the nation. The problems have occurred for the first time about two weeks ago. The Governor calls on everyone to stay calm and respect the police forces while they do their jobs.

Water management by our troops
September 20, 4263

The first troops have arrived in Rapula yesterday in order to help the citizens. This morning there was a massive compound built to filter water.
Till early this morning the troops were building, with the help of local authorities and citizens, this installation and reservoirs. Were possible, houses in Rapula were connected to the net and were provided drinking water from other plants. But some regions simply weren't accessible. Early this morning the military started the distribution of water using trucks with large containers. The trucks drive around the Province almost non stop. Additional trucks would arrive soon.
The Governor was pleased with the good and efficient work done by the military: "It seems that some citizens were taken to hospital due to the consumption of filthy water. Such things will no longer happen, thanks to the good job performed by our troops. I would like to thank these fine men and women for the professional manner in which the dealt with this crisis. Also I would like to thank the Government in Port Golavia for their fast decision. They have prevented the starvation of many people."
The Governor also brought up the idea of a special team that would be implemented in case of disaster, without having to wait for approval from the government. This would be a rather small group, but would be able to be implemented within hours to take initial actions.
The Government also decided to grant permission to the Governor to set a curfew. The first soldiers to help the police already arrived in his Province, and the rest is to follow within days. Police and military are now creating a blueprint which dictates what the military can, should and cannot do. The military will patrol the streets and assist the police starting not later than the day after tomorrow.
It is from that moment on that curfew will be set. Apart from law enforcement no one will be allowed to be in the streets or public places from 2000 in the evening until 0700 in the morning. All those caught during curfew will be arrested and will be investigated.
Once the military are installed in their new task, the paramilitary troops that already were helping out will step down and will obey the decision made by the Governor and the Government.

Rapula again victim of violence
September 21, 4263

The violence never really stopped, but for a few days there weren't any bombings. While troops arrive at Rapula there were bombings on seven locations. Several people were injured, probably some died. The largest bombing was near an office block just outside Sobarkia Heights, were part of the soldiers helping out the tortured Province would stay. There seems to be little damage at the infrastructure inside the building, but the outside has suffered a lot. The glass wall, providing entrance to the restaurant and offices on one side collapsed by the blast. There was a fire in some of the buildings adjacent to the office building as well. These buildings are lost. The inside of the office building would be stable and should still be available for the soldiers that would be arriving today and tomorrow.
A perimeter is set at this stage. There will be security checks in and around the site as well, eventhough it is uncertain if the military will still be eager to have the troops reside in this building.
