PRESIDENT MELSBACH: PROTESTS DON'T BOTHER US

Image
The president says he is feeling relaxed

President Melsbach has said the ongoing protests don't bother his admintration. Earlier, he was asked what the government's response would be to the protests. The president replied by saying the "silent majority still remains a majority" so the protests "don't bother" his administration. The protests have escalated recently due to the Libertarians decision to table the Death Penalty Bill. At the moment, however, it seems the supporters of the government still outnumber the opposition. While this remains, the president will not be worried. Melsbach is now halfway through his turbulent term as president.

DSU PROTESTS GOVERNMENT ON THE STREETS

Image

The DSU are sick of active protests, so they told critics of the government to sit down across the country in public places, in parks, by government buildings and sometimes roads, to show a passive resistance to the backwards ways of the government. To mirror this, DSU members in the Senate staged a sit-in demanding the government change how it operates and for the President to resign triggering early elections.

PRF HOLDS CAUCUSES FOR NEW LEADER

After George Llewellyn expressed his intention to step down from the position of PFR leader, caucuses were held by local PFR affiliates in the various parts of Aloria to determine the new party's leadership. Former Deputy Leader Janine Hummel came out on top with 51% of the vote, followed by Alfred Bundefeller at 38% and Wessel Goldschmidt at 11%. Hummel is noted as the former leader of the Federalist League which merged with the Alorian Freedom Party twenty years ago to form the current Party for Federalism and Freedom. Bundefeller, who netted 38% of the vote, represents the more moderate wing of the party and is a Senator from Gavonshire. Alfred Bundefeller's father, the late Arthur Bundefeller, was leader of the AFP from 4278 to 4283 and oversaw the party's most devastating electoral defeat.

Llewellyn's tenure as party leader has seen the PFR work closely with the Libertarian Party in securing the presidency for the Libertarians while the Libertarians have continued strong support for PFR led policies and governments. Hummel has vowed to continue the support, "as long as the Libertarians keep winning and keep the presidency out of the hands of the radical left." Lewellyn, who has been in many ways the heir of AFP founder Seth John, declined to support his Deputy Leader Hummel in the caucuses. Hummel is somewhat more conservative than Llewellyn.

Janine Hummel will take formal leadership of the party, but Llewellyn will remain Prime Minister until the new cabinet is finalized.

PRIME MINISTER LLEWELLYN GRANTS ASYLUM TO UNITED PARTY LEADERSHIP

Prime Minister George Llewellyn has granted asylum to the leadership of the United Party in Beluzia. Recent events in Beluzia, with repressive elements coming to power in the country, have forced the United Party leadership to fear for their safety.

Beluzia is on track to legalize slavery, according to the Prime Minister's office, and the Government strongly condemns steps taken in this direction.

The Prime Minister had this to say in a press conference:

"We in Aloria abhor the actions of the ruling government in Beluzia. The United Party are strong supporters of civil liberties and democracy. Their safety must be secured for the good of stability in Artania, and it is in question in the current political climate. With this in mind, the Government has decided to grant refugee status, political asylum, to the leadership of the United Party of Beluzia. We hope that the Artanian community, and international community, will stand together to condemn the actions of the Beluzian government and support democracy on our continent."

The Republic of Beluzia answers these accusations. They are false. Everything we are doing is within the rule of law, no politicians are being persecuted in Beluzia, we have not legalized slavery, we are simply withdrawing from the treaties,
http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=546055
we are aplying an economic Shock Therapy to improve the Beluzian economy,
http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=546051
we are privatizing for cheap all but a key few of the state owned enterprises , we invite all foreigners to invest in them. Beluzia is fine. The United Party leadership wants asylum to escape justice from the crimes they commited while in power, including corruption, raqueteering, bribery, gerrimandering and voter supression.
